  • Man, Kublai Khan looks real snug and cuddly. A type of guy you want to drink beer with.

  • Hatshepsut of the game seem more to Nefertiti of the real life than to Hatshepsut in the real life.

    Do you understand? :p

  • 6:47 This arabic on the script im totally puzzled bt i can read it since im egyption

  • kiss- aim- fire- way of Kublai Khan

  • Damn Lincoln was SRS BIZNESS 24/7!

  • Why did they based Hatshepsut on Neferitit's bust?

  • @tseantan I think because Hatshepsut dressed like a man, and she also used a fake beard like other Egyptians Pharahos, so they must tried to... I don't know....

  • True fact: Hannibal is not Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal was a warrior, Lecter was a psychopath. Hannibal really did live, Lecter was a novel character. Case closed.

  • Carthage was a colony of the Phoenicians and became a big power in its own right later on.

The Phoenicians were from modern day Lebanon.

If you look at modern day Lebanese, they're often slightly olive skinned with multi-colored eyes. Lots of them could pass as Southern European.

  • 2:34 that is what she's wearing at civ 5

  • I wonder why they didn't use the "Battle hymn of the republic" for Lincoln. Would've fit better.

  • Who is the chink instead of Kublai

  • WTF Hannibal lecter doing here

  • hahahahahhahahah hannibal lecter

  • Dude, Isabella was hot...

  • 6:28 OMG Justinian is Kuato from Total Recall!

  • Every time I played a game with Isabella, she would always feel resentment towards me. I NEVER had peace with her, even if I did what she wanted.

  • @GoTFCanada1230 yea, same here. She's a bitch... nuff said...

  • @GoTFCanada1230 im Portugal and Isabella is my best friend in the game. We are the most powerfull empires of the world.

  • @AxierNigromante played russia had isabella right next to me, she didnt even ATTEMPT at expanding.

  • @Brian91506 mmmh she dont expand military, but she will open diplomacy menu and...*smile*...*smile*... give me all your technology... please... *smile*. Saying "no" is impossible xDDD

  • @AxierNigromante Or she will nag to be your ally, then declare war on the 2nd greatest power. Soon to abandon you.

  • @Blackadder125 Constantine was only emperor of western Roman empire (Byzantine empire) he never even would have been a part of having the Eastern or both of the parts of the empire since Diocletian seperated the empire in two about 100 years before Constantine's reign.

  • @carlbrett Constantine was Emperor of the ENTIRE Roman Empire from 324 onwards, after defeating Co-Emperor Licinius at the Battle of Adrianople.

  • nice hannibal touch

  • I think the Americans in this game are the Nephites

  • first picture of abe reminded me of a monkey.

second of bill nye the science guy.

  • Ok because you are all idiots this is why Hitler should not be in the game: Yes, he is probably the most infamous leader of any country, yes, Stalin was more abhorrent than him, but Hitler was a TERRIBLE leader. I don't mean "he killed lots of innocents", I mean "he bankrupted the German economy, forcing it to go into a series of conflicts that it could not possibly win". Add to this Hitler's poor military decisions [two front war, mil hardware choices] and he is cannot possibly be a leader.

  • @PieSeXual AHEM Sitting Bull.

  • @Sabohaque I never said he was the only leader that shouldn't be in, another example would be Gandhi who should really be replaced by Nehru. Tbh I don't approve of a native American civ being in at all.

  • @PieSeXual I agree. I think it might be better to just have the American Empire resemble tribal America up to the modern ages. (did civ3 do that.. don't remember)

  • @PieSeXual Hitler > you.

  • hannibal: cheetah sash is fake. not lecter.

    hatshepsut: maybe wrong headdress...

    huayna: almost bullseye...

    isabella: correct one without crown...

    john ii: almost him already...

caesar: yep; right purple garment... sorry that was blue... almost...

justinian: only piece of idea is first one...

kublai khan: good design... almost accurate...

    abe: yep that's him alright.

  • Please answer me this.I have the complete version of Civilization IV,and in my version Kublai Khan is Qin SHi Huang,i mean the animations are wrong. Can you give an explanation to this?

  • @suvremenebudale1

They got them the wrong way round in the original version, and fixed it in the expansions.

  • Funny how Portugal and Spain are so much the same, but yet so different.

  • when did this game come out. my friend and i play it for fun ( were not very good ) and i thought she had civilization 4 but there are some different leaders... some are the same though..

  • Julius Caesar's music sounds like it was from Spirit Away.....

  • in the game justinian looks dumb

  • I WANT THE PATCH!!!

