Hi James great vid! Is it possible to use an iPad docked onto Alesis IO docking station to run Magic Q and control the PC Wing. How would the connections be, if you mind helping out with this. I am very green yet :-)
Good day! I am Brazilian and I'm starting to use the software MagicQ Chamsys. Here in Brazil, this software is still not widely known, and therefore all the information I have, are acquired only through the Internet by people of other countries. I would greatly appreciate your help me clarify a doubt. The magicQ accepts some sort of MIDI controller such as control BCF 2000? thanks
@thiagolightmartins Hello! I think you can control the Chamsys software using a MIDI controller when connected with a Chamsys MIDI adaptor - this would allow you to control chases and faders using the BCF 2000 or a similar device. The adaptor is the '0300-0005 MagicQ USB MIDI and Timecode Interface' - there is a lot more information about this on the Chamsys website. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching the video. James.
@samDOESsongs I'm using one of those fancy SONY touchscreens (that's showbiz!) VPCL13S1E, - its only dual core though, but a whopping 8GB of memory - which is of course totally necessary for running Chamsys... Obviously because its really heavy I don't take it out anywhere, we use a fairly modest laptop for running it at events. NEW VIDEO coming very soon with quite possibly the best light show we've ever done since the last one.
Thanks very much and thats fine don't worry about it for the moment, I just was intrested if it would work with the vellemen box becuase the lumidesk box costs alot of money and I did't know weather there was any point in buying it if it would work on the vellemen one, if you do get the chance to try it when you get your velleman box back it would be intresting to see but don't worry if you don't have time.
I would also recommend a software called Lumidesk, It is really simple to use as well and has a 3D visual image of the lights working on the laptop so you can pre program your lights on your laptop without having to use the real lights because it is pre shown on the 3D software, Would you be able to download it and show me if it works with the vellman usb to dmx box?
@mrtechmandan Hi Dan - Looks like nice and easy software to use - I've downloaded it but it wants to connect to an interface as it loads up...mine's being used for a production so i don't have it at the moment!
There's no mention of it only being able to work with their interface - I can try it in about two weeks time if you want me to - I'm quite confident it will work, just install the velleman box first and then install this new software. Sorry I can't be much help at the moment. James
@BadBoriBoy unfortunately it doesn't have a visualizer because it's basically supposed to run on the touch screen of a lighting desk - all the various screen buttons are normally operated using the desk - its just the company give the software away for free - so its basically for recording and playback only, with no 3D view. james.
@djz2005 - this one was programmed as a series of timings - the software can run from the line-in or mic socket on your computer though and switch chases that way if you wanted - or you could just set up a set of chases to run in a loop for use at a disco or something. james.
love it , just a bit confused as to how to use it :| , any chance of a tutorial ? as its confusing me xD , still cant get it to work with the vellerman thing XD
Thank you, this video is really useful.
I'm fairly new to the Chamsys boards and you have made my learning process much easier.
Just wondering: Do you know how to control Haze machines on the board?

Good programming mate, is it possible you could quickly list the lights that you've used?

@woodie0101 Thanks! - er let me see how many I can remember:
- 6 GENI mojo scan 1s (3 at front, 3 behind)
- 2 GENI mojo scan 3s (at back either side - rotating gobos)
- 4 SOUNDLAB vicosas (multi-beam white lights in a line at the back)
- 16 PAR 56s on 4 DMX dimmers
- and 4 400W blinders that we built out of old light sequencers!
I think that was everything!

Does Q Magic have a visualizer that you can play around with w/o having the interface, or any fixtures hooked up???
