Here's another note Kristine should have considered. Some of the best Sci-fi literature has come out of Russia. Fuck! They even invented the word "robot" with "Rossum's Universal Robots." What about Evgeniy Zamyatin's opus "We?" It predated "1984" by 25 years and warned the world of the dangers of tyranny.
I dont think they understand that most of the vendors that attend Comic Con and other conventions are small private business owners and everything we buy from them helps stimulate the economy because these people arnt multination corporations who rely on bailouts to save them from their own ,mistakes

I dont know why there's so many dislikes on this video. The reporter totally got schooled at her own game. Props to Victoria for coming into that interview and expertly defending herself and cosplayers everywhere.
For a group that claims "we report on the other side of the story, not making any conclusions, but raising the unanswered questions," they aren't doing a very good job practicing that here.
So let me get this straight.... us geeks are spending $1000-$1500 on a weekend and celebrities, big business people, senators/representatives, etc are spending millions keeping up multiple homes and expensive hobbies on a REGULAR basis?
Uhm... we're having FUN. Spending money DOES contribute to economies (people still went to movies in the depression for example, and Roosevelt spent more to get OUT of the depression, though the wartime economy may have helped there) .
A completely ignorant and unfounded stand coming from the news anchor. Just because someone attends SDCC *does not* mean that they are not contributing to the economy in any other way. It's one weekend where people can relax and relieve themselves of stress by partaking in the hobbies they enjoy. Get over yourself and this smug superiority complex.
thank you victoria and also...wasting money on comic-con instead of helping, oh i'm sorry, get off your high horse of ignorance; there's football, facebook, HSN, ebay, angry birds, iMacs, iPods, iPads, and about a billion other things people waste time and money on, like that necklace, couldn't you have used THAT energy/money to help charity, everyone knows the world is going to shit, some of us do our part others don't, get OVER IT
Truly one of the stupidest "news" items I've ever seen. The suppositions and the conclusions this woman jumps to in this interview are embarrassingly biased and uniformed.
And that she's spending HER time and energy on this story undercuts any point she herself is trying to make.
What a ridiculous story. just stupid. if it was people dropping $1000 to go to the super bowl would RTamerica cover it? and could you goto the superbowl for $1000 if you had to fly in, rent a hotel and get tickets, food, silly hats, etc?
This is the most disgusting display of HORRID and BIASED reporting I’ve seen since the last time I watched FOX”news”. When will you be doing the story about how all the "Crazy sports fans" spend all their money on these "Crazy" sporting events instead of "protesting the economy? Or all those "Crazy Brides" spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on A SINGLE party that last about 8 hours instead of help the homeless or donating half of it to a charity? You should be ASHAMED of yourself.
This was incredibly rude, prejudiced and inappropriate. How many REAL social evils could you have spent your time targeting? Shame on you for questioning our right to have fun. Thanks, Scruffy Rebel, for doing us proud!
So we should spend our money on trips to Washington to "protest the economy" and not take our cash to these conventions and stimulating the local economies. Got it.
Question: How does one "protest the economy"? I'm not sure I understand this concept.
Bubble-headed "popular girl" tries to score points by putting down smart geek chick and is too dumb to realize she's being pwned. High school all over again.
Seriously? Of course it's important to pay attention to problems in your own country has but why take it out on a comic book convention? Asking why people spend money on a trip to Comic-Con is like asking why people spend money on vacations. They do it for some time off and enjoyment, there's no harm in that. Don't try to guilt trip a person for spending a weekend indulged in what they are passionate about. Comic-Con is not the scapegoat here, find a real solution to your problem.
So, apparently all the employees at RT America spend their money only enough to survive, then give the rest to charity. They must not do anything fun or leisurely if they're going to harass people who go to Comic-Con about not spending the money on charities instead. So, if anyone sees this anchor at a restaurant, or a movie, make sure to harass her about not giving the money to charity instead.
People pay thousands of dollars for tickets to sports games per season. 175 dollars for a con ticket (which probably would last a couple days considering how cons work) is nothing.
