This is an unfair comparison. It is almost like comparing a top-class car built in 1970 to one that was built in 2006. The 2006 car would be better, but in large part because it took some of the technology from the 1970 car. Both goals are fantastic. The Brazil goal wins for me on the basis that their opposition were Italy, a brilliant team, whereas Serbia were (and I assume still are) rubbish. A great goal against a great team is always going to be better than a great goal against shite.

While the actual strike(gol) from alberto is simply amazing(bending the ball in the way he did, the teamwork from Argentina in this particular gol is amazing. Overall though you would be pretty delusional to compare this argentinian team to the dynasty of brasil during the 70's. zico, carlos alberto, pele, leonardo the list goes on. I must say though I was in shock when Argentina lost against germany although the reasons(riquelme having a bad game, messi and tevez not starting) were clear.

i have to agree with you Diego, two different eras brazil was a force to be wreckened with in th 70s & 80s, however football have advanced sinc then, the reason why argentina didnt won 06 world cup (which they should have in my opinion) was due to very bad managing, messi & teves should have started and requelme should stayed even tho he had a bad game because as soon he left they concieved a goal. How can anyone justify the Brazilian goal to be better? It was boring, the Italians didn't even run which just proves how much game speed has changed. The Argentine goal had a little bit of everything, and at that time Serbia and Montenegro had one of the most feared defenses in the world allowing only 1 goal in all of the european qualifiers. Brazils goal was more important, but Argentina's was by far executed better and had more technique.

Actually Serbia was considered one of the greatest teams of World Cup 2006. I don't think it was slow, the defence just didn't do anything about it. Brazil made this goal in 1974 as we all know there wasn't much competition as it is now and Argentina made it recently so in my eyes Argentina's is better but Carlos Alberto was pretty fucking good in this Brazil goal.
