i dont have any problems downloading this edition but i experience major problems when trying to install it. even though i've checked many times that my game is registered and i have my username and password right it still doesn't accept them. and when i close the window i cant find the install wizard and have to download it again, which chews through my bandwidth. anyone else had similiar problems?
What happened to the other witchers while Geralt is in Temeria? I like to see other witchers in action especially Eskel & Lambert or perhaps Vesemir. But most of all I like Eskel. hehe
Well, given they kept on saying 'we added this for immersive' and we did that for immersive',I felt sure they had added a 'walk' option for the Over The Shoulder camera view, as it was so unimmersive to run around in Inns and when searching for something and when in tight spaces, and yet, of course, they didn't! Hence this game is NOT immersive and running into walls and doors as Geralt runs too fast just makes it stupid too many times!
the witcher is type of game that is far more better than any other games, and one game that don't need recreation but it's your call and i respect it. I am looking forward to enhanced witcher and all the forthcoming sequels. cheers
A 1.2GB Patch, right? Who cares if they re-release the game, they deserve as much money as they can get from this game, because it's amazing and CD Project is amazing.
They released a product that wasn't all it was cracked up to be (It was an ace game, but the load times and dodgy translations almost put me off), loads of people bought it, and then they try and squeeze people a bit more by re-releasing it with all the most annoying things fixed and force you to buy alot of crap with it.
And yes, a 1.2gb patch is acceptable, I've downloaded patches close to that size before.
I think this is a cynical ploy dressed up as perfectionism.
Ah. My apologies to you and CD Projekt. It seems there IS a patch available to upgrade from the original to the enhanced edition, weighing in at over 900mb.

I just started playing the original and god damn are the load times and save times unbearable. I mean the fact that it auto saves every single time one of my quest is updated or a new quest is added is horrible. Especially since I cant find a option to turn auto save off. The load times in general from room to room are already bad but when you add a auto save on top of the load time when changing a room its real annoying. I love the actual game so far, but almost not worth it with the loading.
You know, there IS an option of turning autosaving off. It shouldn't be that hard to find if I did it. Just take one more look. And, as far as I know, the loading times are supposed to be fixed in the Enhanced Edition.
I hope they release this enhanced version for free for those who already paid for the original. I already beat the game and would like to play an expansion with new quests and content. But I appreciate the effort into perfecting this game even after its initial release. Way to go CDProjekt.
Wow, I just played the demo of Witcher for the first time, now I am not an RPG person at all but I ended up playing the demo for 3 hours straight which is amazing for me, LOVED IT.
I was very sad to hear the enhanced version will be delayed till September as thats the only full version I want to play, seems like so long to wait =(
I'm kinda pissed with two things - I wanted the game to be perfect (ok, after three patches) when I bought it (yeah, downloading is fine until CDProjekt is there - nothing is forever).
Second - system reqs sucks hard. Gotta play on lowest settings with 800x600 or it's a slide show. I think they could've optimised it better.

Along with the Jinni Toolset for modding the Witcher....will CD Projekt RED support the community with plugins allowing custom creatures (models, new animations, etc)?
The Witcher is an awesome game. I haven't got too far into it yet. I'm not sure what to do - continue playing the game or wait for the enhanced edition. The game is great as is but I'm holding out to hear how much better the writing/voice acting/translation is.
Well...I started over after having to reformat my hard drives...I was only on Act II...I am sure after the free download is available for registered users I will play it again...and the original version brought them this far, so I don't think the improvements will make it so you would have regretted playing through it now.
Don't knock this - this is a great trend for PC gaming! Think about it - new buyers get more, rather than it just going to budget, which for PC gaming does not give a good look, and for those that have the game AND REGISTERED AN ORIGINAL COPY, you get something close to an expansion for free!
Registered users getting the improved game play and quests for free, the studio's decision to polish up the retail version for people new to the game, and continue to profit, makes good sense. Now, will the studio use the profits to put out another great game? That's the rub.
Well, the game has sold 600,000 in 3 months, so their target of 1 million sales in the first year now seems reasonable, this is allowing for this upgrade and extras and I am sure this means they have financing for the next game which they are probably quietly working on right now!

Excellent game as i said in my earlier post, although the end is not quite satisfying because lot of unanswered questions remain after the end, and we don't know if they will ever be answered (unlike in the Bioware games witch are also excellent). Also 90% of the Wither fans have already finished the game, and i don't really believe they will play again enhanced edition's main story.

Try Bioware's RPG games like Knights of the Old Republic 1 (and 2 was very good although Obsidian made this game) and Jade Empire. The graphics aren't as good as Wither's of course, but the loading is lightning fast. I liked Witcher a lot, but i am not Polish so i am not a fanatic fan. But for the Polish this game represents something of their national pride that's why they hate your guts!
I liked Jade Empire, obviously not as good graphics as Witcher, but the fighting styles were really fun...Especially drunken master. I also liked the whole medieval china theme. I'm not saying witcher sucked, it just had frustrating bugs which took away from a game they'd obviously put a lot of time and effort into. I blame the production company not the developers.

