  • I have the LP, the cassette, and finally in 1991 I got the cd Love it asmuch noe as I did over 20 years ago

  • great album

    rip Ronnie Lane

  • one of the best best best rock songs ever

  • Is this some form of Christian rock or something?

  • What a dandy ol' tune

  • townsend could sing the telephone book and make it sound good dont know how he does it .

  • I had rough mix about a million years ago, but remember a different album cover. Brilliant, emotional song by the way.

  • Loved this song straight away after my very first listening ...

( I'd love to make some quotes on the lyrics ... but I'd only make a fool of myself )

  • @123ThisIsMe

Oh come on love. Don't be such a sod. LOL!

"Keep me turnin.' Stop me yearnin'." (Keep turnin' me on.)

"Keep me turnin,' turnin' turnin' turnin', turrrnin.'"

There, did I come close. Ha! Think I'm already aware of your answer, but I hear it what I wrote, and have heard it from the first day I heard this album.

"My Baby Gives It Away," is much more obviousLOL!

  • @HerFieldDay

Had a yearning for what keeps me turning,,and so here I am.

Your words has me wearing a huge smile.

I suppose we'll keep turning, 'until the very last.'

    Peace.

  • Since I first heard some songs from this album, I started to imagine what the Who would be like if they brought in Ronnie as a second guitarist/vocalist, as well as secondary songwriter. No offense to the rest of the Who, but they weren't very good songwriters, and by the late 70s, John Entwistle's spark as a writer of black humour was dried out. The Who is still my favorite band.

  • just great music

  • O YES. The trick is to walk in backwards. What power and grace combined. Such a great blend of voices and styles. Funny, I think this is sublime Townshend. At least the equal of much Who and other solo stuff. Turning people on to this LP is both a great privilege and a great thrill.

  • Get the audio from this tune at thetunify doht cohm.

  • Pete magic, Ronnie magicer, together absolute MAGIC,,, Brilliant stuff, this should be in everyones collection, Must go to listen again.

  • Thumbs up if you want to naw Eddie Vedder's eyeball's out of his skull with your thumbs.

  • Have been listening to this album for over 30 years ...... still as fresh as the first time ... beautiful songs .......... cheers Pete .... RIP Ronnie.

  • This is music!!!

  • I heard this cut on WEBN FM in Cincinnati , ran out and bought the album that day. This music was and is a bright spot.

  • @jmon73 Whoaaaaaa. This is too cool. Heard it on 'EBN ((The Frog)) too, while living in Walnut Hills.

Had to have it. Too many people don't know about this treasure.

Does the '73 have anything to do with your high school graduating year, since we're both 56?

    Keep on turnin'.

    Peace.

  • @rockinroller7 Princeton 73' you got it !

  • who said rock had no glory and the 68ers were all a decadent bunch of rothschild financed drugged maniacs? heres the proof that that age brought forth tremendous quality, too

  • Thanks a mill. One of the best songs ever.

  • @adennehy , this has one of the most delicate and moving acoustic guitar soli ever

  • I can remember the release of this album like it was yesterday. It is just as beautiful to me now as it was then. So many great memories.

  • I often wish I was around when thtis was released, but at least I can be one of my generation to love ronnie lane and townshend!

  • I love this song so much, I get high on it when I hear it. My brother Bill had the vinyls for rough mix and empty glass. Between us, I think we wore out some 6 copies on metal cassette. Pete is directly responsible for the years I spent improving my guitar skills. Back in 1978 I played with my brother in a local band called "The Best", and for 5 years, we never played a set that didn't include Keep Me Turning, or "Put The Money Down". -much more to say but not enought characters left.....

  • @DrBuggles1

No matter, you are here now.

I was in my 30's or near it (I think,Ha!) when I first heard this. Pete did so much away from the "Band," on his own and to hear him do this album with Ronnie Lane (see "Small Faces if you haven't) knowing that you and more from your generation will listen to all of it will, "Keep Me Turning."

I know that sounds corny, but one thing about we old "Heads," is that we do feed off younger blokes as yourself, keeping this music moving.

    Peace.

  • @DrBuggles1 I was 17 when this came out, and it quickly became an all-time favorite. It still is. I wore out my cassette copy years ago, but when the CD became available, I snapped it up right away. Glad to see there's much Rough Mix love on YouTube

  • Thanks a million for posting this great music........ glad I bumped into this, had this album along with hundreds of others, sure wish I never sold them all when I was younger, like kids with video games these days, I would buy up these great albums like this gem. Peaches Records with Sid's made money off of me!

  • I think my dad has this on Vinyl:')

  • i have it and i was born in 1969 great album

  • one of my favorite pete songs. love it! mmmmm memories from when i was 16.. remember i was born 87! he is my hero!

  • So soon before Keith passed on, and had already lost most of his panache, Henry Spinetti shines on this tune.

Excellently produced. rewards loud volume, which is to how to ultimately judge records of that milieu.

"O Jack are you ever you ever coming back" are lyrics that leave me still in ambiguous clouds but nonetheless evoke admiration for their uncomromising declaration of whatever dire possibility they suggest.

  • wit

  • Just a jewel of an album.

  • Everyone once is a while, Pete can be quite spiritual in his lyrics. This album, which I only have in vinyl and haven't listen to in years, is a jewel that received a little air play, but never got the recognition it deserved IMO.

  • seconded

  • I think that Pete and Ronnie shared the same spiritual guru, Meher Baba at the time, hence the connection

  • i bought this lp when it was released - great song, great memories.

  • me too

    what a gem

  • and so did i my man,,,,I love pete as much as i love Michael whom I grew up a mere 10 miles from! I honour pete evrey bit as much as i do Michael,,I just hope Pete dont die any time soon!

  • Thanks for posting this. Brilliant song. I had forgotten what a classic we had here. Must be years since I last heard this.

  • This is an underrated Townshend Classic

  • and yes i agree

  • This has to be one of the greatest songs ever. I hadn't heard it in maybe twenty five years and I remembered every word. Brought tears to my eyes.

  • one of the greatest songs he has written

  • thanks for posting

    great track

    great album

  • I treasure anything with Ronnie Lane and Ronnie's presence seemed to lighten up Pete, whose songs on this were also gems.

  • great song

  • Masterpiece.

  • Man, this sounds awesome. I thought I was a big Who fan, but I was not even aware of this album. Thank you.

  • Great album