Such a biased news story... people watch movies, go to the theater and go to sports events... go harass them.... these comic cons are usually a place for people with common interests to meet , its an annual event, as opposed to the regular events some people attend which are objectively as pointless...how about people who pump in millions to teleevangelists who build big ass houses and buy jets... god im so mad im getting incoherent.
Fuck this shit. I hate how she cuts the woman off and blatantly antagonizes her and other Comic Con goers for their hobbies/interests. Seriously, fuck you.
Super Bowl tickets cost from $1700 to $6100 a ticket for a game that lasts at most what 4 or 5 hours?(I'm not a football fan). And people will pay a grand to get their families to Disney world and their gripeing about one weekend of "geek" envasions? Well as far as I am conserned you all can just *&^% off. I am not hurting anyone and I earned the money so I can spend it how I want to so there! :p
So let's see...you're trying to emulate Fox News and complain about the immorality of Comic-Con on the Internet, where most people are liberal nerds...and you think WE'RE the ones wasting our time and money?
Also, conventions like this one usually collect tens of thousands of dollars, or more, for charity each year.
In short, fuck you and the YouTube account you rode in on.
wow really she's goin to say all that stuff ok so don't spend ur heard earn money to help but give it to some bum on the street or go to d.c. for what nothing yea helpin out is cool n all but don't come at us why not go at the movie stars n millionaires who really can give it out n not hurt thier bank account glad the cosplay girl didn't just take but was givin it
Wow, you can tell someone just wanted to make con-goers look bad. When the girl with the star-trek pin started making valid points and standing up for herself, the one with the blond hair (who seems to be lacking real journalistic spirit, really), totally cut her off with the "we're out of time" excuse. Yeah. Forget enjoying yourself and doing something for the local economy, instead you should fly to the capitol and hold signs like everyone else, instead of something more useful, like spending
@hikarumaxwell (cont) money, moving currency, helping people actually keep their jobs and stay in business. Don't diss the people who are continuing to keep San Diego's tourism and the entertainment industry alive. Diss the haters who can't see past the colorful costumes to the fact that people spending all that money in that one place has helped to feed several families that weekend, and possibly beyond.
So you're spending quite a bit of money in various places, which is giving people jobs and allowing for businesses to strive. I think that's going to be 700% more effective than going to Washington DC to hold signs and complain about something politicians don't care much about.
What a self-important cunt. Does this bitch spend her every waking hour letting starving AIDS babies suckle her pendulous teats while serving soup to homeless mutilated war veterans? I somehow doubt not, so perhaps she should shove her self-righteousness up her fucking ass.
I love how the news anchor pretty much claims that we fans and hobbyists are the the cause of the poor, the homeless and the bad economy. That made be laugh. Everyone in America should stop having any form of fun-- that'll save the economy! Pfft.
The news anchor just doesn't understand us, so she thinks we're the bad ones and pushes the blame onto us. I love that, when the person she's interviewing, makes valid points the anchor gets all flustered because things aren't going as expected. Funny.
So... the fans who attend Comic-Con *aren't* hurting anyone, *aren't* dragging the economy down and are just having some innocent fun- of course that makes them the bad guys!!
I noticed that ditz of a reporter never said who *she* asks permission from before spending her own money...
We dont put down the people that go to sporting events that spend way to much at the field or court that only benefits them to pay the pro athletes. But people that go to convention are geeks. >_> they're the ones are helping and are the majority of the country now. I know my local anime convention has 20,000 people coming to Seattle each spring and they bring so much business.
@miko729 Very VERY good point. Let's stop judging people for how they spend their money in America. That's what freedom is all about. After all it is THEIR money!
What I'm curious about is why a non-American company is trying to force Americans to spend their money the way they want them to? If you do not like it, go home.
cosplayers buy fabrics for costumes, accessories, plane tickets, hotels, restaurants, merchandise... I don't see where this does NOT contribute to the economy. It actually plays a role in making some people have a JOB during that long convention weekend... flash news, the us is trying to create JOBS. um lack of serious arguments against convention attendees obviously~ they just needed something to complain about
OKAY Comic-Con is like when someone loves Hockey or Baseball and buy season tickets or buy thousand dollar footballs and jerseys but we dont critique what they do, but when people who love Comics, and Anime and Sci-Fi have conventions we are all labeled as "nerds" and "geeks" and its a waist of money. Think about it more before you start putting people like us down like that.
