  • Who is the idiot writing the subtitles.Get it the f#¤&k of the screen.

  • Premiums have gone up 119%, but PROFITS have gone up well over 300%. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that while they are increasing premiums, they are actually cutting health care.

If you get sick, they are going to stall and stall and stall until your give up. Your poor, you can't wait forever. They are rich, they can wait indefinitely.

  • I've got to say, I'm glad the dumb-asses who fall for this are the first to sign up for a snow job. The get ill and are wiped. Suckers deserve whatever they get. Hahahaha.

  • So the government is going to do a better job? Please I would refer you to the USPS, Amtrak,Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. The real answer is allowing more insurance companies in and allow them to sell across state lines. Create real competition and stop playing all these ridiculous games.

  • @krblizzard Exactly how does an Insurance Company become more competitive other than making premiums cheaper by not paying?

  • The government isn't going to be totally happy unless they own us all body and soul! 5 years from now none of us will even have a pot to piss in!

  • OK - I'll take that bet. If I'm still around here on YouTube look me up & we'll talk about how our lives have changed, economically speaking.

  • SO DAMN TRUE!!! Amazing how people believe all the lies they got going around to kill the reform.

  • Health is a condition not a commodity

  • Correction, HEALTH is A HUMAN RIGHT!!! Not a "condition", not a "commodity" and not something u can play around in order to get more money.

  • megawarpvideo, And where are you getting your information?

  • It is an option so when I say drop Aflac and pay for TriCare (government insurance used with military and medicare) my company pays them. Cheaper same service and we are all happier.

  • they are trying to amend the healthcare bill to allow the insurance companies to up their profit levels to 35% that means of every $1 in premium payments they keep 35 cents in profit instead of paying claims ( which is 10% higher than vegas casinos )

  • Thats what I strongly believe....no one of us is bigger than God...did you think he would let that happen forever?

I mean, right now, right here: What is it THAT YOU BELIEVE ABOUT THIS LIFE? Do you have any rules?

  • replace the word god with ' I ' and reread ur comment

  • It cannot be that some privates monkeys make money off, with illegal and immoral and inhuman means, off people who get sick, especially when the food is contaminated, the houses full of molds and the emergency room brings ya right onto homelessness....

If you pray for the innocent suffering people, who have not much money and are being abused by more powerful, rich people, if you stick with the moral truth, good times are comin for ya.

  • This is the last comment I will write on those type of topics, anyone who wants to read, read:

Those debates are done on top of the blood of many people. Sometimes you have to stand up and fight for your basic, human rights in life. Or even just, stay seated and believe and speak on behalf of your belief.

  • If what you're saying is that these protesters, town hall brats, and tea baggers are shaming and abusing the right to free speech that our fathers died for, I agree with you.

  • How can you "abuse" the right to free speech? By saying something you don't agree with?

Even if we assume they're all stupid, misguided, wrong, and hateful, I STILL say that unless the right to free speech belongs to the stupid, the wrong, the misguided, and yes, even the hateful, then the right belongs to NO ONE.

When it comes to free speech, we must (and should) protect the haters to protect ourselves.

  • Sure, I agree with your sentiment but allow me to clarify.

In the case of the town hall brats, they're abusing their rights of speech by disrupting civic functions for political gain. It's like shouting "fire" in a crowded theater.

And the protesters and teabaggers are not quite abusing their rights yet but they are close. The protests sometimes tote around guns and hint at future events being an armed mob. That's abusing the right to peaceful assembly and the right to bear arms.

  • Technically, you could abuse free speech if you do some attack a person or group of people based on race, sex, age, status, religion, etc. That harm the reputation of the person and offense the same person. Saying that somebody is a cunt, an ass hole, a commy is not cover by this limitation... Because the plaintiff have to prove is not an ass hole/a cunt/a commy, and that this hurt his reputation. But saying "this fucking stupid negro is a fucking liar" is cover, indeed.

