Mixed feelings about Julian McMahon's version of Doom; they totally screwed up the origin story, and Doom is SUPPOSED to have a Germanic accent. But he did do a great job capturing Doom's arrogance and overconfidence, and he even brought a certain amount of wit to the character. Not bad, but could have been a lot better.
I don't know exactly when the transition took place that turned Spiderman into a 1000 toner, like in the movies, instead of a 1 toner like he was in 1990's comics and even cartoons, but it mostly happened since the mid-90's. Doom was only slightly his superior.
The movies Doom also has organic metal bones and skin.
The comics Doom is mostly a normal man, and relies heavily on technology to augment himself.
Actually, the movies version of Doom was ridiculously over-powered compared to the mid-1990's versions from comics and graphic novels.
There, the mid-90's version of Spider-Man, who was then consistently portrayed as only about a 1-toner super-being, was nearly evenly matched with Doom.
Whereas X-Men characters like Magneto, Jean Grey, and Rogue (with Ms. Marvel ability) have been portrayed as able to 1 vs an entire army since about the same time.

Very nice mingling of FF Annual #2 and "Books Of Doom". However, mixing in that "phony" movie Doom ruined the whole thing, as well as the Fantastic Four movie itself. What a waste.
I can honestly say that I'm still waiting for Dr. Doom to be immortalized in live action the way Darth Vader and Magneto have been, thanks to the superb acting chops of Sir Ian McKellen, James Earl Jones, and the most under appreciated actor on that totem, David Prowse.

@kilkolio I always kind of prefer how Doom's co-creator Jack Kirby imagined it, the irony being that Doom's face in that accident suffered nothing more than a scratch on his chin but he is such an ego-maniac and a perfectionist that he sees that little scratch as something that equals complete facial disfigurement and the destruction of his face, According to Kirby's take on Doom's "disfigurement" it's not that Doom is hiding his face from the world behind that mask, he's hiding it from himself.

the films did not do Doom justice, he's the most intelligent of all the Marvel villains (assuming to emit characters such as Galactus from the equation) he is the monarch of his own country and he doesn't have a super-power! @UFALLI Stan Lee once said that what makes a great powerful superhero is to defeat/go up against an even greater more powerful super villian and i agree. You just have to have a completely badass super villian if you don't then it'll be like watching Superman go up against ordinary henchmen (no challenge)

At the moment, I'm under the impression that Doom is the most personality inconsistent comic supervillain. He has been a completely heartless monster, a noble anti-villain more heroic than Reed Richards, and another in-between, apparently in part because writers can't agree on his personality.
Is there ever an explanation as to nobody invades Latvaria, I mean Doom must have committed dozens of actions that would qualify as acts of war.
@Markel1970A Well, it all really builds on what was shown in Fantastic Four Annual #2. For example, his origin as it's told in Fantastic Four #278 does show some things that weren't shown in the annual, but the events still line up, and some panels are practically just redrawn straight from the original book.
All in all, Doctor Doom is my all time favorite villain, and I've actually been working on my own video depicting his origins, focusing on what was stated in the two books I mentioned.

Heroes and villains alike fear the very mention of his name and the gods themselves are made to kneel before him. He conquered the world and then relinquished control because he grew bored. Interesting blend of old and new comics for the montage, but the voice needs serious work - the monotone sounds like a very awkward first reading of the materials, and that's enough to cancel out any of the merits this video may other have had. Re-record this with someone who sounds like they actually care and it would be an interesting resource.

an liberator of his nation and a successful saviour of the world in times of crisis, although he never gets his due respect, reminds me of skeletor, badass, but deep inside he cares a whole lot more than he shows.

the films did not do Doom justice, he's the most intelligent of all the Marvel villains (assuming to emit characters such as Galactus from the equation) he is the monarch of his own country and he doesn't have a super-power! I do however think the comics went wrong when they made him interested in magic, I always liked Doom as a scientist, the anti-Reed Richards

@Gunganfan Because he isn't a mirror image, I would be more inclined to agree with you if there was no element of science in Dr. Doom and he was purley magic based like say Dr. Strange, but Doom was always just a brilliant scientist who used his mind for evil as opposed to Reed who used it for good.

It's interesting that if you were to only watch the first minute and a half of this video Doom would actually seem like a protagonist.

@UFALLI Stan Lee once said that what makes a great powerful superhero is to defeat/go up against an even greater more powerful super villian and i agree. You just have to have a completely badass super villian if you don't then it'll be like watching Superman go up against ordinary henchmen (no challenge)

At the moment, I'm under the impression that Doom is the most personality inconsistent comic supervillain. He has been a completely heartless monster, a noble anti-villain more heroic than Reed Richards, and another in-between, apparently in part because writers can't agree on his personality.
Is there ever an explanation as to nobody invades Latvaria, I mean Doom must have committed dozens of actions that would qualify as acts of war.

@Markel1970A Well, it all really builds on what was shown in Fantastic Four Annual #2. For example, his origin as it's told in Fantastic Four #278 does show some things that weren't shown in the annual, but the events still line up, and some panels are practically just redrawn straight from the original book.
All in all, Doctor Doom is my all time favorite villain, and I've actually been working on my own video depicting his origins, focusing on what was stated in the two books I mentioned.

Interesting blend of old and new comics for the montage, but the voice needs serious work - the monotone sounds like a very awkward first reading of the materials, and that's enough to cancel out any of the merits this video may other have had. Re-record this with someone who sounds like they actually care and it would be an interesting resource.

The Movie didn´t even Follow Dooms Orgin, Strangley every Movie those that, X-Men for Example first when it was Aired a good and Well made Comic book based Movie on the X-Men, X-Men 2 was meh and there where the First Few Holes, Why Stryker and not Professor Hudson?, Why is lady DeathStrike not on Revenge with Wolverine, X-Men 3 was Okay it had some Confusing Moments, but it was Okay, and now to the Biggest Piece of Monkey Crap X-Men Orgins didn´t followed Logans Orgin at all.

@mrknopper because it has to be well funded to be over an hour long, which is a challenge to fit the beginning of a legacy in an hour. Also the challenge is having a director who dosen't seek to make the movie only for...juvenile purposes.
