Secondly, I'm currently studying to BE a history teacher, and I'm guessing I'm probably more interested in Greek history than he is.
Now, sure, technically it is accurate to call Alexander Macedonian. Just like Leonidas was Spartan, and Pericles was Athenian. There was no unified "nation" of Greece, just a bunch of independent city states, leagues of city states, and kingdoms. Macedonia was a Greek kingdom in the northern part of Greece.

If you're talking about some woman from FYROM named Alexandra, then you're right, but that wouldn't make any sense. The Macedonians spoke a dialect of Greek, worshipped the Greek gods, participated in Greek games, etc. If they weren't Greek, why were they doing all those things? Why did Alexander spread Greek culture throughout his empire if he wasn't Greek?

Slavs came in this region 1000 years after Alexander's era. Macedonians spoke and write in Greek, having the same gods with them. They were Greek -Dorius (like Spartans). People in FYROM are Slavs so they cant be Macedonians. Learn history first and then start to debate. just type "ancient Macedonians» in Wikipedia or Britannica and you will have no doubts about the Greek origin of Macedonians (Iam Macedonian too)

Greeks stopped the Persian expansion in Europe in 480bc and later in Alexander's age conquered their empire.The Byzantine Greeks stopped the Persians, the Huns, the Abars, the Arabs and the seljuk turks, protecting Europe from all these barbarians for centuries. Ehmmm, excuse me...unless my memory fails me, when the Turks landed on Kardak/Imia (or whatever), the Greeks were already on the other islet (which to you, is Turkish territory also). So let's see the rationale: Greeks were on one islet and Turks on the other. Both sides considered both islets as their own. So both had "enemies" on top. And both "enemies" left on their own will. Hardly a triumph for each side...
