  • I remember watching this on tv during my Erasmus stay in Ireland. No Disco was great to pick jewels like the Frames and magnify them.

    You irish people rock !

  • Dude, this chick needs an instrument or something, because her creepy as dancing just isn't doing it for me

  • This song has seen morer "repeat" palys on my iPOD than any other . . thank you Glen

  • Who's the woman singing along with Glen?

  • remember seeing them in a packed sweaty hotel function room on the Heineken Roller Coaster Tour in Sligo. I was 16 and it was a school night and everyone was loaded, including host Dave Fanning. Had to climb in an open window and fall in on the crowd to gain entrance. Bouncer almost caught us. Didnt have a ticket or the fiver to get one. They had just released Revelate so it must have been 1995. Great night, great performance. Fan ever since.

  • this ia an extraordinary vid m8 !!really thanks:DDDDDD

  • Damien Rice has used the samd guitar aswell for big gigs.

  • I had this recorded too, the joys of vhs.......

  • nothing but class.

  • he still plays the same guitarre!!

  • Found this song on my IPOD the other day and fell in love I know the violinist is Jan ruby.

    AMAZING SONG!

  • @theregular96 You probably have the live version from the 'Breadcrumb Trail' album

  • 15 yrs of (relative)' obscurity ..and now playin similar and same songs with a cute girl..and then world wide fame for glen....suppose thats what it takes...did he take a page out of Damien Rice / Lisa hannigan..great idea Damien...and Glen

  • Went to see The Swell Season in Paradiso, Amsterdam.

    Amazing concert!

I think Glen still has that same guitar he's using here, how cool is that? It's a bit more worn but it still sounds great!

  • More than 15 Years ago!!! Jesus, they've always been such a great band!!! I LOVE THEM !!!

  • This is such a jewel, I've been looking for older vids of The Frames and just found this one, love them!!

  • @aniuxmm Also have a look for "Angel At My Table" recorded for the same 'No Disco' session.

  • great tune, pity hansard is such a muppet.

  • Would love to know what that makes you.

  • fucking unreal!

  • I remember watching this on irish tv during my stay in Ireland. This brings lots of nice souvenirs: Cork/Murphy/RTC...

a great country with great musicians.

  • Glenn is extra ginger looking here...lol!

Great song though....serious goosebumps for me here also!!

Come ack to me my college days!!!!

    *crying here

  • Goosebumps; this song is incredible. Does anyone know if this is the recording on the Set List album?

  • Set List was recorded in 2002. The video above is from around 1995,

  • Ah, cheers, makes sense, just I can never find that version on youtube. This seemed the closest. Such a class song.

  • class

  • This is great! I have'nt realised that this song was that old.. Young Glen is great too! Very confident, well done :)

  • I remember watching this when it was broadcast. Wow!

  • Computer says no

  • does that girl have some sort of mental disability?

  • hell, how can u not be like that to this tune...i'm dancing my pants off right now...it really can't get any better than this

  • your a dick head

  • if you like this i've uploaded the ORIGINAL ALBUM TRACK!! : )

  • shes looney. great song

  • The version they're doing now on tour with Marketa pounding the piano is pretty awesome!

  • Welcome to the club Lowry, I'm busy burning up my companies bandwith as we speak:)

  • I've been a fan of these guys for a long time...it's so good to see them getting the acclaim that they so deserve.

  • I'm still amazed that I never heard of them before the movie "Once", now I'm trying to find everything on them, lol. What a stupendous group of musicians! Just Love them!

  • The same goes to me.

What a shame to be an American with talent like this out in the world.

  • rad, just before i was born

  • i had no clue these guys were around back then!!!!!! i thank jesus for them

  • they had been together for five years when this video was recorded ;)

  • Hopefully she's not doing that thing with her hands anymore. My guess is glenn dropped her after seeing this video. Otherwise it's awesome really.

  • Did you know Hawkwind had a dancing lady groupie or fan of the band that was Irish!! Seriously!!

People dancing show music has feeling, has rythym and its a tribal act!! I think it adds to it!!!

  • Is she the Goth girl he talks about? Where is she now and what's she doin', anyone know?

  • That is from the song lay me down. I don't really know exactly if he is in contact with her, though.

  • her names Noreen O Donnell and I'm entirely sure what shes doing now musically but her and glen are still really good mates. shes an amazing singer

  • this is just so, magnificent. pure, stunning, passionate, music.

  • This song is perfect

    This video is perfect

One thing though....was this performance filmed live, with no breaks, or is this video a compilation of performances in the same space?