  • Obama needs to put on his "big boy pants" and just do it, its the right thing. Imagine if france suddenly did our healthcare HMO system? They would riot like a hornets nest knocked off the rafters!

  • Does anyone know if PBS and or NPR cover the facts like Cenk does?

This would be a good test if they actually cover the news or if they aren't any better from cable news outlets like CNN,MSNBC etc

  • watch happyness machines. Great piece of propaganda....err human relations.

  • You really missed the mark on this one, Cenk. Here is what you probably won't hear anywhere: The insurance companies suffered major losses during the economic meltdown and they need a BAILOUT! Remember AIG? If the government mandates that you must have healthcare coverage, they are essentially guaranteeing revenue to the industry. So even if they must cover preexisting conditions, they'll still come out ahead. And if you can't afford healthcare, they'll still get paid because of increased taxes.

  • Exactly!!! And before that they were shifting costs from losses in property/casualty from hurricanes & wildfires and all the hits taken when Enron, Worldcom and others imploded. Healthcare costs themselves have only gone up MUCH more slowly than premiums. There have been studies showing this, but only about one article ever covered it.

  • Americans are to stupid to know that they are being lied to. Too stupid to know that they've always been lied to. Too stupid to exist in the future. And that goes for all nations, people are too stupid, collectively

  • Americans are not stupid, their ignorant to the facts.

  • Negative, they are stupid and I will tell you why. There is no debate whether politicians lie to us all the time, yet they believe them every time they come up with another lie and vote one of the two parties in. The information is there, you just have to look and unfortunately americans seem to be incapable of doing so. Americans Are Stupid, dumbed down by the poor education system, dumbed down by medications, and dumbed down by television. AMERICANS ARE STUPID (of course not all, but enough)

  • ignorant: Lacking education or knowledge....

stupid: Slow to learn or understand; obtuse....

Americans are not stupid, some are, but most are just ignorant....but thats my belief,

  • and then there's the growing trend of the "proudly ignorant"...

  • The insurance industry has already won.

    Time to move to Canada.

  • Actually, no one here has read the bill. No one in Congress has read it. Only Alex Jones and a few others have read it. So, until you understand the bill and all its attachments, you have no right to comment.

  • "Alex Jones" has read the bill.

    The fuck he has.

You accept HIS word for it? LOL

So, what aspect of the health care plan involves the NWO?

It ALWAYS involves the NWO, with Jones.

  • alex jones is hired disinfo agent, beware of his linguistic skills and emotional persuasion..... just like doc. steven greer

  • Americans are screwed. Look at all the saps coming onto YT repeating these same buzzwords and doing the work of big corporations for free. Bravo.

  • We are laughing at you from over the northern border.

  • not going to universal healthcare will cost us trillions more, better to pay a little more now than to keep cost from killing us in the future.

  • Publlic Option is OUT !

  • I have glacouma an eye disease that makes you go blind. That is a "pre-exisiting condition" since birth. I have to use meds for the rest of my life. I got a job than got laid off. I applied to Pacific HealthCare and HealthNet & got denied. $200 a month for meds & $80 for eye exam. All insurance has denied me. I am ready for a PUBLIC OPTION since private rejects me. I don't want to go blind just so I can get medical. Pass a bill for private to lower cost & accept me or allow Public Option.

  • So because I have a job and health insurance, I should be for a socialized health system that will cost me tax dollars. I had socialized health care when my dad was in the military, which by the way there is your solution, if your not covered join the military, but anyways I tore my miniscus in my knee and had to wait 10 months for an MRI. No thanks I'll take the evil health insurance I have now.

  • I hope you never lose your job... and I hope you never get any chronic condition that will make you too expensive and a financial loss for the insurance company. If you ever get sick like that, you will be dropped quickly and you;ll be begging for govt assistance.

  • why the fuck did you need an MRI for a simple knee injury? my friend just tore is meniscus and he only needed an X Ray, I don't think your MRI was necessary, of course they're going to put you on the back burner for 10 months for an elective procedure. We fucking need the public option baaad to challenge these evil companies

  • MRI for a knee injury? Asinine.

