The whisper says: "See your dead wife, come home and do some laundry, maybe take her to the car to save some space."

It could be either Mary's voice taunting James' subconsciousness, or James' subconscious itself. It either has what he thought after she killed Mary or what he's thinking right now. "See your dead wife" part simply means going to "see" your wife who you know being dead. It's like any of us would think, if we were forcing ourselves trying to see someone who is dead, being curious.

@Massacretalitor He likes to believe she can still see her, but he knows he can't. He thinks he will not find anyone there, and it will just be a journey back home to live his life like he used to so far (the letter being bocus). Which brings us to the next segment (I now noticed I made a typo in referrence, it's "do some laundry TO ESCAPE, ...."), it means he will live his life like nothing happened to escape the fact what he did to Mary, being affraid to admit it.

After he killed Mary, it's possible he took the body and put it somewhere like back trunk of the car... maybe she's still there. Maybe he dumped the car somewhere and got a new one. It's suggested Mary wasn't at hospital when she died, she was actually released and James was taking care of her in their home. And if James killed her, he most likely wanted to hide her, to deny it all happened.

When you walk around Silent Hill 2, you'll notice that the men who are killed either outside or within always look like James. The guy killed at the TV is the guy Heather finds, because the entire series is just her mental state and memories, parts of her life, personality and feelings divided into characters. You'll also notice that James and original Harry look exactly the same, and Cheryls mom looks like Mary slightly. And you see Cheryls face in background drawings EVERYWHERE here.

I couldn't agree with you more! SH2 and SH5 are my favorites. Team Silent should come back and make the next game TEN times scarier with more memorable characters and have a plot for example that is about a group of people that decide to camp near silent hill and start hearing scary sounds and have visions.

I have the feeling the next silent hill sequel if made in japan will hopefully reveal if james is still alive or dead. Though I have the feeling he is still ALIVE. I finished the game with the in the water ending where he drives his car with mary's body into the lake, though we don't see him drive the car into the lake, we only hear it happen. perhaps if the true ending is in the water, then maybe he jumped out of the car before it went into the lake.