If comic-con is a waste of money and putting a curtain over reality, then movies, games and tv shows are a waste of money and blocks us from reality. Books and folktales should be gone too because they distract us from reality also. We should get rid of all amusement parks because they also distract us from reality and clearly a waste of money.
Seriously, are these people really bored or something? Do they have anything more serious to cover?
Wow, what a completely irrelevant statement about nerds going to Comic-Con while there's a debt crisis going on! Good thing that America's true patriots are working hard at baseball games and Disney World to get this thing solved.
These people are still contributing to the economy, especially San Diego's. They go to Comic-Con because they enjoy it, it's not like they have zoned out from all the economic issues that we are facing. That's really silly to assume that. The economic crisis is not gonna be fixed by 100 000 people deciding not to go to Comic Con, it requires a whole nation to fix a failing economy. Really, this was not a very good report and should be revised.
Why would we pass up the chance to go to a place that feels like home for a lot of fans to support a country and culture that doesn't support us? In the US fans are pushed out and written off, the reporter was writing off Victoria as she was talking--you could see it in her face. Going to a con feels like I've arrived home--everyone understands my fan tendencies and con-goers are some of the nicest people you'll meet. Why pass that up for a place where being a fan gets a blank stare or ridicule?
Fuckin dumb bitch, she doesn't even know what she's talking about. First, ''Comic-con groupies escape reality & leave others to save dark economy'' TROLOLOL, obvious troll is obvious missy, that might be the stupidest thing I've heard in my life, yeah there's an economical crisis, but wtf you're covering this like if people that go to comic-con are assholes because they do something they like. Second, at the end, you were getting told, 3 seconds later and boom, idiot on TV.
I thought news reports were supposed to be neutral, this seems be a tad bit one sided, bet this reporter picked on 'nerds and geeks' while in high school.
the reporter says that ComicCon "isn't reality." Sorry some people don't enjoy the "reality" like Jersey Shore or any other droll Mtv spews out. I think people are wasting their time watching that, but those fans don't get interviewed and accused of not putting their energy towards better things like helping the homeless. I hope this reporter sees what a bad reaction this horrifically unprofessional interview got and I hope her career as a journalist comes to an end because this was the worst.
Man, this has got to be the dumbest piece of news I have ever seen. And I have seen some terrible propaganda back in my home country. What I think happened: someone at the station saw people having fun and said, WE CAN'T HAVE THAT! I am contributing to the economy by derping around! Although I have no idea what they do in their spare time, I'm going to assume they do nothing! That's not ignorant at all! People will love it!
this is bullshit, I've never been to a con, but it's just stupid to think that people that go there don't do usefull stuff on their spare time, this news show is trying to give the wrong idea about cosplayers
ComicCon, by her own admission, contributes hugely to the local economy... I don't understand the harping on how that would be better spent, say going to Washington? So San Diego's economy should suffer more and have even more homelessness by pulling that money away from southern California and putting it into... um where, exactly? The D.C. area? So people can spend it in hotels and restaurants there while the protest, instead? What planet did this "reporter" come from?
Wow, spending money on a hobby, WHICH comes around once a year is totally unacceptable, but going on a trip to Disneyland, which is about the same amount of money being spent, is appropriate. I wonder the last time this "reporter" did some community service and donated a grand to a charity.
This reporter is rude and doesn't understand that taking a week off of life to enjoy oneself with like minded people isn't a destructive habit. Ugh, piss off.
No wonder Kristine only has 244 followers on Twitter. Who wants to listen to biased bitch who tries (and fails) at painting SDCC attendees as people not living in reality with no cares other than the con? Try doing some research before you open your mouth, "REPORTER."
Even though the reporter seems oblivious to how actual economic processes work, she also didn't get the memo on the *2,000* lives that were *directly* saved by the attendees of this con, via the 35th-annual blood drive.
...Not too mention all the major exhibitors + special guests donating towards countless auctions to benefit charities of their own choosing. Visibly helping others -&- having a fun time. Must be blasphemous?