  • kublai khan cg is supposed to be qin shi huang

  • Much preffered hannibal in Civ3 than 4, he just looked somehow better. MUCH better...

  • Nice chest at 2:45 ; )

  • Ceaser always seems like a stuckup jerk, to me. Boudica and Brennus for the win :)

  • maybe my eyes are deceiving me me . did lncoln have a strange lookin (i dont know how different to say in english) nose as seen in game

  • I love the music for Lincoln!

  • @CastorThePorcupine I will always honor and revere him as one of the greatest leaders we had, also this music, It just describes him, the banjo in the second part is from his backwood upbringing in Kentucky, but the 1st part, tells of his trials and triumphs throughout his administration.

  • lololololololololololol it has Hannibal Lecter as Hannibal of Carthage

  • its actually D. João

  • WTF?! Why is the Great Wall of CHINA behind Kublai Khan - a MONGOLIAN leader?! O.o

  • I think its because he either expanded it, or gave its present form.

  • no actually it was the huns and kublai's father or uncle or gramps or watever but genghis who gave it his name

  • ah, the Huns were driven away from China; they never conquered it.

  • Kublai made the capital of his empire in Beijing so he ruled his empire from China :D

  • He controled it dumbass.

  • @theblackravenisback Kublai Khan was an Emporer of China. Ghengis Khan (his father) took it over for him. HE was Mongolian

  • @allhailMetallica1

It was Kublai that conquered China, and he was Ghengis's grandson.

  • Lol!! Asterix's Julius Caesar xD

    Epic Win. 5 stars

  • J'aime la musique

  • To clear up confusion:

Qin Shi Huang and Kublai Khan changed pictures (but not backgrounds) in Beyond the Sword.

  • I beilived this is CIvilization IV Beyond the Sword.

  • I want Joao's hat...

  • Hannibal Lecter, LOL

  • Your some of your Kublai Khans were Qin Shi Huang.

  • lincoln is buttugly xD

  • Haha. Furious Lincoln. Lucky it's written that he's furious.

  • wheres korea

  • It's alphabetical by leader name, so Wang Kon isn't until much later.

  • Why is Hannible white? I thought his ethnicity was middle eastern.

  • North-African colonies like Carthage were Hellenistic, thus white in origin. Only after the first decline of the Byzantium empire did the Arabs started to ethnically cnquer northern part of Africa.

To this day you can still find families who have blue eyes and/or brown hair in Tunesia, Syria, Turkey, Lebanon et cetera.

  • Most of the peoples of the Middle East are white.

Carthage was phonician in origin. Phonician is a semetic language.

  • I don't see how you figured they are white people. I've lived in the middle east and they don't look nowhere near european. Semetic peoples are not white. Paul and Moses are from the Sem bloodline in the Bible and both were mistaken as Egyptians. Even today Egyptains don't even look white. They're either brown, tan or black.

  • Arabs and jews are tanned they're physiologically very similar to us, they're just tanned and of course there are some ethnicity differences but these are the same like for example Italian people and Scandinavians. People in the middle east are not Arabs, they're similar to people from India (like in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and maybe Iraq as well but I'm not so sure) and they have a different physiology to Arabs and Europeans

  • but they're still white, cause they're not Asians and not black people cause they

  • I was surprised when they made Justinian the Byzantine leader in Civ IV. I thought for certain it was going to be either Constantine or Theodora.

  • Yeah, I thought they'd go with Theodora and use the opportunity to bring in a female leader. But she was Justinianus's wife, so I guess she's still sort of in the game.

As for Constantine, he was leader of the whole Roman Empire, so I think he qualifies more as a Roman then a Byzantine leader.

  • @Blackadder125

Actually the people of the Byzantine Empire considered themselves to be the Roman Empire. It's not like after the Western Empire fell they suddenly stopped being the Roman Empire. It was the Holy Roman Empire that called them Byzantines.

  • @Blackadder125 that doesn't explain for Gilgamesh tho, he was mythical~

  • @leoricoftristram true, because civ ALWAYS uses females as leaders when possible, but Constantine was emperor before byzantine stopped being called the eastern empire..........unless you were talking about one of the other ten emperor named "constantine, in which case I am retarded

  • ceaser looks way yunger in civrev

  • That's Giaus Julius Caesar.

  • Hannibal was darker skinned right?

  • Well I would think so.

  • cleopatra is pretty

  • Huayna Capac is a cool guy. It's good to be his ally. He helps a lot and you can trust him. However I've heard that he can be very agressive when angry ( I don't know I have never been in bad terms with him ).

  • 7Roland:

Rather like the Terrans from Galactic Civilzations II... Often they're slow to built up a military, but once attacked the Terran fleet will suddenly be awesome and everywhere...

