I personally would recommend staying away from Century 5.45 AK builds unless it's a recently made Bulgarian model with a left side rail mount. I've been shooting my Tantal for about a year now and I can guarantee you will eventually want to put a scope mount on your AK and the easiest way to do that is with the left side rail.

The older ones, yes. If you can get a more recent build from 2010 or 2011 that has a serial number that starts with "TTY" instead of just "TT," that model should shoot at types of 5.45 ammo without any problems.

Arsenal SGLs are Russian converted Saigas.

The Bulgarians, the SLRs, I think are converted Bulgarian sporterized rifles.

The SGLS with the folding stock trunions and the SLRs are the closest thing one can get to a AK74M or AK103 with shitty 922R US made parts on it.

you can get a krebs mount that mounts to the top of the dust cover...just remove the front sight and attach it to you rear trunnion and bam you gotta mounting platform to mount optics...not to mention it also has a pep hole sight at the rear to increase the distance from the front sight to the rear sight....making it more accurate.

Its a civillian model saiga reciever and barrel that have been hacked and beaten on by Arsenal monkies, and is a conglomeration of bulgarian surplus and U.S. made parts to make it look like an AK. Arsenal is just as bad as Century, they just cost more.

I disagree, I think Arsenals are higher quality in terms of fit and accuracy than wasrs, sars, and yugos. Chrome lined barrels, good mag dimples, brand new rifle. I think they are good. Most AKs are going to be just as accurate as the Arsenal but Arsenal's quality has decreased lately, I don't know, mine is about a year and a half old. I like Arsenal.

@RyanR3volution - Not really, its still a crapshoot. Arsenals can and do have the same issues as the other rifles you mention. Sometimes you get a great one, sometimes you get a lemon.

And that is correct about the mil spec polymer handguards.  I've used both and there is a pretty big difference. The soviet polyamide reinforced handguards/stocks are much more durable and they handle heat alot better.

Their Saiga-based models are pretty decent since all they really do on those is change out the gas block, front sight block, FCG and stock. Their finishes are terrible though. For the money K-var wants to charge, you can get a rifle built by a reputable smith that will be far far better.

Yeah, I agree the finish sucks on Arsenal guns but for my purposes, It is going to go through a lot of wear because I want my AK to be a survival rifle . I only went to Arsenal because I do not want to go through a whole mess to look for a AK. When I get in the market for a 5.45 Krink type rifle, I am not going the Arsenal route because they are real strange on distributing SBR ready guns. Do you know any reputable 5.45 Krinkov type rifle sellers?

@RyanR3volution - that's the only place I've seen for 5.45. If you want .223 or 7.62, you can try to find an arsenal 107-ur (7.62) or a 106-ur (.223/5.56). Unless you just find a really good deal on one of the arsenals, your best bet is really going to be buying the kit and having it built. You're going to be waiting for months for the stamp regardless of what method you use.

I went out and bought a polish tantal and It ended up being one of the models with a 5.56/.223 barrel. I was very impressed with the fit/finish of the rifle but the barrel would not stabilize the bullets and they would hit the target sideways(keyhole). Spend the extra cash and don't take the chance. Can't go wrong with an arsenal or converted saiga.
