some plants are great at removing excess nutrients, why not add some to add some redundancy to the filters? i mean, the light is there, why waste it if you can use it to remove nutrients and make oxygen, and not have big losses if something goes wrong with the bacteria in the filter, or oxygen supply.
just use plants you can move around easily on the ground of the aquarium, so that you can still easily clean it.

@Timd2468 ou can't keep discus with only 1. its a group fish with atleast 5 members. they need 50L more eats so atleast 250 but this is netto.
