I have never had a fear of the dentist, but I do understand why some people would, with having all of those tools being so close to your head! I just had a tooth pulled today, and with the exception of the slight pinch felt from the numbing medication going in, it did not hurt. Just a lot of pressure when the Dr pulled the tooth.
I had 2 rotted teeth pulled yesterday had 3 injections didnt feel a thing. and I had a dental phobia until then it didnt bother me at all just slight pain after the numbness wore off.

OMG! It doesn't even hurt when they pull the teeth out! It feels weird afterwards cause ur missing some teeth but that's it! It DOES feel like a tug! Those who r SOO scared to get their teeth taken out, DON'T BE! It's not bad at all! My 4 teeth r taken out and I FEEL FINE! Just take some Morton ahead of the appt. Then it'll hurt less when they numb ur gums. Btw numbing is the only part that is a bit painful. Good luck to those who r getting their teeth pulled out!
I have to have a tooth pulled on Friday and I am absolutely terrified. I'm not really sure if I should have watched this or not, as I am feeling the urge to call the dentist as we speak and cancel. Ugh.
Oh my, you have a larger bone structure, you would have looked better long term with an expander vs extraction orthodontics, not only is it painful, it doesn't look as good as you age, please see my video for what it did to me, best of luck, Carrie
I also have a phobia, I went to a dentist collage near glasgow for my teeth to be fixed...Now what i found was that it's open planned (booths) with other patients next to me.
It also has 4 experienced dentists on hand to assist the pupils, so i feel safe. But the pupils are first class in dealing with phobias.
Shots arnt bad unless they are on the front gums I've had like over 30 shots in the last 7 years and I could fall asleep while getting a cavity feeld but teeth being pulled is what scares me
Little kids don't understand your baby teeth are painless and easy to get pulled but permanent teeth can be a different story
Hi, I know exactly where you are coming from. I am also a dental phobic and am due to have an abcessed tooth pulled in a few weeks. I am being sent to a specialist dentist who will sedate me before it is extracted. From what I hear the drugs are amazing! Still nervous tho!

@Becie1997 hasn't happened yet. the dentist is waiting to see if my teeth will straighten with all the crowding before they turn to extraction.. i hope they wont have to. i had to wait so long for my braces that at this point i just want my teeth straight and if they have to pull out teeth to do that i dont care haha. but i hope everything goes well for you! just think about how much you want straight teeth and im sure it wont hurt! i hear the only thing you feel is a small tug :) good luck!

Good job!!! I am a huge baby about dental work, even cleanings, I have soft enamel and sensitive teeth and I hate it! But I had a molar pulled on lower right side today and did ok. Awake, with just novacaine. Had to go to an oral surgeon but he was very nice, got the tooth out fairly quickly and talked me through it with his 2 wonderful assistants. Now maybe I can get to feeling better...had a cracked tooth down to the root that had abscessed and was causing me pain, and ear pain. ;(

i once had a tooth removed with very little drugs and flet it at age 7 and over came my fear and had 2 more teeth extracted later on and 6 crowns/caps and a spacer
Just had 5 extractions done yesterday and honestly the pre-extraction anxiety was the worst part. Could have had sedation, but opted not to. An anti-anxiety medication prior to the procedure can help the fear a LOT. Sometimes even just a Benadryl or two helps. Also, taking Motrin before the procedure can help--it'll be in your system already when the numb wears off.
Had an abscessed molar pulled. Not too far to save it but I thought getting it pulled by a crappy dentist was better than a root canal by one. It was very painful compared to this. Ibuprofen only. :'(

wow forget my comment about being scared that did not hurt at all saying that the dentist was the best in the company he just numbed my mouth with two needles which honestly feel like you poked yourself with a toothpick then he left for a while came back and just ripped the tooth out the pressure isnt very nice but its the easiest part of the extraction what happend in this video never happend to me :) the numbness is horrible though :/
im having one of my molars extracted today im quite scared, not of the pain its just the sounds and being on that thing with a sheet pulled over me, I think that ill be able to do it as long as its done quickly but i will be terrified most of the way through, hopefully the anethetic will work well and it will be all done and dusted quickly :-)

The endodontist tried to do my root canal today, but my molar roots were too calcified. She said that I needed to have an apicoectomy. After observing this procedure on youtube, it looks terrible and disgusting and Id rather have my damn tooth pulled than go through that!! Also, the roots are abcessed. I am terrified of dentists and dental procedures, too. This has been my ongoing nightmare.
i went today i am 13 yrs old i was cared to death and the lady put the stuff on the Q tip made me hold it at the V part of my mouth and she came bk in about 5 min utes gave me the shot, kept my eyes clsoed and we talked about thanksgiving food while she was giving me the shot my reaponces was thumbs up and thumbs down but the point is it did not hurt a bit i felt it but it wasn't like pain it was feeling it in there so dont be afraid, if u are tell your denust ur nervous adn to be gentle :)

Tell your dentist that you are nervous, they will understand and be more gentle, tell you what they are going to do. Another thing I recommend is " happy" gas. It helps SO much.

yeah laghing ga jut keeps u calm for the novocaine shot and the shot does not hurt at al believe my i hav about 10 shots all together and you only feel a pinch
Pluten, I have a mouth full of dental work-all needs replacing or to be finished. & new things to be done. My current dentist prefers to work with me rather than drug me up, which is astounding to me. I have very soft teeth & soft teeth+dentist phobia=lots of work. I'm trying to overcome my fears w/ self hynosis & meditation. My dentist is great & actually knows a few tricks to keep me calm, psychologically. This video is just part 1 of many; it's going to be a series.

My Regular dentist was big man with big hands and I didn't mind him working in my mouth. He could quickly pull teeth and I wasn't scared
The noodle armed geek that pulled the last tooth caused me a lot of pain. He fought with the tooth for 30 minuts and ended up breakling it in pieces.
never get a dentist with danty hands to pull teeth!!!!!
