In the DS version, there are "augments" that give characters abilities, like "Cry", "Dualcast", "Counter", "Bluff" and even "Tsunami", "Whirlwind", "Inferno" ect.

i made Kain jump the whole fight, Cecil and Rosa healing or casting spells like protect or shell and Cid and Yang can do anything they want but they must not attack. If you use cid and yang to attack, she will counter it. Kain normally does 500-1000 damage when he jumps. so just use Kain to jump and you take 500 Hp from her life points each time. you won't believe it but suddenly you, yourself, will see that you defeat her =)

I was soo happy that i defeated Dark Elf (+ dragon) and Magus Sisters. Then comes Tornado woman, who always defeats mee!! She is extremely hard and her HP is high!!! If I had Black Magic, That would have been great but Tellah died.

this boss is really easy if you know what you're doing. first thing, have cecil cast protect and rosa cast shell, kain should ONLY jump this whole fight, but make him jump once he's been shelled and protected. Yang should use focus and attack occasionally. Never use brace or kick. Cecil and Cid SHOULD NOT attack for the duration of the fight. Cecil should act as a healer with Rosa, and Cid should defend since his shit damage isnt worth the Lightning counter.

Yeah, since this is on DS you see only the upper screen on this video. All the HP, MP and status aillments of your party are shown on the lower screen (thus not shown here). In this game all magic costs a set amount of MP and you can use spells as long as your character has mana. But if you run out, it doesn't replenish automatically or with Save Points, and you must restore it with items etc. :----D

Yeah, except that in Kingdom Hearts 2, where this happens, your MP starts charging back up and is restored completely after a while. Not so in FFIV. If you happen to run out of MP and have nothing to replenish it (items etc) you're screwed. I say Kingdom Hearts is more forgiving in that sense.

Why the hell would Kain cry?! After watching some cutscenes in Dissidia 012 Duodecim (The English Version) I cannot picture Kain cry like a little boy. It just doesn't make sense... Overall though, level up your characters first, THEN fight Barbariccia.

there is a way to teach your characters abilities like that in this version, the player chose to give Kain the cry command, as it can be very useful. as for leveling your characters... this version of the game is the original japanese difficulty, their games are very well known for having brutally harsh, unforgiving difficulty.

Nevertheless bro a game changer for the series. FF4 led to 5 and 6 and continued the evolution in FF VII which revolutionized console RPGs. Also if you get the chance and have a good enough console, check out Dragon Age. Well worth the play time, amazing work.

Have you played this version? We Americans got the easy version of FF4 on the SNES. Japs had the harder version of FF4 on the SNES. The difficulti was not turned down this time around. I beat her first try because I was over leveled (as always)

@Lindbum Yes. I've played it. In fact, I had even played the ramped up version for GBA, as well. Also, I have played "The After Years", which has the difficulty turned up even more.

And like I said, this battle is really easy ,and there really shouldn't be any reason to ever die. It's simple. Kain's jump takes an approximate time to execute, which has a variable of what actions occur during his jump. If you time it right, she should never be spinning for more than 1 turn.

They did up the difficulty of a lot of the monsters / bosses in this remake to compensate for giving you augments probably.

Monsters counter ALOT more in this version and with particularly nasty stuff.

After beating the game a couple times by racking up augments try doing a run through "vanilla" style without augments, it's a pretty good challenge.
