  • No TV! Smart couple!!

  • It's great for one person maybe... I do like the idea though. Neat.

  • Born and raised in Brooklyn, NYC. I can totally see this working until Ursula began to walk. Then it's time for nice, affordable, spacious Brooklyn apartment, Max and Kate!

  • @N1CKF3D ; Same page as you, excellent question.

  • No way that would work once the baby got big enough to sleep in something bigger than a basket.

  • That that apartment is even to small to fit all of oprah's shoes

  • No Thanks! and I am a Native New Yorker born in Brooklyn. I now live in Atlanta Georgia in a House 1250ft. small compared to most houses. but two Bedrooms, one a master with a lot of space and one a smaller room which is almost the size of this complete apt. There is NO way on this earth I would shell out that much money to live in a Shoe Box like that I dont Care if it is in NYC. The money the shell out monthly on this match box they should be Saving for a house.

  • What are they gonna do when the baby grows up?

  • I agree. Why would you name your daughter Ursula? Such an old name....

  • Come to think of it... my car is pretty cramped. I'll just paint it white so it becomes BIGGER!

  • I got a tent that's 3x bigger then his apartment!

  • and the baby sleeps in a basket why ?

  • they have moved. He runs a website: apartment therapy and it shows how to live in a small space

  • Remembering. George Wells's novel, "The Time Machine. " I do not know which is worse? ... if being a Morlock ... (enslaved and free human traits). or Eloi (zombie with too much free time, which makes it an "idle" entity that does not think) ...

  • and when Ursula gets bigger you need to leave all that super small and organised stuff behind...

  • Oprah's sock drawer is bigger than this place!

  • @ zipacna1980 lmfao

  • Holy gosh! Imagine if one farts there?

  • @zipacna1980 diaper changes alone would be enough

  • ursula's a black name

  • The beby's bed either looks like, or IS a basket.

  • what happens when the baby growns up and needs a bed of her own?

  • @na3boo The more famous the city the smaller/expansive the aparments are.For you to compare NY to M'sia is absurd.

  • Woman in manhatten has a 90 SQ FT.

  • they treat the baby like a pet..wth..=.=" ya will have to move when she grows up..that's kinda stupid..=x

  • @l3v3l27 Bullshit, they seem like great parents. Back in the old days, do you think babies had cottages? or even in poor countries today? as long as shes warm and comfortable, then how is she mistreated? at least they are parents, unlike most white people today who are just interested in making money

  • @JoanBeatrington001 i never said they r not great parents nor did i said the baby was mistreated..-.-" y u getting all sensitive..o.O"

  • @JoanBeatrington001

LOL I was going to completely agree with your statement until you threw in a great fat racial generalization. Still, yes, baby in a basket- I don't see the big deal. Better than a cardboard box, that's for sure.

  • @TheThreeWeavers Lol yea, i was only catagorizing white people today because im angry that they are not reproducing anymore, hugely because feminism has brainwashed women to avoid any gender roles and a nurturing motherly way of life, to pursue a career for materialism. I agree, a small basket is cute! the baby would be perfectly fine and quite happy, as long is its fed and warm, the baby will be doing great. I like little apartments sometimes

  • @JoanBeatrington001

Well, as a white female, I feel the ideals of gender role are no longer relevant in today's times. If we were living in communities like we did in the past, it would be, but life today as a house wife is a very lonely and isolating one. Housewives are also penalized for not working. Still, not all women make good mothers. I'd rather children had loving parents instead of reluctant ones. Still, I agree with you to some extent.

Looks like a healthy place for a baby :)

  • Wifey is pretty hot.

  • what happend when the baby out grew her bed where did she sleep

  • und was machen die wenn das kind älter wird muss es dann bei den eltern im bett schlafen ?

  • I have about 240 square feet in NYC. Believe me, you learn to economize and organize. Well, in theory. I'm still working on it.

  • i love this, it looks so cosy!

  • why would you name your baby ursula?

  • @N1CKF3D

Because it's a beautiful name. Millions of men are still having wet dreams about Ursula Andress, the sex symbol of the 1960's.

  • @N1CKF3D why wouldn't you?

  • @N1CKF3D you should watch "George in the Jungle"...maybe he name it for it

  • I like Maxwell who's apartment we just say. He was a designer on an HGTV show that helped people living in small spaces.

But looks like they will have to move when the baby starts getting bigger.

  • This is not small.

  • some people have coffins larger than this.

  • This needs persons who are very, very organized. In the end of the day the walls will fall over, as its so tiny. The cupboards in the bedroom could have been perhaps over the bed, as there is no space to move around the floor. Interesting, but too tiny for 3 people.

  • all yours for $2800.00 per month!

  • this is so cute :)

  • I've lived in NY my whole life..and yes this is a small apartment...and yes there are a lot of apartments smaller and shittier than this....BUT i can honestly say id live in quite a crappy space to keep experiencing the never-ending energy of NY.... while i'm single at least. As far as raising a family in an apartment like that.....I dunno if i'd have it in me. The suburbs have their advantages as far as child rearing goes.