  • who cares

  • Government healthcare only makes sense to people who don't understand independence.

  • People understand independece, they just don't understand having to pay an insane amout of money for simple medical procedures.

  • nah dont tell him a damn thing. he isnt taking this issue seriously, for him and his other clown freinds its just a ay to attack onama, and for them to use big word s that they dont know shit about.

10 years from now hen indurance companies tripple profits, and he can no longer pay, or him or his family gets sick and he has to give up everything to save them i hoppe he will still love private insurance.

its like watching a drunk man saw off his own damn leg

one day he'll sober up though

  • Nicely stated!

  • hmm, Medicare? Does that make sense to you? I understand independence, I just don't understand YOU.

  • it also doesnt make sense to idiots

  • Ok I hope you think the same way 10 yars from now when premiums TRIPPLE

its gone up 119% in the last 10 years, what makes you think they wont continue to rise.

I hope it was worth it. And I hope you never get sick and lose everything.

  • If this reform bill is killed, premiums will go up. They did last time. They will again. I feel sorry for my neighbors to the south.

    :(

  • They are going to go up anyway, on fact they are going to increase much more with this bill, because its forcing insurance companies to accept more risk. Its a huge win for them. And we are all going to get fuckef by it.

The public otion was necessary to keep costs down without it costs are just going to rise.

And Obama just lossed his re0election I hope everyone is happy with sarah palin as president

  • Palin would run in favor of reviving a public option? Haha, now that's funny.

  • yes. they will continue to increase since there is nothing to prevent insurers from hikiing up rates when they please.

  • the u.s. government is soo corrupt

  • yup

  • Once again, aside from going the typical route of blaming the government for corporate excess, as if that makes any sense, maybe you can finally answer the question as to how the people can organize together in the absence of a government to have collective bargaining power against corporations.

Your responses so far have been extremely weak, so answer the question or get the fuck out.

  • these open secrets must get into the school books, there are some

europeans also that have told like it is,

it`ll get mandatory to read them instead of classics like Goethe and Shakespeare.

  • Exactly! Who will fund their PACs and give them campaign money if the companies the run the PACs are unable to gouge the American people for money?

  • HC/Pharma is organized and aggresively working to stop HC Reform in America. Richard Armey's group Freedomworks dot o r g is the organizer of these protests as well as the Teabagger protests. He's a registered lobbyist for Medicines Co. Source: Opensecrets dot o r g - Medicines Co. Has Paid DLA Piper, Richard Armey's Firm, $5,860,000 Since 2005. BIG Money involved here- the avg HC/Pharma CEO gets 10-30 Million per yr! Call these Dem reps today that are stalling on HC Reform!

  • trouble is that the idiots(and lets face it, the USA has more then it's fair share of them) will do thier BEST to kill this bill and go back to letting people DIE in hospital waiting rooms and let them not get treatment to save their lives because they can't afford it!

    what a bunch of gits!

  • I wonder whether the victims of the failing health care system in the US also support the american ideology that every man and woman is responsible for what happens to him and has to find his/her own way out. I am afraid many do as too many are brainwashed.

  • Wendell Potter worker for the private healthcare industry for years, but he's seen to error of his ways. Now, Wendell Potter is one of the greatest threats to the private healthcare insurance industry. Google him.

  • If socialism is wrong then Americans should get rid of the police and fire emergency services and privatize them. Can't afford the private fire insurance? Well, then thats just your fault. Sorry about your house.

  • The Republicans like to play dumb, but they're twice as conniving as the Democrats.

