Why does these rugby vs football (american) debates always start? Not one is better then the other, just because you claim to play both doesn't mean sh*t. It's personal preference I've heard many who say they play both have their own preference.
@Kazter11 actually rugby is safer, in football ypu have more chance of permenant damage to your legs from tackels, my mate broke his shin and ankle in football, in 3 years of rugby i've had no injuries
@Kazter11 even with a leg lift done correctly and if you land correctly you should be ok , ive seen more injures on the person tackling than the person tackled usually because they tackled at the knee and broke their nose from being kneed in the face
@saxophonehero it's really annoying when people say a sports is better than another, it's all opinion there are no factors that make a sport better, but if you're talking about popularity, football wins that one.
I used to be second row at school. Our team lost every single match (except to one school once) over the two years. We only had half a team but I would round up the football team players to help out. Good on them for joining in. I couldn't play rugby now though. I still have trouble with the old injuries. Was it worth it? Just about.
I play Rugby union and Rugby league for my year (16's) and for Opens. They are both very physical games, but, I believe Rugby definatley requires more fitness and strength. But League Is alot more physical as a result of it being an easier game to play because or non-contestant scrums and no line outs etc. This is just my opinion from a front rower's perspective
I dont see why this is such a problem? rugby is one sport with some opinions, footballs another sport with different opinion and so is 'soccer' football in england. everyone just jam and keep ur opinions to urself as for me theyre all respectful sports.
"Scrum" by Slayer pretty much sums up Rugby in terms of physicality. Im not a small guy but im not about to play a game like this with no pads. My hat's off in respect. /watch?v=djKZDi0GkgM
It really pisses me off these shitty arguments about what's better between rugby and American football, THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! Obviously Americans would find American football better, so stop being so ignorant everyone!
@silentshot451 How can you even say that? Rugby is one of the most popular sports in the world, i'm guessing you're another ignorant yank, but if you haven't noticed, rugby is played by nearly every major nation in the world, and even though it was invented in Britain, doesn't mean it's only popular there, there's this place called the Southern Hemisphere... Take a trip and see for yourself if rugby is popular or not.
@oFreddEo123 Don't make assumptions like that when you clearly know nothing. Soccer and Rugby are two almost completely different sports, requiring their own set of skills and strengths to succeed. Its morons like you that keep all this bullshit youtube arguing rampant. Feel free to reply to this when you find where you left your intelligence a long time ago.
@illbiteyourface WOW. Fuck your bitch ass! What are you trying to prove because no doubt you are trying. I'm not buying what you say so don't waste your time or mine. If you reply you suck dick.
@oFreddEo123 Well lets look at the facts here, I've played both sports at both school and club level, if you took the time to get your fat ass off your seat and try the same you would see that both sports do require different conditioning to play. Oh by the way, conditioning in stupider terms means what kind of physical shape your body is in. Reply all you want, you're last two were stupider than the first so I'm expecting a new low from you.
@AceFaceJarv nicely said mate, I've always preferred rugby...being welsh obviously :) and I have never really clicked on with American football. And as you said there, I think it may be because it dies require more skill, agility, and a higher pain threshold. It is a more in depth sport, rugby. Plus, us over here don't wear cages on out faces, running around like the incredible hulk in all the padding, calling it sport!
To clear it up for anyone who still doesnt know from experience: Rugby is superior to am 'football'. I've played Ruby throughout school, club and Uni ('college' for those across the pond) which is when I took up 'football' We had a tour in the States to Alabama and Georgia so this was pretty serious stuff before anyone says I dont know what i'm talking about.. RUGBY requires more skill, agility, stamina and pain threshold. End Of! Seriously, before you say I'm wrong, think, have you played both?
@AceFaceJarv I know what your talking about. i played both also and i agree with what your saying. The only differance is in football you seem more prone to individual big hits rather than a small group hitting you like in rugby, but rugby is just non-stop and much more painfull. You do need to be in great shape to be at all decent. I dont agree that its "supirior", that is for the individual to deside. I like PLAYING both equally but i prefer WATCHING football.
@qwertdylol valid. although i prefer watching rugby, i guss beacuse it doesnt take three hours due to excessive adverts and team changes. But each to their own....
@AceFaceJarv i bow down to people like you iv played american football n there is no way n hell id ever play rugby u gotta have sum balls to play tht shit
@AceFaceJarv actually i do play both i play american football and rugby and i think rugby and football are equals because they both require the same skill i think but thats just my humble opinion
@AceFaceJarv I agree with you but it mainly matters what level your playing at for each sport you may have been better at rugby and playing a higher level so its more intense.
@AceFaceJarv i have played both and i agree 100%, rugby is a much harder sport to play than football it is also alot more enjoyable to the people playing it
