  • I'm just starting out with cakes and this is one of the simplest and effecdtive i've seen, thank you.

  • hola edna, supongo que hablas español, me parecio fantastico tu video, solo quiero saber si la cubierta del pastel es de fondant....... gracias

  • @milly8a88 Es buttercream

  • ... And where can buy them?

  • Hi Edna i am from Germany and i Love your Videos . Please Tell me what s the Name of the dowels. And i like to know : Must i pur the Last wooden dowel into all tiers? Love Mary

  • @kleinermorschi Yes you need the las dowel or the cake can fall

  • *dowels

  • Wouldn't u eat the does tho? O.o

  • @JazzyCool234 Dowels are meant to be for support, you take them out when cutting the cake.

  • @JazzyCool234 No, you take them out as you cut the cake

  • Hello Edna, fantastic tutorial as always

may I ask about the last wooden dowel, is it easy to insert it threw the cardboards under each tier? can I put the tier directly without a cardboard on the dowels? thanks again dear :)

  • @fatinah34 You need a cardboard between each tier. The dowel needs to be sharpened to break the cardboard.

  • Hey Edna !! Thank you so much for this great tutorial !! Its a very helpful tutorial for us beginners. I have a question. I noticed that the wooden dowel wasn't exactly centered.. IS that ok ? I really love how you stack your cakes i want to try this technique out . I was just curious on why it wasnt centered. Thank you soo much for all your videos.. you are truly my inspiration and i hope one day to become as good , Keep up the great work Thank you again !!

  • @ecuaricanchula It' not fully centered because you don't want to hit the dowels in the center of the cakes

  • Fantastic tutorial! You were also very clear in directions and I greatly appreciate that :). *subscribes*

  • Hi Edna What kind of Sharpener can sharpen those wooden dowels? Is it a Heavy Duty one?

  • @yvette131 I just use a pencil sharpener of good quality.

  • fantastic!! so careful and neat its unreal! hehe ;) well done and thankyou x

  • Wow! Your technique is awesome! It is easy to understand, and I think the easiest I've seen so far. Thanks!

  • @bookworm190 The cake is room temperature

  • I have done a couple wedding cakes, and with each one I learn a little more. I found that wooden chopsticks have come in handy when I had no dowels, but am really interested in trying the straws that you demonstrated with....and as usual, you experts make it look sooo effortless! I don't think it's hard, but as a perfectionist, I tend to make more work for myself. Thank you so much for your video...it was a pleasure to watch and your cakes are beautiful!

  • @tiaracutietiaracutie High ratio shortening..but is best to leave the cake out of the heat anyways

  • wonderful technique, is that icing or fondant? You are the only one who used gloves and kept it looking great. The cake was beautiful as the creator. thank for uploading.

  • @bossman5233 I usually do tutorials i my house and I don't use the gloves in my house. But this cake was for a client. Gloves are a must.

  • This was wonderful and so much easier to understand! Your way has been the best way thus far! Thankyou for posting this video!

  • @rednogo Thanks!

  • Hi, I would like to know if you are refrigerating (cooling in a fridge) the cake after icing it completely, and then stacking it..

  • @jasminejoseph86 no, I dont refrigerate after the second coat

  • @tonedna1 thank you for the reply.. I'm planning to use buttercream icing made of butter, sugar and egg whites. Then, will I be able to smooth the cake coating as you have shown with the viva paper? And another thing is that we dont get viva paper in our country and can I substitute it with parchment paper?

  • @jasminejoseph86 no, that is not a crusting buttercream

  • Satin Ice is great stuff!!! Wiltons was so gross in the past, but I sure hope they've done some work on it!

Great, clean work :))) God bless you!

  • You are so appreciated by so many people. I can't thank you enough for creating these tutorials and sharing your expertise. You must be extremely busy, but I notice that you take time to respond to so many questions. You are an inspiration, not only as a baker and a teacher, but as a human being as well.

  • Incredible! Beautiful beautiful cake :)

  • Thanks Edna...the video was very informative for me.

  • Edna, In the video we see you put one long dowel through the whole cake, but it looks off center. There is a space in the video, and then we see 2 holes in the top of the cake. Did you put two center dowels in this cake to help keep it more stable? Thanks!

  • @tokazowskido Yes, I was not driving this cake, and I felt safer to put 2 dowels if it is bein delivered by someone else.

  • @MizzzCrazyUnique Refrigeratecover well in saran wrap and foil paper will help. You can out it in a box for extra help.

  • @MizzzCrazyUnique You need to cover the cake well with plastic and even aluminum foil. If your refrigerator is full with spicy food the cake will pick up those flavors. Need to be covered real well or have a refrigerator just for this purpose.

How do I add pearls to the butter cream? Can I use only the Wilton wood instead the thick support than you use?

  • @iprruss the recipe is in my website under the recipe section

  • This helps a lot. My daughters wedding is end of November and she wants me to make the cake because she only likes Duncan Hines cake mixes and my homemade frosting. I was trying to figure out how to stack the cakes and this video is great.

  • Your wonderful. I wish I had seen this sooner.

  • hi. :) I saw your video and it really helped but I have a question, how would you stack a 3 layer square cake?

  • @RiaSamudio Same way, but make sure to have a dowel on each corner of the square.

  • these are wonderful! :) thx for sharing

  • Dang Brazilians!!! This was amazing and well made. THANK YOU!!!!

  • Thank you so much for your pointers...I have been decorating for 7 years now, but have slowed down in the last couple of years. I've never been confident at my stacking though, and I think now I know that I wasn't using enough dowels. I have a cake this Saturday, and i'm going to take this with me!

  • @allybaba28 Some people dont use enough of them, or use dowels that are too thin. Making the cake unstable. Good luck with it!

  • Are these two layer cakes each?

  • @tollock1 Yes!
