I dont think the conductor had a problem w/ you filming the train, it's true though that some people don't want to be in the videos. Best bet is to film the train pulling in and then leaving.

We waved from the car window and the conductor waved back and gave a long friendly blow on the horn has it sped up and dashed under a bridge.

What a dumbass. I despise these asshole conductors that think that they can make up these BS rules and then expect everyone to follow them. No matter what they say, filming trains is legal, and I even got a letter from NJT saying just that. It also said that permits are not required unless you are making money off of the videos.
