  • Remember watching Solid Gold summer June 1982. Madame chatted with Dancers back on January 16th 1982 & around June-August 1982 late in season 2 w/Pam/Deborah/Paula/Tony/Alex/Darcel/Kahea/Helene that was really getting to know the solid gold dancers in person that's a classic..

  • Not really, she's not "off", she's HOT! hahaha Good song choices too, not much of a medley. I watched the show when it was televised but missed this one! I recorded it for Ozzy's appearance with Jake E Lee...Bark at the Moon era, 86? And the Chicago video Stay the Night they showed as well, all time classic, that one!

  • Nice pants Marilyn!

  • Glenn Shorrock awesome as always! Glenn was "the voice" of The Little River band!

  • What's the story with Glen Shorrock supposingly taking over Andy Gibb's position on this show? Does anyone know? Was Glen really too ugly? Anyway he got the gig of hosting the show Rock Arena for a while here in Australia. A very different show!

  • Its like the Little River Band meets the 5th dimension. Cool!

  • Great vid!! Shorrock is a great singer!!

  • Fretfeeler<

Boy I am really glad that I don't have your perfect, flawless, impeccably precise pitch hearing, because I really really enjoyed this song and it's harmony.

And, depite its imperfections, I'm sure I will enjoy it over and over, as I replay it.

    Thanks, McCoofan.

  • Wow, Glenn is awesome on this but Marilyn sounds pretty off on most of those harmonies.

I doubt she would make it past the first round of American Idol today. :|

  • Funny...I've been a group-harmony singer and fan for years... I just gave this duet another listen and tried hard to find any problem in the harmonies -- didn't hear one! Maybe Solid Gold arranged the music/harmonies differently for the duet than what was sung originally by the Little River Band.

  • I'm not saying I could sing it any better either...

I am cursed with perfect pitch hearing, but my vocal control is still a work in progress since I hit puberty and lost it many many years ago (while singing in choir). :(

For a "Solid Gold" episode where she very likely learned the song in a big hurry, and probably had little or no time to work with Glenn Shorrock, she did fantastic.

I am well aware she had to learn a lot of songs for that show, I used to watch it all the time as a kid. :)

  • @Fretfeeler Marilyn didn't need a show like American Idol. She became a star on her own with one of the best voices ever! On Solid Gold she sang everyones songs and often better than the original!

  • Oh WOW...yes VERY nice harmonies esp on the second song. Like we keep saying Ms. Marilyn can SANG anything and it sounds golden.

  • ty i lurvv marilyn but i have never like glenn shorrock sorry

  • @oldbag699 Really?? Why not? Now I would say if you compare him to Peter Cetera, He still sounds a bit better, but Cetera you recognize just about anywhere with his distinct voice

  • Thanks for posting this. Two great singers in a great medley. You always have wonderful treats for us viewers.
