  • your kit sounds badass, but, if i have to say anything, why are your rack toms spread so far apart, it looks like it'd be kind of tough to do some transitions and fills, just sayin'

  • @DailyBeat97 Part of it is the camera angle I think, but since then I've moved and arranged the set much better. check out my newer vids

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 your newer setup is much better, btw, what series of pearl drums are these?

  • Sounds great. I'd say the only thing I would do differently is to add a bit more bottom end on the bass drum. Not too much, but a little, probably between 50-65 hz. That'll bring a bit more presence to it. I think the snare sound here is probably my favorite, but all of them sound good overall.

  • yeah.... awesome..

  • Hey man, just wondering how your snare is tuned? Are both heads pretty tight, or is one tighter than the other like?? Its got a nice like 'crack' to it. Cheers dude.

  • bass drum sounds dreadful.

  • trippling billies? - dave mathews?

  • @DrumDougDrum Nope, I was just playing the first thing that came to my head. However a couple other people thought I was playing a DMB song, probably because of the hi-hat stuff.

  • evans heads???

  • Hey man what kit is that, its amazing :)

  • are you left handed?

  • @NocturnalOccultist Mostly yes, but I can play either way if need be

  • Very Nice sound, can u tell me your eq and compression settings ;)

  • what type of hi hats are those??

  • @wannabedrummerlol They're Zildjain new beat hi hats, with the bottom on top.

  • hey, your drumming is awesome! I want to start learning the drums, but wanted to ask what brand of drums are these in the video? thanks man, i subscribed!

  • @Prologue2113 These are pearl drums. They don't make this particular series anymore but you can find a good set for whatever price range your looking for.

  • What kickdrum mic?

  • @SenthysizzerYeah Audix D6

  • im new , can i ask , where does the wire of the mics , goes ? is to a speaker or a laptop ? please answer .

  • @TheApieTV read the description :)

  • 0:08 Let's learn how to play a good fill in 4/4. Then try to record it

  • Comment removed

  • @cranksdrummer learn to count 4/4 before commenting about it...

  • @bluesbro182 There is a mistake or the tempo is sliding, but I didn't read the description so sorry for it :)

  • i'm a total noob here and I've searched in amazon for the Tascam DP-02CF and it says it has only 2 xlr input, thats 2 mics right? and you have like 8, how?

  • @VanDahh read the description :)

  • How did you mic your bass drum? Any EQ on it?

  • sounds like an cheap electric kit

  • When people hear your drums all mic'ed up with all your eq and compressors, reverb,It's not your drum's sound anymore. They are the same thing as superior drummer! So you might as well use e drums or v drums. It will sound better than any mix you can do.They are recorded with the best shit in the world. And in the best rooms in the world. So just use triggers, and get the sound you want everytime,In just minutes. Those mesh heads are = to any drum head response.

  • @semiLivedj Well keep in mind this was my first time ever using the mics and recording. Superior drummer is a great program, but it doesn't sound the same as my set the way I want it. It sounds too perfect for my taste. Mesh head sets are REALLY nice too, but they have a different feel than acoustic drums, way more bounce to the heads even if you lessen the tension (not to mention the price tag)

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 Yes you will get a different sound from your own drums.I dont know if you ever worked with SD.But you can use any drum you want with any effect you want. Its endless what you can do.I can make them sound like your drums. But you cant make them sound human without playing it on the drums. As for mesh heads,I dont know what you played on but I have played drums for 35 yrs and mesh heads are pretty damn good.I have come to like them better. But hey! Nothing wrong with mic'ing

  • @semiLivedj No wrong, they sound great properly compressed and eq'd. This was the proper thing to do. In a mix that would sound proper and awesome. When those drums go to mastering, then wow, they would sound even better. That is just the way it is done. Zappa used they same technique on ALL his recordings.

  • @analyzingfunny Just skip all the micing,eq,compressor. And get a proper set of rolands with superior drummer. This is how everyone does it now.Not how Frank did it 15 yrs ago.

