  • hey, i try to find sennelier but it's not available in my country. How about Pentel or Faber Castle? or Maries? Can they blend as nicely as this?

  • love your video. i found it soo helpfull. thank you so much!

  • The waves look awesome! :)

  • This is so good. I'm kinda got my interest in this. :) you're a bit funny too. I also like your laugh. BTW, THANKS FOR THE VIDEO :)

  • i love long videos like this!!!!! they actually show how much time the artist puts into it!!!!

  • Very helpful

  • I just got a couple today in the post and I tried them out. Love them! So much fun to blend. Can`t wait to get more colours and play around with them. Thanks for the tips!

  • @kitty3309 They are tons of fun to use. Just expensive. But that is the price of having supplies that are just awesome. I am glad you enjoy them. Happy drawing!

  • yo man where at in NJ are you im from NJ too. im like 20 min from OC/AC

  • @TheChrisChaffinShow I am in way north New Jersey. Up in the Bergen county area.

  • What kind of sorcery was that? :D

Thats was very impressive,i've been seeing your videos and it helped me out a lot, thank you so much for showing what you know ( :

  • @BroKira It is the sorcery of a time and patience. Thanks for the wonderful comment. I am glad to be able to pass on my knowledge to aspiring artists. Always a pleasure! thanks!

  • haha this is great, it helped so much and got many giggles out of it. - its just a really good tutorial! thanks a lot!!

  • @024GemS Wow! Thanks for making my day so much better! I love seeing awesome comments! Thanks for being Awesome!!!

  • u dont have any dislike.. that mean all views like you video :D

  • what is the brand you use??? i cant find any stores that sell them in my area.

  • @worldonfiredos the brand is sennelier. It is a very high end brand that only specialist stores sell. Blick art matierials, Pearl, and Jerry's Artarama are 3 stores off the top of my head that would have that brand. Otherwise its always online.

  • @TylersArtShack do you know if 55 dollors is a good price online for it. Because i have the money but my parents wont let me buy it. please respond. I subscribed.

  • What is the name of paper I should use for regular Oil PAstels from Fred Meyer?! I use Sketch Paper, but lol, that does NOT owrk well for blending. Then I use Canvas Paper, but it has to many hols so if I blend, it sinks in and shows a crease. Can you foster me with advice please Tyler? ;O

  • umm,do you have tutorials on how to draw tigers using pastels?

  • @ryah0111 No I do not, You may be able to find someone who does here on youtube. I am not so great with animals.

  • How much does that brand cost?

  • @JustiYams it's not cheap it is usually 2-4 dollers per pastel.

  • 2:30 ITS AWESOME! haha

  • What kidn of paper do you recommend? I've used oil and chalk pastels and from what i've seen it depends alot on the paper for the ease of smoothing

  • @zerographica It all really depends on your personal preference. When i use chalk pastel, I prefer a paper with a little more tooth or roughness. When using oil pastel, I prefer a paper that is a bit smoother. It just makes blending the oil pastels much easier.

  • Thank you! This is exactly the sort of info I have been looking for when it comes to getting the range of colours in an area and as I was trying to decide which pastels to use so you helped me on two points. :-) Can't wait to watch the rest of your videos.

  • will the result be okay if ever the paper is hard or when i color on illustration boards? BTW, thanks for this vid.....

  • or instead of getting oil pastel color on your finger is use a tissue

  • craypas sakura oil pastels are very pigmented and soft

  • I tried to use oil pastels one time when I was younger & I was like wtf? xD I didn't realize you had to blend them. & I did watch the whole thing btw :P

  • Awesome! Thanks man, this is really, really helpful. You really are an excellent artist. I'm looking forward to the next ones :)

  • Ok so i was jw where did you get that brand of oil pastel and how much was it?

  • @smileymileylover101 You are going to want to look at stores that specialize in art supplies. Around where I am there are stores such as Blick, Jerrys, and pearl that sell nothing but art supplies. You can also get them online. I do not know the exact price that I purchased them for but a 24 pack can range from around 40 to 60 bucks. I got one of those and since then, I have just been buying individual colors as I needed them.

  • @TylersArtShack How if i wanna draw a sun set wave.....what color im gonna using???

    THNX...

  • @electrified0704 That depends on what part of the wave you are talking about. It is usually pretty dark at the base of a wave but gets very light at the top. I like using a light blue with a bit of green in it for the tops of the waves.

  • dude you are an amazing artist ...but the part u call the eye why is that yellowish???

  • @gabbygirl6969 It is not always yellowish in color. It can vary in many different colors. What happens is this area of the wave has a very thin layer of water allowing a lot of light to pass through that spot. This gives the water there a much lighter color than the rest of the wave. So if there is a sunset behind the wave, that part of the wave would be yellowish. If it was midday, it would probably be a very light greenish white color. If you look up some ocean paintings you will see some.

  • @TylersArtShack oh ok i was just very curious about that but i still think u are a ver talented artist

  • Hi there Recently I have got back into my drawings and now wanted to add color and texture. Your videos have helped me greatly. I have completed every tutorial you have here. I wanted to share something with you. My grandaughter 5 years old always got mad watching me draw trying to do what I do. Today I showed her how to do the fern looking plants that you teach and she was so excited to be able to draw them . So I owe you huge THANKS!! and I hope that you soon have another video tutorial up.

