Wait, the chest peice, the one that rotates and flips over? Just a small suggestion, but it might be cooler if it sliped to the side and fliped over. just a small suggestion

that is amazing, can see were yr going with it, plz look at my transforming stapler, theres no way that mine is better than yours, i have only benn doing 3d animation for 2 weeks :P
only problem is the unrealistic motion of these type transformers. these peices would have to cris cross. i know these are just floating parts moveing more than transforming
Who gives a crap about all that. Do you think that the movie was any more "realistic" in transformation. If thats the case then wheres Bumblebee'driveshaft and exhaust system when he transforms? This animation is Godly! Look at his Train on tracks former. HOS optimus prime I believe. Anyhow...awsome job!
Wow, great anim job! I have a feeling that lock-in parts of animation somehow have to be ephasized a bit more, but it's still many times better than the movie.
i m an architecture student in Mexico... and we need to use some 3d programs, you know... to make our virtual models and renders... and i really appreciate you job!
which program... or programs do you use??
for my little things hehe i use programs like sketchup... archicad... and my friends use v ray, artlantis and 3d max studio... could you tell me what program do you use, or , could you recomend me something... or some tutorial???
Actually, the head doesn't have any moving parts on it :P I didn't bother since it was so far away in the final shot. You can see a closeup of the head near the start of my September 08 reel (in my videos)
ohh!! it looks really good!! All that pieces are animated!!! May you do a tutorial explaining a little of your work??? It's very interesting!!! And the results are wonderfull!!
thats awsome! how do u do it? do u actually animate every single object with keyframes? or is there an easier way like using expressions or something?
I like my models to be in one layer and I use bones to animate them. A huge lifesaver for animation is making bones animate symmetrically using the follower tool, so I only have to animate the ones on the right side and the left follow them (symmetrically of course).
sooooo detailed!!!

Nice animation. Did you manually keyframe the animation or did you rig first then animate?

If the floating parts go together to be one thing then come apart and rebuild themselves to be another, than it's transformation.

Did you used a "pathway" tool to move the objects or you used a special software for this? Were some of the objects were following a set up path?

I'd like to see a guy who tries to do a transformation animation using traditional 2D... A nearly impossible work
Attilaakiraly 3 years ago
some people do transformations in after effects on youtube.

After Effects? You could do that? cool.... I'm crap in After Effects :-P My last project with it was a bomb!

you should have the other side of the front circle(that flips around in the begining) have an autobot or decepticon symbol

Also, how long did it take to prepare the chest? (Including objects, materials, animation, and rendering?)

dandeentremont 4 years ago
Anyways, if you have any idea what I'm babbling about (I know i wouldn't) the formula for symmetry in follower is:
X -1,
Y 1,
Z 1,
H -1,
P 1,
B -1,
I understand this is a horrible description. Please say so if you want me to elaborate.