  • Cant belive i had so many responses to my last comment. healthy debate is always a winner. unfortunatley there are some people who like to lie to make their point sound better. no here in the UK we dont pay 50% tax at all for health infact as one man said it is a fraction of what you pay for your health insurance because your premiums keep going up

  • United Health is like Microsoft, and United Health's coverage is like Microsoft Windows. Both cause a lot of damage. Windows with billions wasted on the futile race to mitigate malware, an array of easily created botnets; UH with the customer policy of covering serious cases only through lawsuits, huge rates. Both spew inferior products/services and are using their huge capital to protect their status. Efficiency, good services and good products be damned, right along with the customers.

  • So is Single Payer Mac or Linux?

  • Definitely Linux, Mac is Microsoft Jr.

  • I'd disagree with your comparison to Microsoft.

Only cause if you don't use Microsoft, you're going to have to turn to sun systems, or another OS, or educate every secretary, temp, or what have you, in Unix.

Once another system becomes a majority (they WILL have to be a majority. The business world can't send off 3 different versions of a document to accommodate for 3 different OSs), that company will find itself in Microsoft's place "with billions wasted on the futile race to mitigate malware

  • (Contd)

Now that this company is being bogged down with having to deal with the majority of malware being written targeting it, it's competition will start to put out "superior" products, cause they don't have to defend themselves from the brunt of the majority attack.

  • (final contd)

It is sadly the way the tech industry works. The majority market any OS will be sold to, would be the businesses. They will try to streamline by ALL universally owning 1 OS. This OS will then be attacked more cause it's more common. Meanwhile it's competitors will not have this problem and will focus funds on other things.

With the growing use of the highly restrictive MAC OS, there will inevitably be more Mac specific viruses and malware.

  • Demand the privatization of highway construction, the FDA, the FAA, medicaid and fire/police. If you don't do that while attacking healthcare reform, you look like a fool.

  • the big health and pharma lobbies wouldn't be against this plan if they didn't think the government might do a better job. Yet they say "oh, government will do a terrible job." Well if the public option is lame, insurance companies will keep all their customers and be fine.

Insurance is worried they won't be able to prey on people quite so much. Take your money, deny coverage and boot you out when you are sick.

Insurance SUCKS and if the government can improve things, I'm for that.

  • I can't believe you Americans are so trusting of corporations over your own government. Don't you guys ever watch 20/20 or 60 minutes? Your corporations are doing all kinds of evil things, yet you trust them. Amazing! I'll take the government any day of the week. At least if they do the wrong thing, they are accountable to the people. Corporations get away with everything evil that they do, even corruption. Who can even begin to understand how Americans think? I'm dumbfounded!

  • No, only about 40% of stupid cunts in the country want to be corporate serfs. Americans don't.

  • I'm an American and I'm insulted by you.

Do NOT lump us all into one group because there are many of us (as you can seen in this very video) who DO know that corps rape us day in and day out, but we are TRYING to change it. Yes, we have many, many morons, but DON'T lump is all into that group.

Regardless, I also have to say this: Nice login name.

  • Thank you.

  • I want to know the name of the democrate senate who are against public option. They are getting millions of money from insurance companies.

I need to know who they are.

  • "A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." Edward R. Murrow

  • "A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." Edward R. Murrow

  • you're a pussy

  • oh, you're a clever one. please, continue your arm-chair moralizing. we love it here.

  • wth...i don't remember typing that hahahaha. i think someone at work typed that under my account. or i was stoned.....great quote though...lol arm-chair moralizing! that's awesome that's what a lot of people on youtube do, talk but no action bitch bitch bitch but they do nothing more.

  • dude i hear you loud and clear BUT plz look into this.

YOur governemnt borrows its money from the FED which it then puts into banks to allow for loans.

Bascially if we go to how this started

im the FED U r Gvrnment

    U: I need $100

FED here you go, but i need 10% interest

    U: But i only have $100 how can I give you $110 if i started with $100

its progessed since then the source to your countries problem is the Federal Reserve, BTW its a private buisness

  • i know about the federal reserve... i know about ron pauls bill that is trying to audit the FED

  • Health is a PERSONAL thing. So its soo stupid for someone to side with the insurance companies who view a persons health as a BUSINESS.