  • @llexidawson I always enjoy receiving comments like this. It reminds me of why I started this youtube channel. I am very happy that you are learning to draw again and I really hope you keep it up!

  • The Myungo Artist Extra Soft Oil Pastels (NOT their "standard" OPs) are permanent, artist quality oil pastels that are quite soft, opaque and well pigmented. They are like 1/3rd, (or less), the price of Senneliers. Maybe not as much nice pigment as the Senns, but hard to beat for the price and lightfastness.

  • i agree with the adding more colors i too do that with my paintings and i normally just buy the ones you see in the packs at walmart bc i dont have a nearby craft store which sucks lol i love all your videos maybe sometime if you have the time u should see my art vids not tutorials just vids of my paintings i'll make tutorials eventually :) i enjoy watching ur videos i learn how to paint a wave finnaly ^^ keep making them ur awesome! 5 stars from me!

  • @screamingshadows19 If you dont have any stores near you just go online and check out amazon blick jerrys artarama. There are quite a few places that sell art supplies that are rather cheap. and yeah I got a very positive response from this video. Everybody really seemed to like it even though it was 17 min long. Ill keep these tips and tricks going.

  • @TylersArtShack I actually have Jerrys artarama here where i live never really went in there I think ill check it out this weekend :D iv been drawing so much better with your videos ^^ you should make a tutorial on how to draw weeping willows i tend to draw those alot haha i love ur dead tree video

  • Jersey boyy!!! hahaha i didnt know....i live in jersey too =]

  • @immrmole haha yeah... we get such a bad reputation over here but I still love this state.

  • Thanks for the tip, I will try my hand at a wave or two. By the way I am using Pentel oil pastels and they are pretty decent for the price. (under $7 for 36 colors) I haven't used any other, so I have nothing to compare it too.

  • @dime71bag I have not used that many other brands besides sennelier. As long as you can blend them rather easily I would say they are perfectly fine.

  • Yet again another great video!

I haven't got oil pastels do you recommend I buy some to try or not?

  • @CharcoalDrawings If you feel like you will use them quite a bit and be able to produce some decent works then go for it. But if have never tried them, I would hate for you to spend 3 dollars a stick for oil pastels and find that you really dont like them. I would go with something cheaper and work your way up. A pack of 24 of these oil pastels runs for around 50-60 bucks I believe. They are not cheap.

  • dude, it's great and helpful :)

    I'll try it :)

Can you just tell me have you got any SPECIAL paper for oil pastels or ????

  • @BubleBubleArt Thank you! Sennelier does sell its own brand of paper that costs heeps of money to buy and I dont think it is necessary. When I do drawings for the speed drawing videos, I use bristol vellum paper. Bristol vellum is a style of paper that is sold over many brands of paper. I use strathmore bristol vellum paper.

  • @TylersArtShack

I'm new in drawing with pastels and this is good to know :)

  • haha just here to help.

  • I never get tired of your videos. How do you get the graphite, charcoal, pastel, oil pastel, etc off of the blending stump if its possible???

  • @ThunderrBeast Ah! an Idea for another video. There are a few ways to do this. You can shave it with a blade or sand it with sandpaper. sandpaper is probably safer and easier. Thanks for the idea!

  • of course we are still watching ^^

I guess nobody can close the window if you are drawing such amazing things, and even explain what you do ^.^

  • @Champo0 lol thank you! I was having a real fun time drawing that and the video just kept getting longer and longer lol.

  • Very good vid man I was going to ask about the oil pastels. Are they harder than a crayon? I look forward to seeing more tips and tricks thanks for posting and yes I watched the whole thing. : )

  • @henrycems I would not say they are harder than crayon. Oil pastels tend to get softer as you handle it more. But when they cool off, they do get harder. So I guess you could say the sort of melt from the warmth of your hand. and I am glad you sat and watched the entire video lol. I hope you didnt find it boring at all. I tend to start rambling a bit lol.

  • i do have one question. i am 17, i have just had twin girs that were three months premature. one wieghed 12 ounces and the other one weighed 2 pounds 2 ounces. i love art and everything that has to do with it. i am working part time on nights and im only getting maybe four hours a week.. =( i am very low on money and i was wondering if you could somehow give me some art supplies.. i reallly really want a charcole pencil set... or at least a few different weights of charcole pencils... help?

  • @JORDANROUBIQUE I am sorry to hear about your situation and I wish you the best of luck. However, I am currently not in the greatest position to be able to give away free art supplies. I am sure you can put together about 4 dollars because all you need really is 3 charcoal pencils. 2 Will even hold you over. They don't come in as many grades as pencils do. They only come in hard, medium, soft and, extra soft. You can find them for really cheap at certain stores. Use the micheals 40% coupon off.

  • @TylersArtShack we dont have that store where i live.. ive checked walmart and tey dont have them.. i guess ill make a trip o hobby lobby sometime soon. how much are blending stumps? and howmany do you get in a pack?

  • @JORDANROUBIQUE usually when i buy them you can buy them separate or in a pack of 12 for around 4 bucks. they come in a large amount of sizes. I stick with the mid range sizes. they work fine