  • Japan is like half the size of these apartments because Japan is very small.

  • i believe i would go mad in that place

  • I could totally do that. How much do they pay a month? Anybody know?

  • what if someone farts . . .

  • @Taz11211 hahaha the baby gets the blame of the fart!! ahaah

  • Wow it looks nice but I would go crazy

  • Yuck. I could never do that. Especially with a baby. I could feel my heart rate rising when they were taping in the claustrophobic bedroom. Move to Queens!

  • That is great for maybe five years, then where will the lovely daughter reside?

  • @finbomartini Get a life!

  • All to live in Manhattan, eh? Seems silly.

  • The only thing to do there would be to live and to have lots of sex.

  • As I've gotten older I've been very intrigued by small spaces like this and love that people do this. I am kind of curious where your baby sleeps since she's obviously too big for a basket now. You have this designed perfectly though..I love it.

  • i bet oprahs toilet is bigger than their app

  • Their baby sleeps in a basket?!

  • @wizofozfan007 It's a Moses Basket, quite common :)

  • @wizofozfan007 Babies have been sleeping in baskets for thousands of years... :/ They don't need a big crib to sleep.

  • @wizofozfan007 I slept in a basket as a baby... it's a lot cheaper than getting a crib.

  • I was bitching about the heat here in La today but here you can have a place paid for under $50K. Decent neighborhood great schools and we have work. I can visit NYC If I want to see the city. Most of the year we have the run of the place temps are 35-70 degrees most of the year it is just those summer months you want to go to the mountians. We were broke 10 years ago now we are debt free 07prius 06 scion trailerland paid for.Our old place was under 400 square ft for 2 years with newborn.

  • Wow, too small for two people.

  • how much does an apartment of this size cost?

  • damn....

in msia, the smallest apts i know of are ard 600sft-ish. and i thought it's impossible for myself to live in those.

  • @na3boo really? I live in 450 sq ft no problem. Where is msia?

  • I wouldn't be able to live there. itsjust way too cramped.

  • amazing video i live in australia , i have a huge house, with a huge back yard and front yard . to much work for me though . i love your place.

  • you godda be very organize to live in small area like this, and forget about going shopping... where you gonna put new stuff?

  • looks like someone doest make much money....

  • my los angeles apt is that small or maybe smaller. our kitchen area isnt even that big & it doesnt have 4 burners. there's no room for a sliding door at the bathroom. i dont even have a closet for my own things. my roommate shares the closet w/ our toiletry supplies.

  • This doesn't look small at all. Maybe, compared to Oprah's apartment.

  • @fernandesfran she doesnt have an apartment, she has 7 estates though

  • Easy...when the kid grows up, they will just have a sofabed in the living room.

They could even have another baby in there after the 1st one grows up a little.

  • Inspiring!

  • To have a house so small, their kitchen is very decently sized. That's a bit surprising to me. That said, I could not live there by myself, let alone w/ an entire family of 3..

  • that baby is so cute! when the baby gets older they will have to move. such a small space to put clothing!

  • That's cute and well organised... but there's only so long that baby's going to be able to sleep in a basket...

  • such a tiny cute tidy apartment! <3

  • wow very cool !

  • This place seems gigantic compared to the tiny hole-in-the-wall i have

  • thats actually quite standard for manhattan, but i never heard of a family living in such conditions -- its usually students, artists, singles or couples at most. they will have to move out eventually when the kid grows up. ah the things people are willing to sacrifice to live in the heart of NYC.

  • That's going to be a horrible place to live when the kid grows up. But nice Setup!!

  • thats a nice ass apartment. i bet there paying at least 2500 to be in the city

  • If you are a Single person you could live in an Apartment evan smaller than that.

  • People in NYC have to live in closet-sized apartments! Real Estate is so expensive that even the tiniest of apartment can be over $2000 a month! In fact, there are now various specialty stores in NYC that dedicate themselves to selling products that maximize your space, things like platforms that you can place under your bed to raise them and thereby add storage space, shelves for the kitchen, living room or bathroom, and containers of all sorts, sizes and shapes, etc..

  • damn thats my closet. and i only have 1 jacket in there... no joke....

  • fleetwood, uh, you must know nothing about new york. They probably are well middle class and hardworking..It's just that apartments are so ridiculously expensive in new york, duh...trust me, they have pretty decent jobs to be able to live THAT well.

  • @emergencyexit16: You seem to know NYC lifestyle quite well, how much would be the monthly rent of a place like that?

  • @Sattack210 Well, it really depends on the neighborhood. A place like that on the Upper East Side would be like 4 or 5000 a month. If it's in brooklyn, probably around 2,000. But really, I don't know much about new york. I had a friend with a studio apartment smaller than that on the Upper East Side and he paid 2000 a month, and it wasn't nearly as nice.

  • @emergencyexit16: That´s ridiculous... you have to earn six figures to live a border line decent lifestyle in NYC... and there is nothing left to save...

