  • Len Ganley the referee in the final who died recently was a great referee and character. He Refereed the world final in 1983 1987 1990 and 1993 all won by Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry. I remember when he appeared in a Carling Advert.

  • @GAC1984 Len Ganley has to me one of my favourite Snooker Referees.

  • Steve Davis is a legend. R.I.P. Len Ganley.

  • I bet Joe has arthritis of the eyebrows now.

  • revenge! lovely...

  • I swear when the cue ball hits the colours it sounds different to what it does now - it's a much bolder, harsher hit, maybe this is just the sound quality?

  • Tougher Tables in those days!!. Nice to see a bit of vintage Davis..Joe played 2 outstanding finals, great potter.

  • I think I am right in saying Davis got to the final and his highest break was 99, then he made the 127 in the first frame which was rather amazingly the highest break of the 1987 World Championships. Most amateur tournaments have breaks that high nowadays. Very solid play though and not always about the big breaks if you know the game.

  • Super final from the Davis era.

  • The referee is Len Ganley

  • Great video!

  • This was my fav Embassy colour

  • As the commentator says at the end it was the diamond jubiliee year of the WSC - 60 years! So I guess that's why they changed the colour this time

  • Perhaps they were promoting Embassy Regal cigarettes. But the color sucks!

  • how come the embassey were blue tht year
