WMP in full screen is fine, even plays 720p and 1080p HD no frames dropped. However do NOT adjust the screen brightness when playing WMP full screen, it will BSOD. Adjust screen brightness before playing WMP. Obviously there is a driver bug which needs to be fixed here.
Flash video still needs to be optimised now. But from what I've seen Flash struggles playing full screen with Atom powered PCs in general. However with recent drivers, it's far better than what's seen in the video here.
what about watching a film i know it hasnt got a disk drive but i mean when you use a memory stick does it play hd and or does it slow the frame rate down on normal media ?
but still the computer specs are very badly, and with the price they have on this computer you could buy a decent gaming laptop. just because is so tiny doesn't mean its good. this computer doesn't even has its own video card, all it has is a video adapter and uses memory from the mother board so you can view the operating system and applications. i rather have the asus n10
Vista blows! I have used every OS Microsoft has developed since Windows 3.1 (you probably don't know what that is) And Vista really pissed me off. Awful, just awful...
Well, I will tell you since you're evening revolves around this discussion. Explain what the hell "Run As Administrator" means, and why it runs programs differently?
Vista is superior to XP in every way. It's only problem is that it uses more resources, but on decent machines that isn't a problem. Windows 7 fices even this.
Sony really should of just tried to create a slightly higher end, better, and a tag more expensive netbook than everyone else.Instead of making this waayy over priced POS.
Agreed. The Vaio P should have only shipped with XP, like all the other 'netbook' type Atom CPU powered PCs. Then there would have been non of the sluggishness as seen here.
The shear amount of crapware Sony puts on its Vaio's doesn't help the situation much either.
I acquired a P last weekend. First thing I did was to remove Vista. Then installed XP and Windows 7 RC as dual-boot. Performance is great now. Plays Quicktime HD video full screen no problems.
I dont agree. I think that the VAIO P should've shipped with Windows 7. Shipping with windows xp would ruin the goal of the p series. Which is "aesthetics".
As Windows 7 is not out yet, it has to ship with Vista. No doubt it will ship with 7 after the October release. I believe Sony is releasing a new version of the P before the year is out, no doubt with improved specifications.
It currently has to ship with Vista, because it's got 2GB of RAM. This makes it above the specifications as what's defined as a 'netbook' by Microsoft. However it's still an Atom CPU, and these don't perform that well with Vista.
A newer version before the year is out? ...damn.. I have ordered mine from the Japanese website... 2ghz 2gbram.. i am waiting for it to be made... I have to wait until OCT 22nd... do you know why they take so goddamn long?!!
I'm still guessing they're waiting for Windows 7. Because the current Vista machines have had a bit of a bad press and reviews. One is thinking the faster P with Windows 7 will get better reviews, and therefore sales.
BTW I'm currently in Hong Kong and I've seen 1GB Ps on sale here with XP loaded, as well as the 2GB Vista machines. I've never seen the XP machines on sale in Europe.
No kidding!! I've just watched this video, in full screen HQ, on my Samsung NC10 and it was absolutely perfect. Sony can keep their utterly ridiculous priced and under-performing style over substance nonsense. Anyone who actually pays good money for that is a pillock!
Thanks for exploring this aspect of the Vaio P! Watching YouTube videos is what I (and I'm sure many others here as well) do often on a computer, and would do all the more so on a very portable netbook like this one. So poor performance with YouTube videos is enough to kill my gadget lust for this computer. Perhaps with better drivers... Sigh...

It's slow because of Vista. Put Windows 7 on this PC and it flies.

It's only slow at playing Flash video full screen, because Flash not very efficient.
With WMA and Quicktime video, including HD, it plays these videos just fine at full screen no frames dropped.
BTW video performance on the Vaio P is much better with Windows 7 RC than Vista.

VERY sad with the video frame rate on full screen

Get Windows 7 for this vaio and it supposedly works great!

VISTA DOESN'T BLOW.
It's not that bad if the HARDWARE that Vista is using doesn't suck cock.

pikeymutt 2 years ago
Yeah I know what that is. I'm not fucking stupid.
Let me ask you, why does it suck so much?
Why did it piss you off? You're making generalizations saying it's just awful, but give me a reason why.
xxxxxlolwutxxxxx 2 years ago
1.) You have to be young to not know what Windows 3.1 was, not stupid, I never said that.
2.) Too many reasons to explain why it sucks, and I am an avid PC user, all my life, Vista is what made me almost go buy a Macbook, but I didn't.
3.) I'm making generalizations because my reasons are too many to waste time on posting them on YouTube.
pikeymutt 2 years ago
1.) You're implying I'm young? Ooh! What an insult!
2.) That's an awful excuse. Give me ONE reason why it sucks. JUST ONE.
xxxxxlolwutxxxxx 2 years ago
1.) Way to steal my bullet points.
2.) Learn to interpret the English language to know whether or not someone is insulting you.
3.) (See previous #3 point on previous post)
pikeymutt 2 years ago
• Now I'm using my own bullet points.
• I'm quite adept in the English language, thank you.
• Just name one. I don't care how many there are. What pisses you off the most about Vista?
xxxxxlolwutxxxxx 2 years ago
You must be an intern for Microsoft or something.

The low performances are partly due to Windows Vista.
I don't think that the results would be the same with Windows XP SP3.
