Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani - his designs are oh so beautiful - but he is oh so haughty - it seems to be such a contraction - and one I will never understand - nonetheless, his abilities are unbelievable - as he continued the work of the Hollywood designers of the 1930s, who were irreplaceable - and Valentino is not replaceable - although he believes he is - there will be no deluge - and let's not forget the work of his seamstresses - who are equally responsible for the beauty created.

@elizabethfaraone I dont believe there is any contradiction in him. Most great artists are extremely temperamental and experience great frustration with others in the unending quest for perfection, Valentino is no exeption .I dont believe this is necessarily a negative attribute, though in the documentary he does come across as being somewhat supercilious he is also at turns very funny, charming and shows great warmth towards the women who helped him create his masterwoks over the years.

@snazzzzz I think that it is a myth that most great artists are temperamental. For example, many artists of the Victorian Era, such as John Singer Sargent, Louis Comfort Tiffany and Adelaide Alsop Robineau, were delightful and kind (I think). Being a good artist and being temperamental do not go hand in hand. But good artists who are arrogant need to work on losing their arrogance. It is always a repulsive trait.