at 1:02 I thought (Oh FUCK) because iv e seen this being played out as a joke during Rugby League training, and it didn't end very well, because the Rugby Union player transfer ended up in a coma for 6 months, so much for the well come the new club, this is a bad idea and i recommend no one to do it!. (american) football players dont fake injuries u limp dick because theyre tough SoBs that love to play the game and faking an injury would just keep them off the field... Oh and btw rugby aint got shit on football when it comes to hits!!
@ itzmattvause. Firstly in football the only dangerous tackle is a face mask or horse collar. Spear tackle, high tackle, up enders, no wrap; all legal. the fact that players can rest in between plays, makes for harder hits. I love rugby, I love football. Playing both I will say this; rugby requires more toughness, whereas football is hella more violent. It's the simple truth. I'm Canadian, born in Cymru; not American. idiots who hate US, just because are idiots. Where are you from?
@cthunda77 im british and i agree with you on this. i dont hate america although it does get overrated, anyone who spear tackles in rugby is a fool, rugby is not a dirty game and should be played according to the rules. where tackling in am football is more dangerous due to the nature of the game and padding but in most circumstances it doesnt hurt as much as rugby... thats my opinion
oh my fucking god I’m tired of replies to my comment. No I’m not a keyboard warrior, yes I have played both, rugby was back in junior high i wasn’t so athletic & football in high school (small school so i got in), my friends made me join. I couldn’t handle football as much.
tbh most of you guys could teach me a thing or two, but for me football was more no holds barred
Rugby felt harder because of less dampening
I may not have been good, But I have 60 thumbs ups and don’t give a fuck anymore.
i don't get it. i play football and rugby, and they are not the same sport. stop comparing them. if you don't understand that then you are special in your own way. STOP COMPARING THEM. they are not the same sport!!
I can only hope that everyone out there who is hating on the USA is actually a gentleman in real life. Don't be the same xenophobic assholes that you are accusing us of being. Whatever actual experience, if any, you've had with the US should not stain your view of our great country.
Love how ppl compare american football. When they are 2 totally different types of games. Yes they both involve hitting but rules and field are totallly different.
Rugby uses a much wider playing field compared to football, Players on field for rugby is 13 in football 11, Ball movement in football is just foward rugby is backwards are sideways....so stop comparing american football to rugby. There two totally different games.
@TheMrGeorgiatechfan american football is backwards forwards and sideways, mate. once they reach the advantage line they cannot throw forward, but only back......
I play rugby and i know this. you obviously dont know the rules for either game.
@s1052102 I play Football you obviously dont know the rules or plays of football....When you get to the "advantage line" its call slant route or screen pass....can still throw from the 1 yard line :)
@j2ching Im not sayin rugby isnt really rough, but the way i look at it, its "amreican football" with no pads. Not a smart idea if you ask me but thats just my opinion on it
@molysox I think you will find that Rugby came well before "American Football", so if you are correct in that they are similar (which you are not because the game is actually very different) then shouldn't your logic say that American Football is like rugby but with pads?
@j2ching i personally play both and feel that football is more bone crushing but rugby is more of a on the surface pain with more repedative hitting but less painfull per hit
@j2ching i don't get it. i play football and rugby, and they are not the same sport. stop comparing them. if you don't understand that then you are special in your own way. STOP COMPARING THEM. they are not the same sport!!
@j2ching american football is pretty hardcore did you see the way they fall and they slam into each other in my opinion rugby got nothing on american football
@TheExoticAnimal mate your on drugs, american football goes for 3 to 4 hours a game, they wear helmets and pads for fuck sake, in the nrl rugby league some players are doing over 30 tackles a game, and running as well, all in 80 mins. thats something a linebacker would do in a whole season
@j2ching NFL hits are more violant, period. Hence why they wear pads. I've played both, still play rugby. I assume you haven't even played American football. In a game, a running back will experience 30 hits equivalent to 30 car crashes. There's a reason that most careers don't last longer than three years and the regular season is only 16 games. Know your shit!!!
@cthunda77 stop talking shit ive played both and american football aint got shit on rugby, the games are pretty much the same apart from the rules and actual game, the padding takes away the impactive seen many more injuries in rugby then american football. also we have played no pads american football and its the same as rugby. so stfu and know your shit!!! american football is overrated just like most things in america
@j2ching american soccer! just the name : soccer, it sucks, why soccer? we play with our feet, feet= football, foot push the ball, not soccer, socks! socks, doesn't push a fucking ball, seriously, americans, you are so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@djsims2 Doubt it. They probably sign a contract acknowledging that they could get seriously hurt and if they do the makers of the program cant be held responsible because they went into it knowingly and sign a contract.
those guinea pigs are lucky they were doing this experiment in england!!!fucking soft ass pommies..guinea pigs woulda been taken away in a streacher if it was in NZ
@al00ker I never said anything about padding? Bloody hell thought the people watching this would play rugby and thus understand and go along with a bit of banter
@SweetSanityX First you dont have to go low. You can attempt to steal the ball from the opponents hands or you can tackle high to prevent him from off loading.