  • people also say us citizen come to canada for the exact samething.

Dude if you have something life threatning thn you jump ahead of the line, but if you brake something well sit down and wait your turn

BUT if you have a cold or something small it takes an hour to see a doc and get a perscription thats not a lie

  • Well what I have seen is that if you have a cold you don't get seen at all and it takes 2-3 years to get a primary care doctor. Doctors are in short supply because they can't make money and if you want to be seen go private.

  • Only an hour? HA. Here (in the US), if you don't have a doctor you have to go to a clinic or worse yet, an ER. The clinic waits are up to 2 hours (they will actually send you home sometimes and call you a day later to come into the doctor). At the ER, the wait can be up to 4 hours or longer. My brother had a kidney stone and we waited an hour in the ER waiting area before we were let into a room.

  • the definition of insanity, doing the same things over and over again expecting different results

  • Prime example of corporations influencing our lives: Their interference and stated resistance to any sort of public option.

  • Edit: By the insurance companies

  • Is he saying "shield"?

  • Fuck Niggers!!!!!!!

  • i meant to say: would tou gladly make somebody starve and die in order for you to get the latest gadget for your iphone? That seems to be your general idea on life.

  • No, I would not allow someone to starve but, the help of these people should not be force but should be encourage and payed thru private funds. When the government forces you to pay for other people then they are stealing from the public. Americans own their own labor. When the Government forces taxes to pay for others then you lose that right to your labor.

  • Ya, because the private industry is going to help these people. And don't give me that "the government is stealing your money" crap. 30 cents of every dollar you spend goes to the administrators of these health insurance corporations. They are vile, souless, evil people who profit off of human misery and suffering. And I am glad that the American people for the most part, finally realize this, and want actual competition in the form of a public option.

  • Im not saying i like paying 40 % taxes, but i would hate to see people lying in the street without anybody caring for them. And about "the amarican dream" which is the driving force behind it all: we can achieve that too. You're not going to get a tax deduction if you start making money but you can still get insaly rich if you want to. Its not like Cuba or china...

  • Cenk is absolutely right when he compares it to the police force and the fire department. Some thing are better left "un-privatized".

  • I'm from northern europe. We have "universal health care" or whatever you wanna call it. It works just fine. Its not an issue at all. It would be an issue, idf it was privatized and people were trying to cash in on my sickess. I would absolutely hate that....

  • It is quite simple. The US should simply take the legislation from any other country with universal healthcare, copy and paste. Instead, they are trying to reinvent the wheel while letting the insurers help write the thing.

  • lol at the dude who said gold standard lol fucking idiot.

  • I feel sorry for the smart people in america. You are being run over by the insanely rich and the insanely dumb. And you're too weak to react to it.Tsk tsk tsk. Power in numbers people, power in numbers.

  • Religious mind frames destroy Americans thinking processes.

  • The trouble is, it is far more difficult to create a smart person than it is to create a dumb one.

  • Public option makes me think of public schools in this country. They are all great! Right?

  • They are all underfunded! They can't get good teachers! That system needs reform TOO!

  • This guy in a suit likes to talk way too much. He wants to be russell peters, but instead using politics to attract viewers. Be more original! There are better people in your category.

  • Would you rather him dance?

  • @ERoBB1: If he danced this would be a better channel . Maybe you should make one :-)

  • It all comes down to selfish people who would rather let millions of men, women and children and liccle-wiccle babies die of treatable conditions rather than see their own taxes rise.

  • No it comes down to an ideal that government stays out of our lives and does not interfere with it. Your slippery slope comment takes us right into socialism.

  • Capitalism and socialism are equally severe in an authoritarian environment that does not respect basic human freedoms. Your kind are all about a right to life of the fetus, what about a person's right to life through access to good healthcare.

Your kind are as ethically and intellectually bankrupt as monarchists were in the 19th century.