  • Love how you put Julius from Asterix.

  • Isabella is beautiful in game( I was love ), but it's not true for the real :(

  • @altan13 Yes I agree. And it's not only in the face that she's different cause she was actually blonde. As you say, it's better that way, she looks pretty, hehe. Most of the people back then (especially the nobles) were really ugly... (inbreeding)

  • @altan13 beautiful or not rumors say columbus banged her anyway lol to get funded whether this is true i dont know

  • @altan13 i think the most beautiful is catherine

  • @altan13 Talkin bout? 3:15 bros probably masterbaited to that in the 15th century lol. That was there porn!

  • You guys don't know how much I HATE Isabella... she's always the main reason I yell at this game.

  • that is not Kublai khan, that is Qin Shi Huang of the Chinese, at least that is how it is on warlords.

  • acually that is Kublai Kahn yet the backround belongs to Qin.

  • No both background and the leader is Qin Shi Huang. Kublai Khan is really that small leader in blue with a double beard.

  • I was gonna type that too lol

  • lol i always think of the other hannibal when I read up on carthage

  • And for some reason I think of "cannibal", like Hannibal (the conqueror) actually ate his victims when he conquered them! Weird, that.

  • when he died they discredited Hannibals name

  • This isn't the original: they were switched around (they were originally right) in Beyond the Sword. Why on earth is Qin Shi Huang in a pleasure garden and Kublai Khan on the Great Wall?!

  • 0:44

    LOOOOL Hannibal Lecter! XD

  • Isabella reminds of my GF

  • They made abe lincoln look a bit like david tennant from Dr. Who

  • you switched kublai khan out with qui shi huang... nice work altogether though :)

  • Actually he didn't swich them out. This is the original version of the game, which has them wrong. The real Qui Shi Huang(who is Chinese) is the one who you are looking at now.

Just Google Qui Shi Huang and you will notice he has his hair tied up into that thing and that Kublai Khan is the one wearing a hat.

The latest patch corrects this mismatch.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOL 00:43

  • it would be funny if they put Hitler in the game Civilization, for neo Nazis every where!

  • Hitler was a leader despite the aberrant things he did... i dont mind him not being in the game but i just want to make that first point clear.

I am not racist or anything but you just cant block history even if it is disgusting.

And for that "GeneralSturnn" guy, killing because of paranoia is almost the same as killing on purpose isnt it?? In the end people dies either way.

  • *Bump*

I believe they didn't choose Hitler was due to the fact that he couldn't do a sqaut right when he led and he created a terrible regime (Goebbels, Goering and the other competed with each other for Hitler's favour).

  • No because people freak out when a game includes Hitler or Nazi's.

  • @COMEONalreadytaken yeah you right Hitler one of the best military leaders even though the path he lead his people was in the wrong direction but WI did stress the germans to the point the wanted radical change, but the game does have strong military leaders like Hannibal is freakiing cool! one of the best military leaders of all time, same thing with genhis khan he conquered and brought forth the biggest continous empire...but he did kill everything in some raids from dogs to cats to children

  • @raaspider Hitler was not a good military leader, the Nazi's had some of the best military generals (rommel). In fact many historians contest that one of the reason why Nazi Germany lost the war was because of Hitler's interfrience in the army's decision making, choosing to go to war with Russia while still fighting the Allies.

  • @COMEONalreadytaken Hitler was not such a great leader, Bismarck and Frederick did much greater things then Hitler did

  • I think Kinggaj100 hit the nail on the head. Civilisation is about important historical leaders. It is completely ridiculous to play the World War II scenario and have the key villian - and most important character - absent.

In light of his leadership performance, he might be:

    a) either Aggressive OR Imperialistic and

    b) either Organised OR Financial (he partly stemmed the Great Depression, iirc)

With his propaganda machine, Charismatic could substitute one of these traits.

  • Surely he must be Expansive

  • Yeah expansive sounds like a good one, aggressive as well, and maybe, and I know I'm gonna catch some flack for this, charismatic ^^ Obviously not to us but inside Germany at the time definitely.

  • the only reason hitler isn't in the game is becasue CIV's biggest market is in Germany and it could result in the game not being sold

    bitches

  • @kingaj100 Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee put it best: "If you even mention the Nazis in Germany, the government comes over and sets your house on fire."

  • And why did they skip Hitler? because he wasn't a leader! sure you can mod him in there(if you feel like wasting your time) if they chose Hitler as a leader Sid Mier could have been called a rascist or Nazi, or something along those lines.

