I loved this film when I finally saw it. I loved the imagery, the surreal feeling to it. This is one of my favorite scenes. Another is the silly boy meeting the devil in the car and boldly putting on the ointment from the jar which he was given of which he knew nothing about.
This is a wonderful book to read,I got my copy when I was 15 from the Virago Women's Press. (is it still going?the icon on the side was of a little flat iron),,a feminist joke, Angela Carter;s books are so full of wonderful rich imagery+of course sexual symbolism, maybe a waring for young women...I should have taken heed,,,,..i stll have all those Carter+Attwood books, still in perfect condition+inspiration behind quite a few drawings of my own over time,,cheers for sharing this
anyone else think that tent was too pink for that time period? especially if it was supposed to be from a long time before the move...... hmmm................
I'd love to be one of the guests too, and do the bride after we'd transformed. She is one beautiful girl, as is the witch. She will be in my beastly dreams tonight!
I remember watching this movie late at night in the early days of cable on either Cinemax or HBO. Back when they had the big bulky black n brown clicker box remote with a cable attached to it feeding back to the cable box itself. I've told people about this movie and no one had ever heard of it. Good stuff.

I didn't notice the peacock before. Poor creature almost got trampled. Seriously, this is one of the best parts of the film, I love it.
I never stop grinning at how the servants keep playing the instraments and serving the food the whole time. Also the ending with her forcing the wolves to seranade her baby every night was pretty clever.
Anyone else find it funny that the band keep playing even when they're all changing into werewolves :D

There are at least two Swedish legends like this.
In one are a group of people, (bride, bridegroom and priest and guest) on their way to the wedding when a witch turn them into wolves.
The other is about a Sámi that asks for food at a wedding, but is chased away. He get his revenge by turning the guests to wolves.
In both stories do one person return to normal. In the first case the priest, in the second a man who for some reason keeps his wolf tail.
