And you know this because you've known him personally for years, grew up with him, etc? Or do you base this opinion on just because, or that someone else said so somewhere?
@jdumars No I didn't man, but I just think that Billy had a better strategy. He was a lot more successful, somewhat humorous, and most importantly, sold his products in a more interesting way. I just think Sully doesn't do it correctly. Search "Mighty Tape" and you'll be surprised.
Ask for "fusion tape" or "electrical fusion tape." Some people call it "silicone tape," because that is what it is, "silicone electrical tape."
Hardware stores carry it because it's considered an essential item in an electrical contractor's tool box. Home depot has it too, for cheap. Even eBay has it for dirt cheap.
At a hardware store look in the electrical department, or ask!
By the way, the "F" in F4 tape meaning "fusion" was a misnomer adopted by civilians.
"F4" actually refers to the "F4 Phantom" fighter jet. "F4 Tape" was the unofficial name given to a self-bonding (fusing) rubber tape used by the military and was nicknamed F-4 Tape due to its extensive use on the F-4 Phantom fighter jet.
While designated a high-temperature, high-performance electrical tape, aircraft mechanics discovered its amazing ability to repair F4 Phantom hydraulic hoses, etc.
This product is nothing new, Google "F4 tape" (the "F" standing for fusion.") Aircraft mechanics have used it for years.
Note that this cannot be used to repair tears or rips on flat surfaces. This is because the product works by fusing ("melting") to itself.
Don't want to take my word for it? Well notice that in the video all repairs or uses are with the tape being wrapped around objects. If you cannot wrap the tape around itself, a couple times is best, it will not work.
I can not believe these assholes are recommending that you repair broken electrical cords by wrapping tape around it! They don't even separate the wires, they just blindly start wrapping tape around cords that might have both sides broken, this can cause shorts and fires. This commercial should be banned from tv.
@christo930 Sorry, you are wrong about the tape not being good for electrical repairs. While wrapping the wires is not done correctly in this video, this tape is actually an electrical tape first, a handy fix all tape second.
The tape got its start in the military as an electrical tape, nicknamed "F4 Tape" due to its ability to repair other things besides electrical devices, such as cords.
In fact, this kind of tape to pass minimum specs for electrical uses must insulate 8000 volts!
@HeartInSanFrancisco I found out about the f4 tape on the same day I made that post, so if done correctly, it would work. My point though is valid. They are not doing it right. You can't just wrap tape around a broken cord, you must isolate the individual wires and wrap them individually. Only after each individual wire is repaired can you then wrap up the whole thing.
@christo930 Why would put a cast on a broken leg or arm? Trees are able to heal the same way humans do. Obviously, you would need more support then just the tape.
@xxhaimbondxx I have never in my life heard of a tree "healing" broken branches. It does sound like an interesting experiment though. Break a branch but not enough so that it breaks completely off and tape it up and see if it "heals". I doubt it will. Have you ever heard of this happening? Any cases you can point to? If so, it really does sound interesting.... But I doubt it.
@christo930@christo930 you seriously think there is a documented case about something like this? People are too self involved to patch up a tree. They rather cut it and throw it out since the common mentality is "there are many more where it came from".
Here is something that you might find interesting: Search "How To Repair a Japanese Maple Damaged By a Storm" on YouTube. Answers all your questions right there.

You can get this stuff for a lot cheaper online.
But want it now? Go to your local hardware store.
Ask for "fusion tape" or "electrical fusion tape." Some people call it "silicone tape," because that is what it is, "silicone electrical tape."
