  • Cole Trickle in the car forty-two thought it was the fifty-one Rody burns

  • @jeffgardens Bobby Hillin was driving the #42. The Mello Yello sponsorship came from the movie.

  • Hut was strong in that Allison Buick....

  • i sure do miss the good old days of nascar

  • Sound is broken

  • the only good things that had came about in nascar since dale's death, the safer barrier, the hans device (even though the hans device ruins how you drive, I still like it for safety) and Brad Kesolowski.

  • Ernie Irvan... smh...

  • Swervin Irvin does it YET again!i think there are about 20 you tube videos of irvin wrecking people

  • Lapped cars racing too hard with each other, sound familiar? 2009 Daytona 500? Dale Jr and Brian Vickers? Hmmmmm????

  • @RyDogRidesTheBus While the train of thought could be similar, comparing that crash to this one is like comparing apples to oranges. Especially since this wreck happened off the turn, which doesn't ever happen here.

  • Nascar sucks now, these were the best days of racing

  • EE was dangerous on the track!!

  • Geez, you could see it coming, Earnhardt got owned in that one. Petty got some big air. Just caused by careless driving.

  • hut could have won

  • Massive damage.

  • Hut was a good race driver

  • I miss Hut

  • did they not know they were on the air or what? after the commercial

  • @MSTmike3k they actually were in commercial, the version i have here is the straight satellite feed where you see whats happening during commercials

  • @battalionfan888 And you were able to get this in the 90's?

  • Darrell hit that pit wall really hard.

  • Lapped car racing against the leader fail. Hut Strickland should not have tried to pinch the leader off coming thru turn 3 like that. He comes down part of a lane and gets turned for it.

  • Stricklin was racing for the lead.

Sterling Marlin was a lap down

  • listen to the cheers when Earnhardt decided to drive backwards to get onto pit road. Miss the glory years, wait, I mean the no glory years.

  • Haha, Stricklin actually got out of there OK

  • Wow Hut Strick didn't hit anything.

  • Richard Petty Almost Flipped Over!!!!!

  • 1:02 Hahaha... Earnhardt going backwards, but smart... O I miss him racing these days.

  • hut stricklin was a great driver who was the victim of bad timing in some of his rides. He had the ability to win races

  • wheres the part where the caution comes out for the chickens?

  • that happened in the June race, the Champion Spark Plug 500

  • You've got 18 winston cup titles in that one wreck!

  • Who won this race?

  • Rusty Wallace

  • Swervin' Irvan strikes again

  • @Greg29fan Especially the Kodak machine. Swervin' Irvan caused the big crash at Talldega and about wiped everyone out.

The next race at Talladega, not very pleasant. Irvan may have won Daytona, but he must have gotten cocky.

  • What I would do for NASCAR to be like this again. It's changed way too much since Earnhardt's death. I hated him when he drove, but I really miss him now just because he was the only person keeping the sport sane

  • amen, i wished he'd finish every race in last place but it would've been great if he was in every race.... i also never thought i'd hate pre-race coverage, but back than if coverage started at 1, the race started at 1:10

  • Totally. And why is the Daytona 500 ending under the lights? That's so ridiculous. I'm in college and I live 2 hours away so I can't stay at home to watch the race with my family this year. I could if they'd start the race at 1 and not 3:30

  • pocono had some pretty weak walls back then. good thing they put in concrete walls cause people would get killed the way they crash nowadays

  • I believe for the longest time they had boilerplate walls, and not concrete walls at Pocono, and that's why DW's car basically dented or punched a hole in the inside pit wall.

  • I'd rather have seen boilerplate walls than concrete there, since at least the old walls absorbed energy. Ideally, there should be a SAFER barrier there (is there now?)

  • There's no SAFER Barrier on the pit wall. I was at Pocono last month for the August race, and as far as I can tell, it's still the boiler plate wall.

  • omg i wasn't even BORN in 1991

  • Bad wreck...wait...HUT STRICKLIN WAS LEADING?! lmao.

  • Hut never hit anything! He eventually finished 4th!

I'm assuming this is a "pay-per-view" or "on demand" broadcast, based on the extended commentary in the middle part of the video.

  • no this was on ESPN i just have the raw satellite feed of the race

  • who gets the raw feed?

  • Listen to that crowd!

  • The King really got some air on that one.

  • Ol' Swervin' Irvan was good for one of these back in the day.

  • Was erine irvan the bad boy of nascar at that tyme?

  • That's pretty much an understatement. He was absolutely hated back in the day.

  • yeah. He caused the accident in 1990 that essentially ended Neil Bonnett's career at Darlington. At Talladega in '91, he triggered that massive 25-car accident that sent Mark Martin flying thru the air. Kyle Petty broke a leg in it. This was the third strike. It got so bad, that a few weeks later at Talladega, he stood up at the driver's meeting and asked for forgiveness, apologizing for what had happened in the past year and a half.

  • Man, DW hit that inside wall a ton!

  • Ernie sure caused a huge wreck!
