Actually, the more I watch this the better it gets. Respectful to Van Vliet I think, and the "variety in the images" works well with the rhythm and thematic cadence. Really good work.
Good stuff. A bit more variety in the images would have been good, perhaps, but I liked the use of the "train with grey tubes that houses people's thoughts" as a main theme.
My own vision for this song was a bizarre sort of Max-Fleischer-meets-Sally-Cruikshank (Quasi at the Quackadero) thing, with Popeye the Sailor as Beefheart and the band composed of Alice the Goon-like characters.
I have never seen such a minimalist, yet evocative style. Definitely some inspiration from Beefheart's artwork itself, although the animation style is totally unique.
I always thought this song in particular was one of Beefheart's most evocative. I would love a video to be made for Old Fart At Play, Totem Pole or Pena, although the last one would probably be too graphic for youtube.
this is awesome shame you didnt use a better sounding version of the track tho

I love the graphic movie! It fits this very contemporary sounding score.

Most fan music videos just phone it in but this one shows rare creativity, I think it fits the imagery of the song very well!

A William Carlos Williams take on the text. Kinda cool.

@DieSchwartzmann — Pena? Definitely a tad graphic if done literally, especially the sitting-on-waffle-iron bit.

Thank you for sharing this. I can see how you pull inspiration from Vliet's art work. Very good visual evocation of the song. Rock and Roll!
