Ok m8, i just ordered one of these, as you know, this is not a uke, but, you tuned it like one, this is in fact a Epiphone Mandobird IV and is a 4 string electric single pickup mando.
That's right, it's not sold as a Uku but it is now. It is my Epiphone 'Cukubird'.
It's more work than just changing the tuning: All strings gauges were changed and you must fiddle with the intonation plenty! It's a fun little toy though ;)
I've seen a lot of these vids were the mando players come across as vicious, rude, Internet Tough Guys. How dare anyone mod one of their precious mandolins!
There's an excellent electric uke made by Risa. It has four strings. It is called an ukulele. And yet, mando players are welcome to it as well.
These jerks who get all pissy at someone using a different tuning. Get a life. REAL musicians (whatever they play) are busy making music. Quit being so insecure and let people make their own music.
he is not a hillbilly it is an electric mandolin, mots e-mandos only have 4 strings instead of eight. this is just a weird tuned mandolin, and please, even if he was wrong, don't have to be so rude. Thats a big problem with youtube, people being jerks.
Hi Ryan, at the end of the video, I explain what I did. It's the it's sold as a mandolin but you can change the set up and strings and tune it like a uku. I wouldn't tune it like a uku straight out of the box though :)
