Thant´s exactly what I think, Keith. There´s no difference in the recording to be heard. When playing live, I hear the difference, but the nylon guitar strings didn´t fit my taste. I like the nylgut strings which I use now (with a renaissance head) much more. See my blog for more details.
Great Wolfgang - I was thinking of putting nylon strings on my Goodtime so this is just what I was looking for. If I shut my eyes I can't tell the difference so I'll stick with the steel strings. I've found that slackening the banjo head off gives me the more plunky sound anyway.