  • @semiLivedj And the digital vs. analog war raged on for centuries. People have their opinions on what sounds right and what feels right, and to me an electric set doesn't feel as nice as real drums to me. But you on the other hand apparently love them, which is fine with me :)

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 Look,Once you have mic'ed up your tubs, have them tweeked with all that,it is no different than a sample.Except the sample uses more better stuff to record.I liked to make my tubs sound good too,But at the end of the day,It is still a recorded sound. But I cant afford a thousand dollar reverb, ect. But you can have one with SD.But I also agree that one is not better,Just different.I was raised analog. But digital is cleaner.I will watch your new vid.And Im sure it will be awesome.

  • @semiLivedj anyways I'm going to be uploading a new drum video very soon so check that out when I get it uploaded and tell me what you think, because they sound nothing close to "wimpy" or "soft" in the new recording

  • Not just you man,But can drums get any more wimpier! Like the last 20 yrs.Drums just keep getting a smoother and softer sound.I would rather hear drums with one mic in the room.People using mic's on every drum with a noise gate, limiter, compressor.Took years for me to get used to that sound.Micing all the drums is good for a crowd of 5000 or more.I played with 2 mics for years in bars. But to each his own.Might as well get e drums and S.D.Best mic'ed drums you can get.Why not?

  • @iistilly1 your videos prove your skills too, wait..... you dont have any drum videos!!!

  • @iistilly1 ass hole

  • heyy man i seen alot of these videos but thesse drums sound really good man good shittt lol

  • nice sounding mics man...

  • @iistilly1 shut up u whore he's good :) u cant even do that so shut up

  • @iistilly1 heey jo rapper! You kno what? You suck!

  • @henkhakkertoene the guy drumming produced a couple of my songs im fuckin with him chilllllllllll

  • Wow dude that sounds amazing!!! Nice work!! :D

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 lol your my boy man cant wait to hear another subject to change song

  • what speakers and mixer did u use? great playing

  • @runner097 read info

  • sounds siiiik man

  • good drum kit sound!

  • dang those drums sound good man

  • i think it sounds amazing

  • nice sound,i like so much :D

  • Wow! Not only the sound is so incredibly nice - man, was that improvisation???!!!

And I kindly forgive you your small tripping in the 2/4 bar - which I love... the bar... (=

Thanks so much for that indescribably awesome rhythm!

  • you know the st31's are not condensers. they are dynamic mics. just fyi.

  • @sethplaysbass20 They are condensers. The Sterling Audio ST31 is an FET small-diaphragm condenser microphone that needs phantom power to use.

  • What heads are on those toms? And what are the tunings?

  • hh I play the same style. Left hand on hi-hat :-)

  • can someone give me a trick on how to reduce some ambiance noise (coming mostly for the overheads) ?

  • If its set up even better now, would you consider making a video of how it sounds now?

  • @CalTamaDrummer Yes I will be posting a new one soon hopefully

  • Dude, your kit sounds like ... sex. If i got mics, could i come to you and ask you questions about it, and how to process it through my computer and such?

  • your toms are so far away from each other lol. only a boss could play em

  • i dont have much money. can i record with just ONE mic (usb) and still get better quality than the crappy camera mics? i got 150 bucks. any recommendations?

  • @zacheryds If your gonna just use one mic, I would recommend one condenser mic directly above the set. Best thing to do when starting with drum mics is one mic on the kick, one on the snare and two overheads but if you can get one mic for the kick and just put one more mic directly over the set it should sound fine

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 ok thank you. does that mean i can plug more than 1 mic into my laptop? because i have three slots. can i use three?

  • @zacheryds I'm not sure :/ I would try it though

  • @zacheryds See if you can get a AKG c1000 with your budget. It is a great mic for drums and it takes a 9v battery thereby providing its own phantom power. So you can plug it into anything. I understand you may only be able to afford one. Otherwise, if at all possible get a stereo pair at the same time. The c1000 is great to start with but even if you were to ever upgrade your recording setup to the best there is, then those c1000's would still sit nicely in the setup rather than ditching them.