Although: Keepin' it classy, as always, SR! Right there with ya!
How about the fact the many small buisness sales are helped by con attendees spending money at local buisness and dealers at fan conventions. Of course this reporter is typical liberal twit. I dare say money is better spent going to a con than giving it to a cause aka a community organizer, lobbyist or politician.
My charity that I would set up would be called Kids for comi-con, with your help we can raise enough money for one child to go to comi-con every year. LOL
Somebody should tell this idiot that spending money HELPS the economy, also think of all the jobs this is giving the artists in the artists alley and the security at the con as well as the event managers/organisers. If you're going to say this about comic-con you have to say this about every entertainment industry that earns money. What a fool.
Does that gal not spend money on her hair, nice fashionable clothes and manicures? Why doesn't she pop her hair into a ponytail and give that 120 dollars of stylist money to charity? The world is too full of hardship for people to not be able to spend a given amount of time and money on something that makes them happy. Hobbies are healthy and there is nothing shameful about them.
What RT news needs to realize is that not everyone in America is broke and starving....yes RT news, thanks to things like generational wealth, financial literacy and an overall self-productive life, some people are able and can afford to have fun from time to time.......
Um... I knit blankets to donate to organizations to give to the homeless. I go to one convention a year, and that is usually the closest I come to an actual vacation.
I actually wanted to ask the woman what the last thing she did for charity was.
RT America is just inept. I watched this silly twit interview an economist and as he was trying to explain something to her, she cut him off and told him they were "out of time" as if she were Walter Cronkite and there were a cereal commercial about to air, instead of an independent internet news show with all the time in the world. She is pathetic.
I don't understand how spending money to attend Comic-Con different then spending money on a vacation, sporting event, or hobby. Conventions have a positive effect on the local economy, and they don't stop people from donating to charitable organizations. This reporter appears contemptuous, as if she's picking out Comic-Con as her target instead of a trip to Disney because it's the less fashionable activity. She ends up fitting the definition of "bully" closer than the definition of "reporter".
Hey little twat, How much money do you spend to dye your hair? How much do you spend to keep your face from looking like your ass? And your nails? and other shit? Oh yea. about a grand. Right? Do you go help the homeless? No you're a stupid dibshit. and if you want to keep your job be nice to the "nerds". What goes around, comes around. BTW: LET HER FINISH TALKING! OR IMMA VUT YOU OFF!
Do you understand that them spending thousands of dollars at Comic-con helps the economy? I'm pretty sure that if San Diego didn't host Comic-con, it wouldn't get a lot of the money that they get for tourism.
And another thing, why are you judging them?
You don't know their personal lives, you can't say that they aren't donating their time to help others.
Sadly, your single-minded determination to make comic con out to be a brain damaged, economy destroying, cancerous pustule made it less than realistic to me. Aside from the state of the economy not being these individuals doing, aside from the suggestion that they would be better served by whining to DC about something DC has no way to fix overnight, you know aside from... reality, this might have been a decent, unbiased report.
I think this "report" is a a joke, completely unfair and most important is a logical fallacy. I suggest that Mrs. Kristine look up the definition of a logical fallacy.
Yes cosplayers and fans spend money on comic con, but we are not just people hiding in our closets, we come from all walks of life. While I did not go to comic con this year I am also UC gradute, I have two degrees, I volunteer at horse rescues and donate to the homeless.
Her two points are like saying that people who go on vacation should give up vacation and give it to a homeless person or that sports fans should stop going to sporting events and instead give their money to the scalpers outside so they can afford a living.
It's called a hobby. All people have them.
The sad thing is that becuase I saw this "article" I now have a very negative opinion of your channel and reporter and any good points you may have on other reports have been tarnished.
This woman is so fucking ignorant, she doesn't deserve the job she has. Her view: "Why do those jerks spend their money on comic con when they could give it to homeless people?" The two have nothing in common! That's like going up to someone in a toy store and saying "Why did you just buy a toy for your child on his birthday instead of investing it for their future?". I seriously hope people remember this the next time she covers comic con!
