Being a gay icon doesn't make you gay. Mae West is a gay icon...does that mean you are saying she was a lesbian? Scott explained it pretty well. Grant was something to aspire to (for straight men too) and was able to laugh at himself. Scott even pointed out how silly the "rumor" was about Grant and Scott.
@Chicokidable THANK YOU!!!! I don't even bother to respond to all of the comments where people are yelling at me, telling me that Cary Grant or the other celebs I've profiled aren't gay. You said it best and I'm glad that you felt I explained it pretty well because sometimes I doubted that fact when I saw so many misguided comments. So thank you for all your observations and I agree with you, "Pay attention people."
1st of all you big puff in bringing up baby he said that line because its been written in the script by the writer so as an actor he has to act and say what is in the script weather he was to turn rnd to you n say your a puff, if its in the script he doesnt mean it his character does, he isnt cary grant in films you idiot as an actor myself ive come across shit like that before but im not gay im happy in my relationship, secondly he was best mates with randolph n nt like u wantn dick up the arse
Wow! I've never really looked at Cary Grant from this angle, but it certainly does make sense. I think Cary Grant was someone that all men would aspire to be, gay or not. I am not in the least bit gay, but I don't have a problem with anyone who is. I think I'm going to check out more of your videos! I like them! =)
Cary Grant wasn't gay, but the relationship w/Cannon probably made him comsider it!!! she complains about him bit there are 2 sides to very story & he was too much of a gentleman to talk about her..why did she hook up w/him in the 1st pace? to advance her pathetic career & for money..he was always classy, she can be seen now as an old lady at Laker games!! his big mistake
Another great video hunny :). I loved Cary in "Monkey Business" and "North By Northwest".
He was a great comedic actor and a great serious one too.
The scenes in "Monkey Business" where he goes out on the town with Marilyn are timeless :P.
I've read that Cary was gay and lived with his boyfriend up until he died. Jack Warner made them live seperately for a while but they refused to work that way so they went back to living with one another.
Very interesting, but you could have added that the only child Cary Grant fathered was with Dyan Cannon who later on claimed that he was physically abusing her while on LSD.I find that to be pretty ''gay'',non ?..)))
Thanks for the great video. I must admit that I don't think I have watched any of Cary Grant's movies. I will have to pick up some of them that you mentioned and watch them.
I haven't seen many of Grant's movies either, but if you've ever heard of Operation Petticoat that's one of his. It's a comedy film made in '58. Lots of fun to watch. Yay Tony Curtis and Cary Grant!
If you watched the video you would understand that not all gay icons have to be gay. Judy Garland wasn't gay and she's a gay icon. Cary Grant represented an ideal man that many gays (and straight men) aspired to be like - I never said he was gay.

Do you have any idea how much this title scared me. I absolutley love Cary Grant and if he was gay I wouldn't be able to stand him. You have allowed my soul to rest in peace
Do you have any idea how much your comment scared me? To know that I live in a world with people as moronic as you scares me...a lot. I don't know you or anything about you other than this comment and guess what? I can't stand you!
I really hope you worded that wrong classicalgal, if Cary Grant was gay (which I don't think he was), I still be crazy about him, it shouldn't matter!
@classicalgirl01 Your comment doesn't make sense. Because Grant was Grant and was and still is a Gay icon that only lends to his mystique. And if indeed Grant was Gay then you like him as a Gay man. If he wasn't Gay, then he couldn't have brought that certain extra special that makes him one of Hitchcock's favorite!
HEY! Why call him an idiot? 'Gay Icon' is subjective... and down to the person. This guy is a great, likeable host - What have you contributed to YouTube? YOU JERK.
Judging by their smiles, appears that Cary and Randolph were able to have a "good poke" at each other (3:19) on occasion. A brilliant photo. Thanks for another great episode Scott.
I'd say that at 3.19 Cary is looking at Randolph Scott like a man in love. Straight men don't look at other men that way, as far as I know.

Cary Grant was not gay. Yes he had bi-sexual relationships in his early days but put those things far behind him. Please do your research.

I admire Cary Grant, but certainly not because he was gay. This is ridiculous.
