  • I think most people are a mix. It also depends on the crowd your with. Of course you feel drained if your just with someone who takes your energy and doesn't respond but someone who fires energy back at you can charge you up too.

  • I always thought introvert was quiet in a group of people and extrovert is chatty in a group of people. I could be over simplifying but that's what I think.

  • Well yes, we are all mixtures of two opposing things, we are never completely introverted or completely extroverted. It's good to have a healthy balance.

  • I just have to say I love the flow of your vlogs, it's like reading an interesting essay that always ends so eloquently.

    Good luck with Nano!

  • @lostismyconstent Thank you so much! That's very encouraging to hear. :D

  • I hate that so many of my friends are doing NaNoWriMo. It's incredibly tempting to attempt it once again. STOP TEMPTING ME

  • @orangesho13es temptemptemptemptempt.

  • hahahahhahha by 'this vlog' you mean the one you're rerecording here.

I like that you've concluded in things that aren't so black and white. <3!!

    bahaha introvert news.

  • @ChateauOfADoubt Hahaha yes, as in, "this one that I'm showing you a clip of that is SO horrible but yet it was on the same topic"

  • I lolled an inordinate amount at the lighting-less Vegas moment.

  • @raidonthestadiar WHY AM I SUCH A DARK MAN, TOM?!

  • WOOT NANOWRIMO!! I'm using the competitive aspect as well this year, but I'm competing against myself... does that make sense? I hope so. =)

  • Many people seem to think that people are either Extraverts or Introverts, but it's not that simple. They're on a continuum. In other words, you can be a certain amount of extravert AND introvert. So the thought that there are two classifications is incorrect and people have misunderstood this unfortunately. You're not either or, you're a bit of both but some people are more of on than the other.

  • For most of this video, there was a comment building in my head. Then at 2:50, you said it for me.

  • balance is important!

let's live in the same place so we can IRL and URL adventure!

  • Las Vegas is 4 hours from Sharayah. You should've taken a road trip ;) I consider myself half and half. I think it depends on the comfortability I possess at the time. I try to be more outgoing, but I'm finding that I am more outgoing under pressure. Sharayah is doing #NaNoWriMo RIGHT NOW! :D

  • Oh yeah, one of the girls I'm buddies with now has 12k. Just... Wow. I don't know if she's slept in the past 24 hours. I have almost 5k at the moment.

And yeah, I told my mom that it'd need SEVERE editing b/c she was like, "Read your story to us!" Ugh. LOL!

  • @elizziebooks I totally shy away from the question of "Can I read your story?!" from my IRL friends. They obviously don't know how much editing will need to go into these hastely written stories.

  • @emmfan09 Even with URL friends i'm kind of iffy. I had to say that it needs a LOT of work. My novel needs a lot of restructuring and just... I'll probably re-write a majority of it.

  • I feel like I'm the same way as you are. I need a balance of both. Not at once, but I need time as an introvert and time as an extrovert. :]

  • Ryan I will destroy you in the nanowrimo!!! You're going doooooown!

  • I totally just read an article about this in Psychology Today. The difference between being shy and being an introvert is that shy people, like extroverts, crave interaction, but are anxious or nervous in social situations, while introverts prefer solitude. Most people aren't extreme introverts or extroverts, but fall somewhere on a scale between the two.

Also, I don't casually read Psychology Today. I happened upon the article while doing research at my internship.

  • @rebexington Hahaha, luckily the comment right below yours linked me to an article that sort of same thing. I'd argue that I'm one of those shy-until-I-get-to-know-you-then-totally-obnoxious people.

  • Basically, an introvert feels drained by being around and interacting with people (both in person and online or on the phone), while extroverts feel energized and excited by interacting with people. It sounds like in both situations, you love to interact: both hanging out with friends and Skyping with friends. Another way to think about it is whether you need alone time to recharge after being with people, or the opposite.

Interesting, short article here: dft.ba / - introvert

  • @shessomickey Amanda, thank you for a link to the column. What you said and what the article supported defined a definition Paige told me a while ago when I first expressed confusion for the words. I sort of get this, and I would have to say that I am still confused as to whether I am one or the other. Doesn't being alone and enjoying some social interaction count as introversion? It might not.

  • @emmfan09 The terms do not suggest some sort of binary! It's certainly possible to feel both things, to prefer one or the other depending on the day, or to shift many times over one's life. It is sometimes helpful to consider these words in respect to oneself, and sometimes unnecessary. No worries!

  • Uh, YES. I completely agree. This is so me!

  • The worst part about nanowrimo so far for me is writing something I know is awful.

  • @thewalruswasdave I like to tell myself that this is just practice. Every day I can, I try to refer to MJ's you-gotta-suck-to-get-better theory.

  • I think it's more of a scale than a polarization. You're not simply one or the other, but a mix of the two. For example, I am more outgoing than some of my friends but in some situations am scared to death of talking to new people.

  • If I'm still in the mood later, I may make a video response. More likely, however, I will just come back and leave a more elaborate comment on my thoughts. For now I leave you with this: I like you. Make videos more.

  • @coralinehope HOW'S YO MOOD TODAY?!?!

(make a response do it do it DO IT COMMANDETH CARADOC)

  • @coralinehope This is an inspiring comment. :D
