I just happened to look up this song because we are singing it in church this month. I saw a recording of you playing this 2 years ago and wondered it you had ever taught it... Perfect timing! The Lord ALWAYS through at the right time!
Exceptional instruction. THIS is the way that I learned as well. Keeping the melody on top for the most part of the song helps others' ears to identify what song is being played and helps chorale members to find their parts. I don't usually like it when the melody is lost with a whole lot of flash and fanfare!
Hi Mr Sam, sometimes you play the melody in chords and other times you play part of the melody in single notes. How does one know when to play single notes and when it should be chords? I have a hard time mixing these two together. Is there a rule to follow?
yes, I gave the demonstartion where you learn the meldoy first....then the chords around the melody...then the bass pattern. Like a three layer cake you add them all together using melody line as your guide. I practice if though I'm a soloist/choir and musician giving me options on how I want to sound.
