@SoulRollerFIN The integrated H55N does not work and is not supported at all, which is too bad - I did start with multibeast, but since I have quite a lot of build experience with hackintosh, all the way back to 10.4.6 I decided to improve the build - send me a private message as I have a full build kit and screenshots of all my bios settings. Bluetooth does work just fine, as does sleep, shutdown, restart, etc.. its a vanilla kernel.. its an excellent board and well supported.
Thanks Mastah! Can you pls let me know... since the i3 540 has onboard graphics, is it necessary to have an additional video card if I just need this for basic purposes to start with? Would obviously consider getting add-on GPU later.
Awesome video ... I'm looking to see if it's possible to build out one of these but with a slimmer case to fit inside of my tv shelf unit to perform as a media center.
@creativedave Yeah sure you could easily build it into a slimline case, however you get a restriction on height for the GPU - if you wanted a build like this for HTPC in a slim case, i'd suggest a slim card like a fanless 8400GS - it would only give you one dvi out, however you would have a card capable of playback of any media.. and they're ~20.00 if you look around plus supported out of the box.
Thanks for your insight Mastah! Check this: I was thinking about picking up the ZOTAC 9300-ITX-WiFi Desktop Motherboard . It's got the Nvidia 9300 built in and a whole lot of other stuff. That might solve the GPU height problem right there. I don't know how great the 9300 is for media center purposes though. Next I'm going to try to find a very slim line case (maybe even the mac mini case if I can find one for cheap)...
@creativedave Not very easy to use that board for osx, i'd stay away from it - theres a thread on insanelymac, but keep in mind its an lga 775 processor socket and last gen ram. you can use this board or the zotac h55n usb3 - if you're needing low profile, you can switch the vid card to an 8400gs or 220, they both work ootb.
@antonpictures It was just a spare cash build - the case I used did not have the greatest airflow, so I wanted a less power hungry processor (plus a cheap build - was going for an htpc setup)
The board easily handles i7-1156 processors and is quite an overclocker. I was going to sell this build and do it up right :D

I'd also like to know about the integrated GPU and if it works or not. And does sleep mode work with a bluetooth card/dongle attached to the machine?
Thanks tho. You inspired me to build one with this motherboard and CPU. Haven't tried multibeast yet. I'd say it's about time to try it! :P

Awesome. Let me ask why i3 and not i7.
Temperature or power supply problem?
Price?
or the coller does not fit in the case?