You're kidding me, right? This woman has to be the most ignorant person I've seen on television in a while. Do some research before opening your mouth, because I'm sure that deep down you are intelligent. You're just as thick as a rock.
Also, most conventions these days are helping with charity. Like the Red Cross aid for Japan, starving artist groups, and more. Again, do some research.
I think that RT whatever RT is needs to get a life. Otakon in Baltimore, Maryland is just as big as SDCC in San Diego, California. Baltimore Convention Center is alittle smaller than the San Diego Convention Center but it gets as many attendees as SDCC. Baltimore has never gotten tired of Otakon.
Cool story, lady. I'm sure any of your visits to Europe or Hawaii were very productive and full of economy-saving activities. We, however, are obviously a burden to society because we take a weekend to have fun and geek out with fellow geeks, and we're most definitely the reason the economy is shit. Maybe we should all die because we're ruining the entire world with OUR vacations, whilst yours are perfectly fine. (If you weren't able to tell, I was being sarcastic. This woman is an idiot.)
@HMaschine2 I might also add that spending money actually HELPS the economy because the money is circulating. Do some research, lady. That's how we got ourselves out of the Great Depression.
holy crap what a bitch I have never wanted to hurt someone so much -.-' and not all of anime/manga etc is an escape from reality there are tons that bring actual issues to the mainstream public ugh uneducated uptight people make me so angry why is it so hard for them to accept things that are different especially when it's not like we're hurting anyone or anything with what we enjoy *pissed*
Oh, that interviewer is such a bitch; grasping at straws trying to defame convention goers and interrupting Victoria when it was clear that her argument was better.
Guess you can`t even trust the news to be respectful of their own country`s citizens.
Reporter lady does not know how to say the word "cosplay" properly. Just goes to show she knows jack shit about the fad.
Who is she to judge others on what they spend their money on? Nobody is judging her for spending money on getting her hair done and buying designer clothes.
How dare she put all of the blame solely on cosplayers an congoers? Everyone has their hobbies and I'm sure that most people pour hundreds and thousands into doing what they love. How stupid. Just because the majority of my money goes towards conventions and cosplay doesn't mean that I'm a selfish prat that is to blame for homelessness! What a biased argument. Why blame us 'geeks', anyway? Blame everyone who slashes out money of luxuries and hobbies. I am sure that the news reporter does too.
Like that reporter here in Israel (That looks like he's 40-50) that told live that his friend corrected him about Megatron being the leader of the Decepticons and not the Autobots before continuing (?) with his report?
Case in point, just because people want to have some fun doesn't mean they don't know what's hapenning in our world, so please get your head out of your ass and undertand that not everyone have the same opinion as you.
really??? are we supposed to pay attention to this woman???
i wonder how she got that job, and how she gets to keep it, because clearly she is not doing anything right! i thought you were supposed to be prepared to do an interview or to present a topic... she clearly had no idea what she is talking about! if she is sooooo concerned about the economy and what to do to save it she should know that encouraging people to spend money is GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY!!!!
if people are spending loads of money in San Diego THAT IS GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY!
if people are traveling, by air, by bus, by whatever... ITS GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY!
let's ask San diego if they are tired of comic con if they want to take the convention to another city?!?! how would they do it every year without this economical boost huh? huh? huh?
i just have to laugh because you can take someone soooo dumb too serious, you know!!!
Oh. Oh wow. Money could be put to better use? Yeah lets use that lecture on everybody, not just the "nerds". On all the people that go on vacation, get plastic surgery, buy designer clothes, spend it on pricey cars. Honestly, that was one of the weakest arguments I have ever heard. Going out and doing something you love, such as attending conventions/cosplaying (which that bitch did a good job of incorrectly enunciating) isn't all that weird, just because some people don't get it.
What people spend their money on is none of this woman's business. Are there honestly that many people out there that spend ALL their money on charities and NEVER on themselves? Oh no, PEOPLE SPENDING THE MONEY THAT THEY EARNED THEMSELVES ON SOMETHING FUN FOR A WHOLE WEEKEND!!!!
This video raises a salient question: is it morally permissable to spend money on anything other than ending homelessness?

