I have Borla Exhausts on my 2002 GT. I like them, even though i wish they were just a little bit louder during normal driving conditions. Mine came with them already on, from the guy i bought it from, i may get some flowmasters. Bit more of a roar. :)

Hey ekturbo2 I have a procharged mustang with 360ish rwhp.. And I just recently blew cylinder 4's rings.. And that was over 50,000 miles of boost.. The internals on the 4.6 aren't the best.. Well from what master mechanics for ford have said about these engines.. But 500 hp.. No fucking way.. 400 is pushing it.. I pushed mine too far.. But I still take SRT8 chryslers haha

Its actually the stock starter. I had my fuel pump go out a couple years back after the car sat for 6 months. The starter got hot after a long cranking session during trouble shooting. Ever since then it's sounded a lot higher pitched, but I have never had a problem with it. I actually think it sounds kinds cool. Everyone thinks it a some expensive starter LOL

Wow! Where do I begin? First of all, several of you are morons. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, the ford GT and SVT Lightning have only one thing in common and that is both of their engines displace 5.4 L. The Lightning has a SOHC 5.4 where the GT has a DOHC 5.4. Theyre not the same crank, rods, pistons, heads, or even superchargers. Plus the GT has a dry sump oiling system which prevents starving the engine of oil on a race track.

This car is easily running a 1/4 mile track at low 11's with the setup in this video. Maybe get a higher gear ratio, like 4.10's, and you are probably going to run about high 10's in 1/4 mile with a tune. Whatever you do to this car, the fact remains, it's badass! You can't beat the '99-04 4.6L V8 GT's!! They are easy to modify. You have to be an old man these days to buy a non-Ford product ha. I see 60 year old grandpa's driving Corvette Z06's to work everyday!! Hahaha!

You can achieve 500hp and make it reliable power. Of course, you will experience the "Domino Affect" if you are NOT careful. One must consider an efficient cooling system, fuel delivery system, boost & fuel guages, forged crankshaft, pistons, & rods, racing valve springs, high performance clutch, maybe new gears, high performance axles, and maybe a posi unit. Of course, the other performance mods for 500hp. There you have it, 500hp reliably in a '99-'04 Mustang GT cheaper than a Z06. Good day.

By the way, dump $10,000-$13,000 in a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 and you are beating a new Dodge Challenger Hemi. Haha, dump 70K in that Mustang GT, the cost of a C6 Corvette, and you have a NON Street Legal 7 second Mustang.

i completely agree with everything you say... the only problem that is killing ford is they are not making the same reliable car they once made... not saying its weak just not as reliable... that said i would much rather spend $40,000 to $50,000 and buy a totaled svt lightning truck with the 5.4L supercharged V8 and do an engine swap with either a 03-04 mustang gt or cobra... you then instantly get a Ford GT killer... and with a few mods a Lambo/Ferrari killer ( in a straight line of course)

I am a little sceptical on your claim of producing a Ford GT killer. However, I do agree with you on things. But, you say that Ford does not make the same reliable car, do you have facts to back that up because I would really be interested in hearing something I have never heard of before. Also, if I wanted a good handling car I would buy a Toyota Supra or LS1 C5 Corvette. For straight line, 99-04 Mustang GT's all day, because of the fact 5 miles from my house they sell them for $2000 & mod 'em.

okay the Ford GT has the same basic engine that is in the ford svt lightning... the ford lightning was created as a pick up truck version of the ridiculous svt cobra... however unlike the cobra's 4.8L v8 the lightning was given the 5.4L v8... then in 06 when ford decided to remake the original ferrari and Le Mans destroyer aka the Ford GT 40...

In 2006, Ford remade the once Ford GT40, but it was called the Ford GT. The Ford GT40 actually goes back to the mid-'60s. I am sceptical on the Ford SVT Pick Up Truck being faster than a Ford GT, if both had the same power and mods, the Ford GT would obviously be faster, it is an insane vehicle. Plus, the Ford GT is pretty light. You have to be doing something to that SVT Truck, you may get it faster than a Ford GT in a 1/4 mile, but circle track, forget it. The Ford GT is one of my favorites!