holy fuck no pads or anything. Couldn't they get him better protection than a padded blanket? this is brutal rofl....
rhodes1986 10 months ago
@rhodes1986
They dont wear protection in rugby so it would be unfair :)

TheMrGeorgiatechfan 10 months ago
@TheMrGeorgiatechfan actually there are 15 players on the field in rugby
Cocotheclowification 10 months ago
@TheMrGeorgiatechfan american football is backwards forwards and sideways, mate. once they reach the advantage line they cannot throw forward, but only back......
I play rugby and i know this. you obviously dont know the rules for either game.
s1052102 10 months ago
@s1052102 I play Football you obviously dont know the rules or plays of football....When you get to the "advantage line" its call slant route or screen pass....can still throw from the 1 yard line :)
TheMrGeorgiatechfan 10 months ago
How much they get paid for this I wonder

j2ching 10 months ago 131
@j2ching Im not sayin rugby isnt really rough, but the way i look at it, its "amreican football" with no pads. Not a smart idea if you ask me but thats just my opinion on it
molysox 10 months ago
@molysox I think you will find that Rugby came well before "American Football", so if you are correct in that they are similar (which you are not because the game is actually very different) then shouldn't your logic say that American Football is like rugby but with pads?
sarauk2sf 10 months ago
@j2ching so true
tdaman123 10 months ago
@j2ching i personally play both and feel that football is more bone crushing but rugby is more of a on the surface pain with more repedative hitting but less painfull per hit
skull9111 9 months ago
@j2ching i don't get it. i play football and rugby, and they are not the same sport. stop comparing them. if you don't understand that then you are special in your own way. STOP COMPARING THEM. they are not the same sport!!
MasterMrMusic 9 months ago
@j2ching american football is pretty hardcore did you see the way they fall and they slam into each other in my opinion rugby got nothing on american football
TheExoticAnimal 9 months ago
@TheExoticAnimal mate your on drugs, american football goes for 3 to 4 hours a game, they wear helmets and pads for fuck sake, in the nrl rugby league some players are doing over 30 tackles a game, and running as well, all in 80 mins. thats something a linebacker would do in a whole season
llandod77 9 months ago
@llandod77 maybe your right maybe your wrong i dont really care i just commented my opinion were all intitled to it:)
TheExoticAnimal 9 months ago
@TheExoticAnimal i did the same thing you did, voice an opinion
llandod77 9 months ago
@j2ching NFL hits are more violant, period. Hence why they wear pads. I've played both, still play rugby. I assume you haven't even played American football. In a game, a running back will experience 30 hits equivalent to 30 car crashes. There's a reason that most careers don't last longer than three years and the regular season is only 16 games. Know your shit!!!

j2ching 9 months ago
@j2ching your probably all on steroids :P Note how only america plays it because its a sport that hasn't passed on...
fishyollie 9 months ago
@cthunda77 stop talking shit ive played both and american football aint got shit on rugby, the games are pretty much the same apart from the rules and actual game, the padding takes away the impactive seen many more injuries in rugby then american football. also we have played no pads american football and its the same as rugby. so stfu and know your shit!!! american football is overrated just like most things in america
itzmattvause 8 months ago
@j2ching sure it does mate. it has more but its a different sport so no need to cry about it

xxxar0wxxx 8 months ago
@j2ching you play rugby without protective equipment like in football. So, you can't really compare. Its a preety brutal game if you play.
danielradcliffegirl 8 months ago
@j2ching american soccer! just the name : soccer, it sucks, why soccer? we play with our feet, feet= football, foot push the ball, not soccer, socks! socks, doesn't push a fucking ball, seriously, americans, you are so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@djsims2 Doubt it. They probably sign a contract acknowledging that they could get seriously hurt and if they do the makers of the program cant be held responsible because they went into it knowingly and sign a contract.

The first guy that tackled is a dumb jackass...U have to go low when tackeling -.-
...amateurs...
SweetSanityX 1 year ago
@SweetSanityX First you dont have to go low. You can attempt to steal the ball from the opponents hands or you can tackle high to prevent him from off loading.
