remember seeing them in a packed sweaty hotel function room on the Heineken Roller Coaster Tour in Sligo. I was 16 and it was a school night and everyone was loaded, including host Dave Fanning. Had to climb in an open window and fall in on the crowd to gain entrance. Bouncer almost caught us. Didnt have a ticket or the fiver to get one. They had just released Revelate so it must have been 1995. Great night, great performance. Fan ever since.
15 yrs of (relative)' obscurity ..and now playin similar and same songs with a cute girl..and then world wide fame for glen....suppose thats what it takes...did he take a page out of Damien Rice / Lisa hannigan..great idea Damien...and Glen
I'm still amazed that I never heard of them before the movie "Once", now I'm trying to find everything on them, lol. What a stupendous group of musicians! Just Love them!
It was a live performance, with no audience, recorded for Irish TV programme 'No Disco' so it was done in one take. They also recorded 'Angel At My Table' as part of the same performance.
I had exactly the same thing! At the time that I knew they were here, I didn´t really care. But now I regret it so much that I didn´t go!! But I hope/think that they will come back and than I'll definitely go!
I saw The Commitments when it came out but I'm afraid Glen Hansard never really registered on my radar until Once came out. All of a sudden my respect for the guy and what he's been doing all this time is growing in leaps and bounds. :)
Wow is all I can say. I just discovered this band last night when I went to see the movie "Once". Simply amazing, and I wish I had known about them alot sooner.
Thanks for posting the lyrics on your website too.
The frames, probably the best band to come out of ireland in many years. led by a great songwriter with grace, humility and talent, accompanied by talent musicians who knoe their trade well. A band that has been around for a while, with good reason, and will hopefully be around for many more years. One of the few bands that are able to produce songs that have meaning and speak to the the soul. what great music is all about.............the frames
It was a performance specifically recorded for an Irish alternative music video programme called "No Disco". It was recorded sometime in late 1994/early 1995. If anyone knows where it was recorded, I'd love to know..
I remember watching this on tv during my Erasmus stay in Ireland. No Disco was great to pick jewels like the Frames and magnify them.
You irish people rock !

Amazing concert!
I think Glen still has that same guitar he's using here, how cool is that? It's a bit more worn but it still sounds great!

Set List was recorded in 2002. The video above is from around 1995,

Did you know Hawkwind had a dancing lady groupie or fan of the band that was Irish!! Seriously!!
People dancing show music has feeling, has rythym and its a tribal act!! I think it adds to it!!!

That's why Damien Rice is so boring.. Seven years too late and doesn't touch on anything nearly as good as Fitzcarraldo/Dance the Devil..

Guitars, drums and a violin. Probably the most original combination I have ever seen. And they know how to turn some instruments in good music.
They were here, in Holland, and I couldn't go. Luckily (think hard) by then I didn't know how good they are