  • And yet Stalin passes muster without incident, despite being no less of an absolute monster.

  • He made into Civ IV because he wasn't a Jew-killing racist, granted he may have killed a few Jews here and there, but he didn't commit a Genocide against them unless he thought they were going to try and userp his power.

  • Stalin butchered millions of his own people purely because he was getting a bit nervous about keeping his power. Countless people who had done absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever were shipped off to the gulags and killed. He's just as bad.

I'm not arguing with you on how hideous Hitler was, but there's plenty who were just as bad as him. Mao Zedong is pretty evil, too.

  • Well yeah, but like I mentioned the reason Hiter is considered so evil is because all he wanted to do was kill Jews, unlike Stalin and Mao who killed out of Paranoia.

  • It wasn't the jewish alone, if I recall correctly they had a system of armbands to identify civilians who belonged to certain groups. Jews had the star of david, but then there were other groups, among them I believe were gays and Roma (more commonly known as gypsies but I dont know if that's a polite term for them or not), as well as quite a lot of others.

Still yeah, putting Hitler in any game where you're not killing or mocking him probably isn't a good idea at all.

  • lol this is civilzation its easy make a custom game have hitler as a rivel civi and kill him off end of story

  • @LuminarNightblade I agree. Stalin commited a holocaust just as bad if not worse than Hitlers, and why was it never brought to light and had a World War waged against him? He was an Allied power. Thats the only reason no one has said anything about the Russian holocaust...

  • dude hitler was a leader if you read up on his history he ran for President over Germany <.<

anyway it dont matter if he in there or not i would say it was kinda better he was end there cuzz he apart of history sure he did some very ulgy thing but if you do a background check on some of the leader that are already in the game im pretty sure you going to find some pretty nasty stuff on them to so it kinda not fair to leave him out

  • We all know that, but he was never a leader in Civ(any of them)

  • That is very true. Josh Stalin is in the game. If I recall he odered millions of Christains to die in Russia. Along with simply killing his own people for years.

Ganghis Khan was also a ville leader, had he was not stop in europe, there wouldn't have been a europe

  • This was just because he lost war with Poland when he tried to conquer Poland. It's good to remember this.

  • Genghis Khan never lost against eastern europeans cause by that time he was already dead, in 1241 Outnumbered Mongols defeated the hungarian and polish armies, when everything seemed to be lost... Ogedei (the Khan) died, and the mongol armies retreated to the new Khan's selecting.

  • @regnarBO I think Joseph Stalin SHOULD be in the game. Yes, they had an unwritten holocaust just like the Germans. No one cares that Russia did the same thing cause they were an Allied power. But also, many Russians looked up to Stalin and respected him. He did make Russia quite a strong nation for many years before and after WWII.

  • in civ y did they switch Qin Shi Hung and Kublai Khans pictures?

  • The pictures are teh wrong way round in civ 4. The Beyond The Sword expansion pack fixes it.

  • i love Hunayna Capac music

  • Justinius is jealous because he doesn't look as cool ingame as he did IRL

  • ooh i like Joao!!

  • lol hannibal lecter

  • No one really knows what any of them really look like, considering most of the Ancient Artwork was constructed long after they were dead.

  • I do believe one of your Justinian pictures is really Anastatius, the ivory carved one I"m reading a book on Byzantium and it mentions this, becuase Anastatius recieved an Indian Embassy

  • I have a photo of João II that is more similar with that one.

  • Evr noticed Justinianus wears a cowhide?

  • The animation of Kublai Khan should be Shi Huang Di of China. Look at the great wall in the back ground. They fixed this in later version if my memory is correct.

  • João II's theme is my favorite in this part.

  • hitler should be in this game

  • Perhaps, but he can't be in it, as it would make the game illegal in Germany and Australia, and very controversial in the rest of the world.

  • yes, its illegal to make a game with picture of someone who dont like someone other. So people, be friendly! maye we will want a game with you. ;P

  • He wouldn't be in. Racist-factors aside, he was often mad and was a horrible military commander.

  • You could also argue the same for Stalin.

But what you can't argue is the enormous impact both had on their countries.

  • Hannibal's theme is my favorite in this part, followed by Joao's and Justinianus's.

  • I like Spanish music and that indian, Arab also(Isabella in Civ4 is hot!)

  • why are they all so angry at you?

  • You do know that the Qin leaderhead is now for Kublai Khan, and vice-versa, right?

  • yes, I know. I swapped them back, as I was too used to them being switched.

  • lol Asterix

  • D. João II!!!

  • VIVA PORTUGAL!!!

  • melhor musica do jogo, kwisatz haderach
