  • I loved June Angela (Julie) when I was a kid.

  • God, I remember this skit! I LOVE everyone's reactions in the library to the special effects! This totally had me busting a gut!

  • 1:49 JULIE we are SUPRISED at you. YOU KNOW you know better than to read out loud in a library.

Silence really is golden in bulidings like that isn't it?

  • Why do I laugh my ass off watching this??? Totally awesome! too bad kids tv sucks these days..they don't make them like they used to.

  • Remember June.... "Silence is golden."

  • If only library science was THIS interesting. Peace.

  • Danny Seagren is a puppeteer who played Spiderman. He's also the puppeteer on "Greg the Bunny."

  • This is like going through your old toys and remenicing on the good old days!

  • You ain't lyin'! :D

  • @nthomas32 Oh,how true! Sort of like a good friend you can rely on.

  • Re-discovering the EC has been a cathartic thing on many levels. Watching the sketches with SC members brings back memories of adolescent angst: I'm sure they loved the opportunity, but those young people were so monstrously talented & professional in their own right, one almost gets indignant for them that they were always forced to play kid roles.

  • You know the ironic thing is that while I'm watching this clip on a computer IN THE LIBRARY, I SWEAR I got the exact same reaction from the patrons, even though I'm wearing a headset! LOL

  • I remember a bit where Crank can't pronounce the word punctuation(bip) Does anyone remember it(squEEEeeek) It's hilarious(BOING)

  • Hahaha! I remember a funny pianist doing a bit on this. I CAN'T remember his name. He read a book about a knight fighting adragon. He made sounds for the punctuation.

  • That was the Danish-American humorist/pianist, Victor Borge, doing his "phonetic punctuation".

  • The comments on Electric Company skits here have the best spelling and grammar on the entire Internet. COINCIDENCE?!

  • I think not!!!!

  • What can I say.. I'm all Dewey-eyed.

  • You know, you've got a point there.

  • Thank you! I value your opinion.

  • It seems to me the other people in the library were only annoyed at the sounds of the punctuation marks and not by Julie's talking out loud.

  • the last 5 seconds of this is the scene used in the show's intro for hattie Winston

  • Whenever a comic strip character thinks or says just an exclamation point or question mark, I always imagine it makes those sounds.

  • I wonder what's in the period and question mark books.

I think Valerie should get that noisy exclaimation point book out of the library. Some unsuspecting library patrons will get in big trouble over that one, and Valerie won't know what hit her.

  • I liked how the readers became startled by those punctuation sound effects. No matter how quiet Julie talks, her punctuations still make a lot of noise.

  • I have had that experience. LOL!

  • I agree, the expressions on their faces are pretty hilarious. Reminds me of an office of cubicles and heads peeking over prairie dog style at any noise

  • OMG, this is one of THE skits I've been waiting years to see again! I just LOVE Valerie the Librarian and this skit! THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing these classics!

  • You're welcome. :)

  • 2 things: This seems to be a first: an African American Librarian. That was a high achievement for this time!

#2. I VAGUELY remember the name Danny Seagren. Can someone look him up, & remind me who(m?) he portrayed?

  • I could be mistaken, but I believe other skits that were used for the opening sequence are/were among the many clips here. Now, if only all seven of them were...

  • You are correct, sir!

  • Really! Well, I've seen the segment with Easy Reader running in the park before reading the street sign telling him to go slow, and I've also seen where Crank gets an unexpected fanfare just for saying his name, confetti and all. What about the others? Take your time. I'm in no rush.

  • There's also the segment with Pandora with the word "is" all messed up which was part of the was/is skit, too! That skit's posted here, too!

  • since wer're on the subject of punctuation, could u upload the faster-paced punctuation song with "THE TV IS ON FIRE!" on it? pleeease??

  • I second that! And hopefully, "TILT!"

  • Man, if I had Tilt, I would post it! That's one of my favorite Short Circus/Joe Raposo songs and I DON'T HAVE IT! :(

Try Nantoreturns. He might have it.

  • See below - and unfortunately I don't have "The TV is on fire" either! :(

You guys are naming a LOT of good ones.

  • It's hard, isn't it? You do something wonderful for a whole generation of people, & all they have to say is: "Can you get THIS?!?" "Can you get THAT?!?" ... anyway, excellent find, true fan of Joe Raposo, you -

Okay, now can you find a GOOD copy of the Short Circus' "Sing Out"?!? EVERYBODY'S looking for it!!!!

  • I wish I had it. That's one of Joe's finest songs: a complete masterpiece.

  • YES!! thank you, rapospfan.

  • I aim to please! :D

  • Who would ever seen books with a period or question mark or exclamation point on the cover, Should I? I'll skip it!
