Without American security in those nations, we can't ensure that Al Qaeda won't bomb the pipelines or something similar. The governments of those countries don't have any problem giving us their oil, because it's making them rich.

Without American security in those nations, we can't ensure that Al Qaeda won't bomb the pipelines or something similar. The governments of those countries don't have any problem giving us their oil, because it's making them rich.

Ignorance of the human and environmental impact of chemical weapons is not a very credible defense for their use.
Estimates of those dead range from 1m - 3m. The US was the agressor and has good reason to try and minimise the scale of its crimes, so I believe the higher estimates are more likely.
If you really believe that those captured by the US were well cared for you are either hopelessly naive or a vulgar propagandist.

This was during the cold war, back when the major powers all fought to install communism and democracy, in this case Communist north was trying to overrun Democratic south, once things started to escalate the US jumped in to help out. But of course we end up putting hundreds of thousands of troops in there and instead of help it becomes a war for the USA. but of course presidents and generals wouldn't let us advance into North Vietnam, support on home front lost, we pull out.

The ACTUAL vietnam war has been going on for decades before the USA intervened with the conflict. The war was about body count and by god we won that, but lack of support on the homefront lead us to do a tactical withdraw from the area. I mean what was the point in having south vietnam as an ally when nixon secured china as a partner and counterweight agains't the soviet union in asia. I mean that was the main objective after all. Create a buffer in asia agains't soviet influence. What better way then to have china as an ally? Afterwords vietnam was no longer relivent whether it became communist or not.

Now vietnam allows american companies on its territory, It allows US naval ships to pass through its waters and has been begging washington for support in its disputes with china over the spratly islands.
