I am a fairly logical thinker. I usually discredit and disapprove of fantastical thinking. I am very scientific with how I evaluate life. I am very concerned with accuracy and proper analysis.
However, this song.
Despite how darn sure I am. Despite how much data or evidence there is for there being nothing supernatural or outrageously unexplainable in our reality. This song has an enchancting effect that brings the child out of me. And for one fleeting moment, anything is possible.
Songs like this make you realize how pitiful and small our existence as a human specie is, and how worked up we become, floating through space, trading paper money for peoples lives, starvation, misery, disease, we're like ants all scrambling to gobble up resources , polluting the planet and overpopulating, At least some things will never change, Good music is good music, period.
Here's what happened to me when i listened to this one day ... I kept my eyes close the entire time and i got these crazy chills almost the whole time. my body was facing the wall as i was laying down and i felt something moving towards me, very slow but closely. I couldnt take it it so i opened my eyes. but while my eyes were close all i could see was a very bright sky with like an ocean and sand
@dooVoob,What's the point? A middle aged suburban married man is going to a midlife crisis, tries to sleep with his daughter's friend, the stupid plastic bag floating around, the wife is sexually desperate that she sleeps around, their weirdo neighbor has a stupid camera and filming bullshit and has a gung-ho father who's gay in denial?
@98bigbutt My friend life is full of problems. While we focus on ourselves and desires, we forget to appreciate the closest people to us. We are willing to cheat, slander and condemn other people as long as we fulfill our most egoistic desires but life ends and we realize when it is too late what really was important. The movie has a deep message and at the same time it shows how small a person's life really is on the big scale of the universe.
@98bigbutt I feel it's a movie about the absurd hindrances we have about who we are. I feel it's a movie about social persecution, witchburning, and how these dangerous social sentiments make us lead unhappy lives. The portrayal of these events is easy on the mind...easy for someone to see without being frightened. That's my impression from long ago, anyway. If you'd like me to describe why I feel a movie as described above is important, I could do that for you.
To me, this song is the epitome of beauty. If I could share but just a few minutes of this music with every soul, it would be worth it. A piece of music that can make wash away your troubles or your heartaches for a few , just a few short minutes. This is what Thomas Newman does for me.
i wish i could leave this world, just turn off reality and enter my own, where im not flawed, not hurt, or not different, where i can run with my heroes and fight with them, where i could have a thousands friends and more, i could live my greatest dreams and fight my worst nightmares, but sadly this is only the real world, and im just me
This was also the song played in the movie "Phenomenon" during the scene where John Travolta was watching the trees sway in the breeze. This is an amazingly beautiful song that brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
i have heard the same chords of the beginning of this song in somewhere else... anyone knows if this is inspired by some other piece? or if there are some other pieces inspired by this one??
@londondillon ....look in the description i was telling. And I Hexagonmaster about the Alfred Newman thing...and because Alfred Newman is Thomas' dad...
yeah we did the movie in english, and at first when the guy was talking about the dancing bag i had no clue what he was on about but really now i understand completely!

I think it was this tune that made the movie great and not the other way round.
I also love the Road To Perdition theme tune.

Nah, the film and this music complimented eachother brilliantly.
Each gives context to the other and now it is hard for me not to imagine the "dancing" shopping bag when I hear this...
Poigniantly beautiful.