  • We do not have a right to health care since it requires the Government to steal resources from one citizen and give it to another. Americans own our labor the Government does not.

  • Ah, and the truth comes out. Taxes are stealing, right? Typical libertarian scum.

You have a duty as a citizen of a nation to contribute X amount of resources to that nation to provide the resources to provide the rights bestowed upon EVERY citizen and the infrastructure to keep your civilization going. It is not stealing because those resources are flowing right back towards you. Consider it distributed risk.

On another note, your kind disgust me as much as the Stalinists.

  • I'm glad that the Founders of your country and the ideal in which this country was founded upon disgust you. I have a duty as an AMERICAN to limit and distrust the government. I have a duty to keep them out of my life and to let liberty prevail. If I choose to give my money or my time thru private means then so be it. This will not happen thru force by the government stealing my labor and my resources to give to others. If I have a duty to help others I will do it willingly not by force.

  • Strawman, the favorite tactic of the libertarian fascists. The nature of government and the emergence of multi national corporations have changed the landscape quite a bit, to the point where religiously following a rather loose interpretation of a government founded in the late 18th century is not only a little silly, but foolish. Those men were the progressives of their age, Orion, and I doubt they would want to see their ideas followed like the monarchism of their time.

  • One would think that the progressives of that age would want to continue in progressive thought, whatever the age, which means adapting to the realities of the environment.

Or in other words: What worked hundreds of years ago will likely not work today, but this is not a betrayal of our founders, just continuing in their path. It is progressive thought that has a timeless quality, not conservatism.

  • I agree with you but expansion of Government is not the answer. Power ALWAYS corrupts this can always be relied upon and it must be limited. Therefore, the government must be limited. To expand Government is not a progressive movement but, a step backwards.

  • Take one step at a time, and one problem at a time. Look at other countries and thier benefits from government run health care. We have had it for decades. Nobody thinks about it. Nobody worries. If you're sick, you get treatment. It's always reliable, always pleasent...

  • How many more northern European countries with the population of a large city is going to come here and tell me that their model will work with a population 60 times their own? Our country has 300 million, yours has 5 million. It is more complicated to cover 300 million people with health care.

  • Always talking down to the europeans, huh. Loo, i dont care if a country has 5 million or 5 billion people. Its the same deal. We all pay our share of taxes and we all get a little yellow card, so we can get help if our spleen explodes or whatever. its free, and its not all that complicated. But i guess you just wanna make it look very complicated anyway...

  • Its not free. Its costs you an income tax anywhere from 42-68%. I don't want to work for the Government and I already feel like I do at 33%.

  • Yes we pay fairly high taxes. But our income is fairly high as well. We call it " Well-fare society" believe it or not. I know you don't like that word but i guess were just a bunch of socialists huh?

  • I dunno, an exponential and linear increase in total resource base that comes along with a larger population and larger country?

Follow this logic to its end in regards to the size of nations and their access to resources and how it relates to the control of resources historically and in the future and see where it takes you.

  • I have no idea what you are talking about. I do see the problem, however, in trying ti change the whole system right now. Especially since you've got powerful coorporations on one side and daft punks who can't grasp the idea of government run health care on the other side. A vicious circle.

  • Read the Federalist papers and see where that gets you.

  • And we go back to the fact you are referencing evidence from hundreds of years ago. The world today is very different from the world then, and the United States is most certainly different. Technological limitations have alleviated the burden of larger states, for one, and we now have much more sophisticated methods of government. Nice try, though.

  • Let me know when you find a government that is making this work without corruption. Thanks for your input.

  • Corruption exists in all human institutions, some just have more fault tolerance than others.

Still waiting for that answer on what will safeguard the population from corporate power in the absence of a strong government, btw.

  • I said that the free market will solve many of the problems. Corporations like Starbucks are going to rule my life? I would say that if a corporation that is providing goods and services to the public begins to get out of hand the consumer can always take his money somewhere else. It the government that regulates competition and prices that hurt the market and the ways the consumer can control the power of corporations. Also give me an example of how a corporation is controlling me?