  • It was a live performance, with no audience, recorded for Irish TV programme 'No Disco' so it was done in one take. They also recorded 'Angel At My Table' as part of the same performance.

  • ingenious music

  • Crazy guitar !!!! Loving the music, frigin' amazement

  • I completely agree on the Damien Rice thing, I know they've played together as well.

  • this is like damien rice seven years before damien rice showed up as damien rice... down to the instruments

  • That's why Damien Rice is so boring.. Seven years too late and doesn't touch on anything nearly as good as Fitzcarraldo/Dance the Devil..

  • haha thats the guitar from the movie

  • Same guitar from the movie... JUST beginning to scratch, sweet!

  • it´s really perfect,but this lady is...xD

  • feel heart ...

  • really beautiful

  • Awesome band, awesome song, but that damn girl flailing around everywhere is pretty annoying.

  • i love him! it is my lovely song

  • shes looney. great song

  • Guitars, drums and a violin. Probably the most original combination I have ever seen. And they know how to turn some instruments in good music.

They were here, in Holland, and I couldn't go. Luckily (think hard) by then I didn't know how good they are

  • I had exactly the same thing! At the time that I knew they were here, I didn´t really care. But now I regret it so much that I didn´t go!! But I hope/think that they will come back and than I'll definitely go!

  • Love this so, so much. Fitzcarraldo is 100 times better live than in the studio version. The 'Set List' version blows me away.

  • His guitar ain't in shambles...

  • The girl in the video looks stoned on weed.

    The Frames Fitzcarraldo good song.

  • The girl in the video looks stoned anyone agree.

The Frames the most underrated band in Ireland.

  • such sweet music

  • yes, they should have kept him as the bassist really

  • its wierd seeing such a young glen hansard. he must've been 25ish here, right?

  • Isnt the bass player the bank officer in the film?

  • no, the bank manager in the film is a guy called Sean Millar.

  • they should get that bassist back

  • He's fantastic isn't he?! His name is Graham Downey (son of Thin Lizzy drummer Brian).

  • I saw The Commitments when it came out but I'm afraid Glen Hansard never really registered on my radar until Once came out. All of a sudden my respect for the guy and what he's been doing all this time is growing in leaps and bounds. :)

  • Love this band- the best Irish band I've heard :D Love 'em! And this is a wonderful performance of a great song.

  • One of the greatest bands EVER

  • Wow is all I can say. I just discovered this band last night when I went to see the movie "Once". Simply amazing, and I wish I had known about them alot sooner.

Thanks for posting the lyrics on your website too.

  • amazing stuff - its strange to see glen using a guitar he has'nt wore a hole into!!!!

  • I am very greatfull to irish music central for doing what you are doing with Irish Music seen. Thank you, Justin

  • I guess they`re a huge inspiration - if not the only one - for Damien Rice.

    Nice band

    !!!

  • The frames, probably the best band to come out of ireland in many years. led by a great songwriter with grace, humility and talent, accompanied by talent musicians who knoe their trade well. A band that has been around for a while, with good reason, and will hopefully be around for many more years. One of the few bands that are able to produce songs that have meaning and speak to the the soul. what great music is all about.............the frames

    a derry man

  • great band

  • On secondlook yer girl IS fairly tiresome to behold. They should have given her some bongos or a tambourines or something.

  • Your one is sort of annoying with her one-armed dancing . . . Totally different Frames from today.

  • Sometimes she uses two arms. Maybe yer just easily annoyed? Or perhaps just a misogynyst?

  • Hi there... I'm one of the 50 person who's saw Frames in Italy! :) Fantastic gig thanks!! Marcello ;)

  • Does anyone know where this show took place? It looks like a show I saw at Sine' in the East Village circa 89.

  • It was a performance specifically recorded for an Irish alternative music video programme called "No Disco". It was recorded sometime in late 1994/early 1995. If anyone knows where it was recorded, I'd love to know..

  • I'm only guessing but it was likely recorded in cork

  • It looks like the Kings Head in Galway to me...

  • Somebody post "before you go" from the old tv show The Waterfront please(or maybe it was called on the waterfront, not sure)

  • Glen looks so young in this

  • Gret song, great song...No disco was such a grat show too.

  • the violin is amazing

  • i just love this song. its amazing.

  • How small does hansard look with his guitar. Doesnt stop him being a legend.

  • great clip, but its really not an acoustic track

  • This tv clip of The Frames brings back so many memories.Great stuff.