Troll? Why because I don't like Witcher? I found it boring, rushed and buggy. The boss fights are unbelievable. You're in the middle of fighting one of the main bad guys then all of a sudden yet another shoddy cut scene starts. What was that all about? I finished the game by fighting the grand master, and a few seconds into the fight it just ends, and the Wild hunt guy appears. WTF?
Bethesda can learn something from this, remember their fucking horse armor plugins. The Witcher was great, fantastic story, non-lineair game world, choices and consequences, detailed journal. I fucking loved this game.

Things that suck about this game- They recycle the same actors over and over again. For example, the druid, the hermit, the champ boxer all look identical. The game is BUGGY! You'll be in the middle of a fight against some mobs, then a cut scene will start, and for the whole scene the mobs you were fighting will just be standing next to you, waiting for you to finish your convo. The load/save screens are way too long, as are the area loading screens. Also in main menu when you click Save.

My GF and I are almost to the end of the game, and it's getting PAINFUL. The story is so frustratingly complicated that it leaves you confused and bored. Too many characters and side stories make for an incredibly fragmented game. I wouldn't recommend Witcher. The game was rushed for an xmas release and it shows. Poor coding, poor story. The game could have been great if they'd finished it.

I had witcher maxed graphics no lag, so I don't know wtf you're on about. And yes I had cod4 and crysis both maxed out, with only a tiny lag on crysis. Both cod4 and crysis, with infinitely better graphics than witcher loaded in about a 10th of the time. A lot of people have had this problem, it's nothing to do with their comps. Since your comp can't max crysis I'd say you need a new one. You also need to chill out and not be so defensive.

That's a load of bullshit. Have you even patched the game? It runs at constant 60+ fps for me, CONSTANT, while Crysis doesnt go near 60 fps on high settings. I don't care if you dislike the game, but don't be a bitch ass liar about it.

Yes I patched the game. The FPS are not bad, but they're not great either. They certainly should be better since the graphics in the Witcher are nothing compared to COD4, which was giving me the 60+ range.

It's well known that the game clipped a bit, and gave you packet loss. This is part of the reason for the improvements I am sure...I am glad they want to make their first game the best it can be, and that should also convince investors or whomever that their second release will be closer to 100% operable than the first. The problem you're having is getting your head around the idea that the game is buggy. It's not a spec issue. My computer also has a problem where after and hour of playing the witcher, the sound starts screwing up and I have to restart. Other people have had this same problem. Nothing to do with the comp. Google the prob if u don't believe me.

About bugs in game: it's normal thing, usually after third or fourth patch most problem is solved, I've played enough games in my life to notice that. So be so kind and show me a game without bugs and problems or stop complaining. BTW only problem i had with witcher was disappearing textures and it was on overclocked cards after 4 hours of gaming

I've never seen a game with the amount of slowing as witcher. By slowing I mean the gameplay performance degrades rapidly, usualy over a single hour. For the first hour when I was playing the game it ran perfectly, no lag no texture bugs nothing. But come the end of that hour the game would start to lag and the sound would skip.
ok so you just have a bad luck. anyways, are you on vista or xp, cos that might be your issue, my laptop came with vista witch totally sucks, when i was playing bioshock, hdd led was always on and i had loads of slowdowns, after switching to xp problem disappeared and hdd is on idle

I don't believe this! they are making an enhanced edition! AND WHAT ABOUT THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL VERSION ARE THEY SUCKERS THAT ARE BEING LEFT IN THE COLD OR WHAT!!!? I just started playing the original and god damn are the load times and save times unbearable. I mean the fact that it auto saves every single time one of my quest is updated or a new quest is added is horrible. Especially since I cant find a option to turn auto save off. The load times in general from room to room are already bad but when you add a auto save on top of the load time when changing a room its real annoying. I love the actual game so far, but almost not worth it with the loading.

You know, there IS an option of turning autosaving off. It shouldn't be that hard to find if I did it. Just take one more look. And, as far as I know, the loading times are supposed to be fixed in the Enhanced Edition.

I hope they release this enhanced version for free for those who already paid for the original. I already beat the game and would like to play an expansion with new quests and content. But I appreciate the effort into perfecting this game even after its initial release. Way to go CDProjekt.

Wow, I just played the demo of Witcher for the first time, now I am not an RPG person at all but I ended up playing the demo for 3 hours straight which is amazing for me, LOVED IT.
I was very sad to hear the enhanced version will be delayed till September as thats the only full version I want to play, seems like so long to wait =(

I'm kinda pissed with two things - I wanted the game to be perfect (ok, after three patches) when I bought it (yeah, downloading is fine until CDProjekt is there - nothing is forever).
Second - system reqs sucks hard. Gotta play on lowest settings with 800x600 or it's a slide show. I think they could've optimised it better.
Anyway, great game.