ok this is the MOST FUCK STUPID THING I HERD SOME ONE FUCKING SAY
1.people are homeless because our economy is already in the shitter
2.if we save our goddamn money to go to a convention we should go
3.WERE FUCKING HELPING THE ECONOMY BY BUYING EVERYTHING!
4. NERDS?! really ok me and my friend are pure weaboo and obsessed with homestuck and we don't give a damn
5. if they cut any "comic like" conventions we wont be able to escape our fucked up reality
and there you have it ((from Victoria))

This is the most disgusting display of HORRID and BIASED reporting I’ve seen since the last time I watched FOX”news”. When will you be doing the story about how all the "Crazy sports fans" spend all their money on these "Crazy" sporting events instead of "protesting the economy? Or all those "Crazy Brides" spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on A SINGLE party that last about 8 hours instead of help the homeless or donating half of it to a charity? You should be ASHAMED of yourself.

So we should spend our money on trips to Washington to "protest the economy" and not take our cash to these conventions and stimulating the local economies. Got it.
Question: How does one "protest the economy"? I'm not sure I understand this concept.

hiddenrio 5 months ago 21

Ginormous76 5 months ago 34
People pay thousands of dollars for tickets to sports games per season. 175 dollars for a con ticket (which probably would last a couple days considering how cons work) is nothing.
Zhetty 6 months ago 5
Such a biased news story... people watch movies, go to the theater and go to sports events... go harass them.... these comic cons are usually a place for people with common interests to meet , its an annual event, as opposed to the regular events some people attend which are objectively as pointless...how about people who pump in millions to teleevangelists who build big ass houses and buy jets... god im so mad im getting incoherent.

Wow, you can tell someone just wanted to make con-goers look bad. When the girl with the star-trek pin started making valid points and standing up for herself, the one with the blond hair (who seems to be lacking real journalistic spirit, really), totally cut her off with the "we're out of time" excuse. Yeah. Forget enjoying yourself and doing something for the local economy, instead you should fly to the capitol and hold signs like everyone else, instead of something more useful, like spending
hikarumaxwell 6 months ago
@hikarumaxwell (cont) money, moving currency, helping people actually keep their jobs and stay in business. Don't diss the people who are continuing to keep San Diego's tourism and the entertainment industry alive. Diss the haters who can't see past the colorful costumes to the fact that people spending all that money in that one place has helped to feed several families that weekend, and possibly beyond.
hikarumaxwell 6 months ago
If you think about it...
$200-300 hotel fees
$100 in food(If you're a stingy spender like me)
$100 in the dealer's room
$150 for costumes
$50-80 for tickets (Depending on the convention)
$100-600 in airlines
So you're spending quite a bit of money in various places, which is giving people jobs and allowing for businesses to strive. I think that's going to be 700% more effective than going to Washington DC to hold signs and complain about something politicians don't care much about.

Funny.

