@rouvinm the flaw in this logic is that if you consider the holy texts embodiment of god=Gods word then shouldnt say things that are contradictory ,Would God teach different things? Now lets suppose he would if taught to different ppl .Temporarily until they evolve to the next step.So..

Suppose the truth is a stairway to heaven .Would you place polygamy ,stonings ,discrimination on women,revenge ,rape etc -,the way of the sword on the top stair?

@delagrazia I have placed these words under quote marks because the ignorant person will view 'happiness' as Gods blessing and 'suffering' as His punishment. The truth is neither of these. Happiness and Suffering, Good and Bad are different sides of the same coin. God is both of these. Happiness though uplifting, can often distract one from the path of God, for who will think of God when you have got everything you need from him. Hollywood shows us many examples of this...Cont.

@delagrazia Suffering on the other hand, though is initially painful, will strengthen the spiritual aspirant, force him to dig deep and discover powers he never knew he had that will bring him far close to realising God than if he never went through the tragedy. All the consequences you mention fall in this catagory (stonings, rape etc.). If the individuals view these consequences as an opportunity for growth, they can rapidly grow spiritually. Many have shown this is possible....