  • Not corporations like starbucks (though corporations like United Fruit did influence the US gov to muck about in South America), but telecom, pharmaceutical, oil, and military firms? Yes, they already do have huge influence in how our government is run, and their influence would likely even be greater in an environment with an even weaker government. These are key industries, most of which are monopolies which the consumer CANNOT simply refuse to fund due to their importance and/or stranglehold.

  • Comment removed

  • Without a government to break up these natural and pre-existing monopolies, they would most assuredly have more influence than today, with about zero possible recourse.

  • coruption cannot be avoided. but then you create organisations to monitor. It's like a casino: everybody watches everybody.m thats how it has to be. and democracy will keep the politicians on their toes. But hats another story...about you're two-party system...also a bad idea...

  • Every developed country, except for your corporatist excuse for a nation.

  • Stop by my house and say hi when you come here for your heart transplant. Canada has not moral high ground to stand on. I have seen the way their system works and it doesn't.

  • really? i live here(having come to stay 2 years ago from the UK) and the system here DOES WORK!

if CANADA does not have the high moral ground, why does it rank HIGHER in the worlds health care standing then the USA does? i mean bloody hell fire your country is only JUST above CUBA!

  • ok try CANADA,GERMANY,UK,AUSTRILIA,NEW ZEALAND,FRANCE,HOLLAND,SPAIN, in fact most of the world !these countrirs ALL have a HEALTH SYSTEM that works and NO ONE gets refused TREATMENT because they cant pay... unlike the USA!

how many people in these countries go BANKRUPT because they can't pay their HEALTH CARE BILLS? NONE! now compair that the the USA!

  • what do you mean evidence from hundreds of years ago. I'm talking about most of the european countries and canada, by the way. Look, i like America, but somewhere down the line you guys became too stubborn. Believing that your country is the greatest country in the world is fine, just don't let it blur your eyes from alternative solutions to problems

  • Was talking to Orion regarding the federalist papers, his supporting document was something written in the early days of the United States, during a reality that is wholly different from our own.

  • Comment removed

  • Tax revenue is higher in the US, it should be easier. You just don't have a clue.

  • Disband Federal Reserve... Hows that for a clue.

  • Or instead of having a private Federal Reserve, get a clue and give it to the people (aka the government)...why do you let private companies profit from making your own money?...

Plus...do you really think it's appropriate to give the government power to shoot you, but not to fix you when your shot?... You really think the health of society is less essential than a fire service or police...or public works for christ sake. .... If you are against the government, you are against yourself.

  • You are arguing with the wrong person. I said disband the federal reserve.

  • Probably the most ignorant breakdown I've ever heard Orionx.

    1) The bill isn't supposed to cover 300 million people.

    2) European models are for absolute universal healthcare

    3) The term socializing healthcare is a lie in relation to this bill so that premiss is defunct from the get go and really misleading.

    4) The United States is the richest nation in the world. This bill isn't even going to cost that much when you compare the price tag to other endeavours like Iraq ect..

  • 1) it covers 4 million. We don't have the doctors to cover 46 million so it will lead to increases in pricing or rationing of care.

    2) and where my ideals of expansion of government leads to expansion of government.

    3) If I have to pay taxes to support other people its socialized. It will create 328 billion in debt and cost more than a trillion dollars to fund. Its an unsound bill.

    4) It will frankly cost more. PERIOD.

  • you make me sad. Is it really your belief that you would rather make somebody starve and die than paying a few more dollars a month so you can get the latest gadget to your iphone? I hope everybody will cnahge their worldview soon. It sucks.

  • Welcome to America, the other Russia.

  • (1) These people just use the emergency room, or they just don't pay. No hospital will refuse cafe to someone who really needs it, or at least they do what they can. The bottom line is we are already paying for these people but instead of specific funds from the central government, the state pays for it.