We dont put down the people that go to sporting events that spend way to much at the field or court that only benefits them to pay the pro athletes. But people that go to convention are geeks. >_> they're the ones are helping and are the majority of the country now. I know my local anime convention has 20,000 people coming to Seattle each spring and they bring so much business.

cosplayers buy fabrics for costumes, accessories, plane tickets, hotels, restaurants, merchandise... I don't see where this does NOT contribute to the economy. It actually plays a role in making some people have a JOB during that long convention weekend... flash news, the us is trying to create JOBS. um lack of serious arguments against convention attendees obviously~ they just needed something to complain about
Vanjayy 6 months ago 5
OKAY Comic-Con is like when someone loves Hockey or Baseball and buy season tickets or buy thousand dollar footballs and jerseys but we dont critique what they do, but when people who love Comics, and Anime and Sci-Fi have conventions we are all labeled as "nerds" and "geeks" and its a waist of money. Think about it more before you start putting people like us down like that.
LuluMedly 6 months ago 3
If comic-con is a waste of money and putting a curtain over reality, then movies, games and tv shows are a waste of money and blocks us from reality. Books and folktales should be gone too because they distract us from reality also. We should get rid of all amusement parks because they also distract us from reality and clearly a waste of money.
Seriously, are these people really bored or something? Do they have anything more serious to cover?
MissdWoo 6 months ago 7
Wow, what a completely irrelevant statement about nerds going to Comic-Con while there's a debt crisis going on! Good thing that America's true patriots are working hard at baseball games and Disney World to get this thing solved.
ladybot 6 months ago 6
These people are still contributing to the economy, especially San Diego's. They go to Comic-Con because they enjoy it, it's not like they have zoned out from all the economic issues that we are facing. That's really silly to assume that. The economic crisis is not gonna be fixed by 100 000 people deciding not to go to Comic Con, it requires a whole nation to fix a failing economy. Really, this was not a very good report and should be revised.
nurieko 6 months ago
Why would we pass up the chance to go to a place that feels like home for a lot of fans to support a country and culture that doesn't support us? In the US fans are pushed out and written off, the reporter was writing off Victoria as she was talking--you could see it in her face. Going to a con feels like I've arrived home--everyone understands my fan tendencies and con-goers are some of the nicest people you'll meet. Why pass that up for a place where being a fan gets a blank stare or ridicule?

ComicCon, by her own admission, contributes hugely to the local economy... I don't understand the harping on how that would be better spent, say going to Washington? So San Diego's economy should suffer more and have even more homelessness by pulling that money away from southern California and putting it into... um where, exactly? The D.C. area? So people can spend it in hotels and restaurants there while the protest, instead? What planet did this "reporter" come from?

I don't understand how spending money to attend Comic-Con different then spending money on a vacation, sporting event, or hobby. Conventions have a positive effect on the local economy, and they don't stop people from donating to charitable organizations. This reporter appears contemptuous, as if she's picking out Comic-Con as her target instead of a trip to Disney because it's the less fashionable activity. She ends up fitting the definition of "bully" closer than the definition of "reporter".

Amazing report Kristine.
How about donate your time to a shelter?
kimudo 6 months ago 4
Part 1:
I think this "report" is a a joke, completely unfair and most important is a logical fallacy. I suggest that Mrs. Kristine look up the definition of a logical fallacy.
Yes cosplayers and fans spend money on comic con, but we are not just people hiding in our closets, we come from all walks of life. While I did not go to comic con this year I am also UC gradute, I have two degrees, I volunteer at horse rescues and donate to the homeless.

Part 2:
Her two points are like saying that people who go on vacation should give up vacation and give it to a homeless person or that sports fans should stop going to sporting events and instead give their money to the scalpers outside so they can afford a living.
It's called a hobby. All people have them.
The sad thing is that becuase I saw this "article" I now have a very negative opinion of your channel and reporter and any good points you may have on other reports have been tarnished.