  • @Sattack210 Well, to live in Manhattan at least. I think you could survive off/live decently around 30 or 40 a year if you live in Brooklyn or right across the river in Jersey or maybe in an ungentrified part of the Bronx or Harlem.

  • @fleetwoodsucks lol, do you know how much that apartment probably costs? I'm sure they both have well paying jobs.

  • poor mother fuckers, thats smaller than the smallest room in my house

  • that place is to big.

  • you must be a conservative that the only thing you have to say

  • Blows me away ....

    I will never complain a-gain!

  • Comment removed

  • I would totally buy that when I move to NYC for my job as an FDNY EMT!

But I would never raise a family there, it would be just me.

  • its no different than living in an R.V. if youv'e ever done that then you know space is of the utmost importance and how you utilize it. kinda makes them n.y.c. trailer trash. with a high end rent.

  • if they live in NYC then this is easily 1500 per month or higher depending on whether its the lower or upper east or west side.

  • @DearNadia It's west village.

  • I could totally live there and be happy. nice place.

  • woah and I thought mine was small!!!!

  • japan has smaller apartments

  • I agree... Some apartment have living room at the same time a bed room as well it's doable... :D

  • Absolutely, and I've lived there too. Never lived in NYC though but it looks fun and interesting. I think being able to make the most out of a small space is a good trait!

  • @islespatrick ... we should send japan a prize ... they win!

  • i want it! haha

  • I'll bet it's like $875 a month.

  • i bet its more than $875 a month.

  • I like it but I wonder if they still live there now that their child is older and probably tearing through the house! We have a two-year old in NYC and you'd be surprised at how much space a toddler needs to move around! : )

  • Everyone in America seems to think that more is better (when it comes to space in a home), but I like VERY small living spaces. Small spaces force you to be neater, and more organized. Plus - a smaller space doesn't require a lot of stuff to fill the emptiness to make it feel cozy.

  • Totally, right now my roommate just has 700sqft to mess up. I'm moving to 200. Just spin with a sponge and the joint is clean!

  • im american and i agree with you 100%

  • For the size of the place, that's a wonderful design. I'd love living there as a single guy.

  • i feel clausetraphobic just from watching

  • LOL..I know what you mean!!

  • just put bars where your doors are at and call it prison.

  • the thing is they are gonna have to move out very soon cuz of the buba lol

  • i love oprah

  • Thats a nice palce.

I dont know if I would want to raise a family there, but for a single person living in NYC like myself, I would love it!

  • nice

  • Too small for me.

  • wow that's pretty cool.

  • i'd suffocate.

  • Wow, I hope they plan on moving before that kid gets much bigger... That could make for an awkward childhood living situation.

  • never thought about it that way. lol

  • cool!

  • This is wrong. If you have small room - paint it black! It will seem bigger - white rooms seem smaller. DOROTHY DRPAER KIDS> LEARN IT!

    billybeyond

  • WOW! I thought my first apartment was small at 300 sq. ft. I now live in a mansion sized at 600 sq. ft. compared to that walk in closet.

  • U can't sleep in a basket forever D:

  • imfao hahahahah your too funny!

  • I think thats awesome. It shows you dont need to throw your money away on a big place. I'd rather live in a great location and have an apartment like that for cheap, instead of paying top dollar for a big apartment away from all the action.

  • that's crazy! wht happens when the kids 5? lol sleeping in the basket? lol wtf

  • LOL

  • LMAO. seriously huh

  • this is not chic

    this is insane!!!

    why is this so trendy

  • i agree. this is not a way to live. it's more of a design exhibit than anything else.

  • @vinger79 people like this are the 'greenest' without even trying. It uses very little energy to heat and A/C the place. Their electricity consumption is likely 10% of the average American. They walk to the stores unlike the suburbanites who drive their SUV to the grocery store, then to a restaurant, then to home depot etc. Why do people have to spread themselves out in Mcmansions? You can only sit in one room at a time.

  • soter

  • who's the guy sitting next to Oprah?

  • saahir18, he's a designer she has on her show from time to time. i forget his name, but he has his own line of furniture at some stores. get on oprah and you too can have your own line of something, hahaha.

  • thanks for answering the question.I rather be on Oprah for writing a hit book than showing off high priced chairs to people. Not that he's bad at his job but furniture is not my thing.

  • i agree saahir18. take care!

  • That baby can't sleep in that basket too long!

  • thats what i was thinking lol

  • I like it.

  • i live in a one bed appt with 3kids,less room than that, but the view of the sea is the best.maybe i make a vid when i tidy up now, that place neat..

  • Nice apartment but you have to move sooner or later for the baby

  • agree

  • 265 sq ft? Why live in NY?

I'm not taking any tips from Maxwell...

  • living small is cool.

  • @edgardogeorge The greatest selection of Restaurants, bars, museums, concerts, plays, movies, sporting events etc. on the Planet. There is no reason to sit in your big house bored with nothing to do.

  • Very interesting video! Thank you!
