The palace looks like some kind of small British town with all those windows and the small buildings at the top. Makes you wonder where *SPOILER* Ashelin has her living quarters. This is my favourite part of the game.

I just realized the baron battles are like robotnik/eggman/whatever boss fights in sonic games. he always attacks in a cockpit with various weapon attachments, then when you defeat him, the attachments are destroyed and he escapes in the cockpit.
