We are simply fighting back against someone who says they know why the universe is here, and fighting against those who want to install theocracy against free thinkers and other religions. I have read the entire Bible. Isaiah, not Daniel stated babylon would be devastated & never again inhabited. Still applicable today. It's easy to say it's completely wrong without backing it up. Archeology regularly confirms Biblical history most accurate of all. The firmament you are referring is before the great flood (which took science 1000's of years to concur), underground springs were the source of water, not rain. A fool is someone who knows the right thing to do but doesn't. Scripture says "a fool says in his heart there is no God". We're all fools sometimes. We just have to humbly admit it before we can seek God.

Tithes are voluntary, not always one percent and their only purpose in modern times is maintenance for churches and living expenses for priests. In Old Testament times they were taxes and thus mandatory.
If you were a member of say a club which uses a hall once a week or owns a property which it is often used by the club, it is not unreasonable to ask for voluntary donations for the maintenance of the properties or the hiring of a hall.

I have read the entire Bible. Isaiah, not Daniel stated babylon would be devastated & never again inhabited. Still applicable today. Job, the oldest book of the bible (over 3000 years ago) mentioned the mountains in the depths of the sea. Modern science discovered it in the past 200 years. He said the earth hung on nothing yet the hindus said it sat on a turtles back & science had no clue. 100's more examples where science lagged the Bible. It's easy to say it's completely wrong without backing it up. Archeology regularly confirms Biblical history most accurate of all. The firmament you are referring is before the great flood (which took science 1000's of years to concur), underground springs were the source of water, not rain. A fool is someone who knows the right thing to do but doesn't. Scripture says "a fool says in his heart there is no God". We're all fools sometimes. We just have to humbly admit it before we can seek God.

I suggest you read something by Kierkegaard, something smart and philosophical, not just some overrated Dawkins pseudo-literature.

Relax. I dont think dawkins is overrated. Hes just speaking out, which is very much needed in the atheist community. His book give a good logical argument of why believing is silly, I agree. people of belief speak out all the time saying all kinds crazy things. Hes a nice breath of fresh air even if hes harsh to peoples beliefs, no one ever cared about mine.

FYI Richard Dawkins is British. He also have shown his face in numberous programs so he's definately not hiding. My opinion is that "We don't know" but it's fine to not know instead of believing in fairytales. We're all born into this world in the same way and finally we die one way or another, so it's reasonable to believe that what happens after death will be the same for all of us regarless of faith, we just have to wait and see...We really don't have to label anyone, we're all human.

Support from across the atlantic. I'm so glad i live in a nation where the lack of religion is common, sadly becoming less common by the year as immigrants from less enlightened lands spread their faiths across the country, but we're more diverse than the US and a hell of a lot more tollerent of athiesm. It's amazing anyone has the balls to say they're an athiest in the US from what i hear about the way you're treated, but good luck spreading the lack of faith.

Well spoken. If you are an Atheist in the States people regard you as an outsider, its so sad I feel sick. I really agree with Dawkins on the point that false norms tell us not to criticise religious belief, giving it some super-tolerant-status. Im so happy that atheists finally stand up for themselves.

Tithes are voluntary, not always one percent and their only purpose in modern times is maintenance for churches and living expenses for priests. In Old Testament times they were taxes and thus mandatory.
If you were a member of say a club which uses a hall once a week or owns a property which it is often used by the club, it is not unreasonable to ask for voluntary donations for the maintenance of the properties or the hiring of a hall.

By Gods standard, which we can never reach, we ALL are not suited for heaven with God(thats why Jesus came to fix all of dat) Getting to heaven isnt by being good(even if it is a by-product of following GOd).You being good is cool..but wont save u from the hell u dont believe in. bUT THE REALITY IS..U MIGHT EVEN BE 'BETTER' THAN SOME CHRISTIANS OUT THERE(by your standards)..BUT, yes, they are still heaven bound(like it or not). hey man, I like your opposition, but please have a more open mind and try to see the real picture of what Richard Dawkins tries to get across. Morality can be justified without religion for various reasons, like evolution or.. you know.. so we don't all die! I'm sure anyone would have this viewpoint religious or not. But the strange thing is most Theists would say they would rape and murder if they weren't going to hell for it, after understanding such a statement, who is the moral one?