The Witcher is an awesome game. I haven't got too far into it yet. I'm not sure what to do - continue playing the game or wait for the enhanced edition. The game is great as is but I'm holding out to hear how much better the writing/voice acting/translation is.

Well...I started over after having to reformat my hard drives...I was only on Act II...I am sure after the free download is available for registered users I will play it again...and the original version brought them this far, so I don't think the improvements will make it so you would have regretted playing through it now.

Don't knock this - this is a great trend for PC gaming! Think about it - new buyers get more, rather than it just going to budget, which for PC gaming does not give a good look, and for those that have the game AND REGISTERED AN ORIGINAL COPY, you get something close to an expansion for free!

Well, the game has sold 600,000 in 3 months, so their target of 1 million sales in the first year now seems reasonable, this is allowing for this upgrade and extras and I am sure this means they have financing for the next game which they are probably quietly working on right now!

Excellent game as i said in my earlier post, although the end is not quite satisfying because lot of unanswered questions remain after the end, and we don't know if they will ever be answered (unlike in the Bioware games witch are also excellent). Also 90% of the Wither fans have already finished the game, and i don't really believe they will play again enhanced edition's main story.

Try Bioware's RPG games like Knights of the Old Republic 1 (and 2 was very good although Obsidian made this game) and Jade Empire. The graphics aren't as good as Wither's of course, but the loading is lightning fast. I liked Witcher a lot, but i am not Polish so i am not a fanatic fan. But for the Polish this game represents something of their national pride that's why they hate your guts!

I liked Jade Empire, obviously not as good graphics as Witcher, but the fighting styles were really fun...Especially drunken master. I also liked the whole medieval china theme. I'm not saying witcher sucked, it just had frustrating bugs which took away from a game they'd obviously put a lot of time and effort into. I blame the production company not the developers.

Troll? Why because I don't like Witcher? I found it boring, rushed and buggy. The boss fights are unbelievable. You're in the middle of fighting one of the main bad guys then all of a sudden yet another shoddy cut scene starts. What was that all about? I finished the game by fighting the grand master, and a few seconds into the fight it just ends, and the Wild hunt guy appears. WTF?

Bethesda can learn something from this, remember their fucking horse armor plugins. The Witcher was great, fantastic story, non-lineair game world, choices and consequences, detailed journal. I fucking loved this game.

Things that suck about this game- They recycle the same actors over and over again. For example, the druid, the hermit, the champ boxer all look identical. The game is BUGGY! You'll be in the middle of a fight against some mobs, then a cut scene will start, and for the whole scene the mobs you were fighting will just be standing next to you, waiting for you to finish your convo. The load/save screens are way too long, as are the area loading screens. Also in main menu when you click Save.

Even on a high spec machine that ran games the like of COD4 and Crysis on high specs fine, this game, with it's 2005 graphics, LAGS. Worst of all, many people experience a problem where after an hour of game play the sound in the game starts to break up, and the only thing you can do to fix it is RESTART!

My GF and I are almost to the end of the game, and it's getting PAINFUL. The story is so frustratingly complicated that it leaves you confused and bored. Too many characters and side stories make for an incredibly fragmented game. I wouldn't recommend Witcher. The game was rushed for an xmas release and it shows. Poor coding, poor story. The game could have been great if they'd finished it.

I had witcher maxed graphics no lag, so I don't know wtf you're on about. And yes I had cod4 and crysis both maxed out, with only a tiny lag on crysis. Both cod4 and crysis, with infinitely better graphics than witcher loaded in about a 10th of the time. A lot of people have had this problem, it's nothing to do with their comps. Since your comp can't max crysis I'd say you need a new one. You also need to chill out and not be so defensive.

That's a load of bullshit. Have you even patched the game? It runs at constant 60+ fps for me, CONSTANT, while Crysis doesnt go near 60 fps on high settings. I don't care if you dislike the game, but don't be a bitch ass liar about it.

Yes I patched the game. The FPS are not bad, but they're not great either. They certainly should be better since the graphics in the Witcher are nothing compared to COD4, which was giving me the 60+ range.

It's well known that the game clipped a bit, and gave you packet loss. This is part of the reason for the improvements I am sure...I am glad they want to make their first game the best it can be, and that should also convince investors or whomever that their second release will be closer to 100% operable than the first. The problem you're having is getting your head around the idea that the game is buggy. It's not a spec issue. My computer also has a problem where after and hour of playing the witcher, the sound starts screwing up and I have to restart. Other people have had this same problem. Nothing to do with the comp. About bugs in game: it's normal thing, usually after third or fourth patch most problem is solved, I've played enough games in my life to notice that. So be so kind and show me a game without bugs and problems or stop complaining. BTW only problem i had with witcher was disappearing textures and it was on overclocked cards after 4 hours of gaming

I've never seen a game with the amount of slowing as witcher. By slowing I mean the gameplay performance degrades rapidly, usualy over a single hour. For the first hour when I was playing the game it ran perfectly, no lag no texture bugs nothing. But come the end of that hour the game would start to lag and the sound would skip.