I get what your saying to an extent but you have to realize that refusing care doesn't change the fact that someone will pay for it somehow, be it through the state or through a public source.

  • But the emergency room is the least efficient, and most expensive way to recieve care. Not to mention the fact that there is no preventive care in ERs. A public option would make it possible for these people to recieve preventive care, and save money in the long run by stopping a lot of the diseases before they get to bad.

  • Ah sorry I did word that a bit oddly, what I meant by that was that we should have a public option due to how we are paying for them anyways, so what I'm trying to say is that the government not the state should handle this. Ugh this is hard to write out but I'm all for the public option.

  • you already pay taxes to send children to school! They are people, just a younger person. Oh, and the taxes you pay to put out fires around the city. And what about the taxes you pay for law enforcement in your area. you pay taxes to support people all the time! I don't like hire taxes either but lets talk about the issues and not just the things you don't like. It starts to sound like crying!

  • And I don't want to pay more. The end.

  • Because you're a greedy selfish cretin. A failure in the eyes of humanity because of your lack of sympathy and kindness.

  • "you're a greedy selfish cretin"

Whether you like it or not, everything is money driven. Just because some of us recognize that fact, doesn't make us greedy. We understand the need for incentives. If you punish the inventor/innovator/entrepreneur for succeeding, what will that leave the rest of us with? Look at all the things that have been developed out of the "greed" that you speak of: the light bulb, automobile, telephone, etc., etc.-all because someone wanted to be rich!

  • Oh, and I almost forgot to mention-advances in MEDICINE!

  • Love Ad Hominem attacks. I volunteer my time and I have devoted my life to medicine. I am in medical school and Monday night I am volunteering my time to help the undeserved population treating children. I simply want the government out of my life and out of my pocket. If I choose to give to charity or volunteer, it should be on my terms not the governments.

  • I would argue that increasing governmental powers is not progressive in nature but, a step backwards. I don know how to combat the corporations and I have much more to learn. I would venture to suggest it has something to do with the free market and a lack of regulations. Again I still have much to learn and don't have all the answers.

  • But decreasing regulation was what led to the corporate influence in our government, as well as severely underfunding the tools necessary for a republic to work (public education, streamlined voting, over emphasis on external campaign funding) as well as the gilded age that led to government regulation in the first place.

The point is that you have two competing powers, both of which will ruin the population if they gain domination over the society.

  • How is it in any way, shape, or form logical that you can curb corporate excess through... their own machinations?

The problem is that the libertarians have never come up with an answer to the problem of corporate rapaciousness and excess, and they have likely never come up with one because it

    1. Cannot fit into their ideology, not unlike human greed in Communism.

    2. Many modern libertarians actually welcome corporate control of society anyway

  • You have entered into crazy land and I have lost you. I do not see where the strawman is and I don't appreciate your Ad hominem attacks to prop up your arguments. Increasing Governmental powers who are largely controlled by corporations and money men will not solve your problems. It will only add to everything you are complaining about. PERIOD.

  • Your strawman was that I somehow hold disgust for our founding fathers due to holding disgust for modern libertarians.

But anyway, you are still not addressing how limiting government will save us from corporate influence, and you refuse to answer this question. So I ask you again: With the absence of strong government who protects the population from corporate excess. Answer the question.

  • You are arguing with a libertarian??? Good luck, they boarderline fundamentalist christians with their dogmatic belief that capitalism is a perfectly fair system and people who are poor deserve to be poor....

Really, they dont like the idea of lazy good for nothing people taking their hard earned money....Greed really.

  • "you are still not addressing how limiting government will save us from corporate influence, and you refuse to answer this question"

    I will answer the question!

"who protects the population from corporate excess"

    C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N!!!

  • I answered this about five times.

  • Competition doesn't exist when all the corporations fuse into 1 giant corporation.

"How many libertarians does it take to screw in a lightbulb.

None, the freemarket will do it."

The free market can't do shit. It can only put emphasis on conspicuous consumption.
