Great post. You can also find this song on the double album "Peace Piece and Other Pieces" (Milestone 1974). Still get chills when I hear this. BTW, anyone else notice how similar this sounds to Miles Davis' "Flamenco Stetches"?
@doc2skate Agreed! It's the Flamenco Sketches intro. The solo has the same feeling for Bill.
However in Flamenco Sketches, Coltrane, CanonBall and Miles take it more to Spain in take 2. Take 1 is quite similar to this tune. Very soulful and mellow.
I really love this kind of tune, we want to call it jazz but it's really just a soulful tune that transcends the genre. Much like Coltrane's Naima.
@digiblood Thanks for the Coltrane recommendation. You're right about where the song takes you. For me it had a "Film Noir" feel to it. As for Bill Evans, I'm looking deeper for more of his artistry. Hoping to find more music with both artists involved.
this is extremely BEAUTIFUL! PERFECT!!

wow, no other musician who does this kind of melancholy thing better or deeper than Bill Evans.
