I am going to France soon in July and I am freaking out about all of this stuff! btw (by the way) it depends on which airline and which airport you go on and to, but you have to chuck out your water at security because they asume it might have drugs or things like that in it!!!

Some things she didn't mention - NEVER check your jewelry or your iPod or laptop. And in case they DO lose your bag for a few hours, keep a pair of underwear in your carry-on or purse.

Do not travel with passports, tickets etc on the outside of your bag.

keep them close on your person or in a bag that's clipped to you. Keep them out of sight! thieves are just waiting to snatch such items!!

That carry on is too small. Samsonite sells a carry on that has side pockets, wheels, and a handle. It has the dimensions to carry on the airplane overhead. It just should not be tightly packed. It has space for clothes, shoes, curling iron, and the 1 quart plastic bag for liquids and gels. With a carry on like that you don't have to carry suitcases (and pay their fees) in a one week trip.

con't: Water is not automatically allowed onboard planes at some terminals no matter where you buy it. No consistency on this rule. Where it is allowed, then you wouldn't be packing it at home anyway. Now days when travelers think "carry on" its more the 1 carry-on for the whole trip or at least enough for emergencies - that is the type of video that is helpful.

I'm sure she is a very nice well meaning lady but her video is out of date and not practical.

When videos are this far out of date (see "3-1-1" rule & usually no water (just 3oz in qt. baggie, even if purchased from airside) they should be scraped and redone. Plus what she packed in the bag could have been packed in a medium sized purse (well unless you're a man). When experienced travelers pack for carry-on, the ones I know pack A LOT differently from what this woman suggested. I still say she needs an up to date guide. Thanks.

If you like her packing style then you would probably not like my favorites-the video by Ferriss-he does a great job (plus He's entertaining)-and the proper one by the butler (all that wonderful tissue paper but not do-able unless you actually have a butler)

I state again-this woman is packing an extra bag with mostly things that a normal woman already has in her purse, but not a single piece of clothing. For men-these are things they put in exterior pockets of regular carry-on luggage. con't