  • @zacheryds I'd recommend an MXL 770 if you are in the market for a cheap Condensor Mic

  • @zacheryds with 150$ you cant get a whole lot however I run a mixer with 2 vocal mics and a sm 58 on the bass drum and im quite glad with my sound.... i think the mixer alone will be 150$ +

  • @zacheryds ive seen a couple of vids on yt of one mic for the drums. interesting, a sounds great!

  • yup, they sound GOOd. Try some tube preamps!

  • great sounding kit man. any processing on the tracks?

  • @BirchwoodProduction1 just some onboard compression from the mixer i think

  • Those toms sound killer!

  • is the EC snare head your useing a bright or dark head? becuase im looking for a bright head that is also dampend but that can still retain the openness of the head

  • @Ryanincambonia I think it's nice and bright and snappy but kills unwanted overtones. The sound is fantastic and the only reason I don't use them anymore is because they are not durable enough for my playing. (But I play really hard, a lot harder than you see in this video) so it should be fine for most drummers.

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 o ok thanks, btw what head do you use now cuz i play pretty hard too

  • @Ryanincambonia Now I use a remo emperor X. The sound is much darker though because it's a 2 ply head with a center dot which kinda makes it a triple ply head. You have to tune it tight to get the same bright sound. If you're looking for a head that would retain the openness of the drum though you might not want the emperor x because of the thickness of the head it is really aimed towards very hard hitters and is more closed sounding

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 from my experience with remo ive always notice that the coating on the heads always chip off within about a week, thats why i dont use them

  • @Ryanincambonia Yeah I use evans on everything but my snare drum. If you can get a remo emporer X drumhead to peel or break within 3 months I'll be surprised!

  • which effects were you using?

  • sounds amazing, man. Congrats for getting that sound. :D

  • woow the sound is fantastic !! what drum use in this video ??

  • @manubestdrummer98 It's a pearl session studio set, they are lo longer produced.

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 WOW ... this version is in birch ?? ;)

    thank you ... ;)

  • manita arriba me gusta tu estilo man

  • I really wish i can tune my drums to sound like this. i suck at tuning =(

  • @metalhead1225 Get a drum dial. Until I had one of these I sucked at tuning drums too, but since I've gotten this it's made me good enough to where I don't even have to use it anymore! just go to the guitar center website and search drum dial.

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 sounds good, i have the drumdial, what tension use in your toms? and what heads use?

  • @centinela87 i think it might have been just under the recommended settings that come with it. My drums are tuned different now though, I don't really use the drum dial too much anymore I just use my finger to do the same thing and I seem to get the sound I want.

  • @metalhead1225 just keep in mind no matter how good you tune a drum it won't change the quality of the drum itself, which determines how good it sounds overall

  • wow you got skills !

    :D

  • dream theater

  • pretty damn good bruh, kit sounds great too.

  • I never would have though that I'd have over 70,000 view on a video. THANKS GUYS! (lets try to get that many views on my original songs!!!) /watch?v=ug-AvMngnBw

  • what heads are those?

  • @ThatsSoCash As far as i can see he's got:

Evans EC Reverse Dot on the snare

    Evans EC2's on the toms

i'm guessing on evans G2 on floortom

And bass can be EMAD,GMAD,... dunno

  • @reloud37 Correct, the floor tom is also an ec2 theres just a clear drum ring covering the black ring on the drum head

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 Ah k :P I have being experimenting with drum heads myself now for i while and still haven't found the right heads -.- like your snare sound btw, powerfull and balanced sustain.

  • i wish i got some drum talent

  • those mics sound AMAZING. oh and you're good too.

  • what kind of snare do hou use?

  • @badd1hero Its a pearl session studio 14x5

  • @TheOnlyDaysMusic guitar center

  • they work

  • how do you tune your bass drum? as in how far does the middle of the head compress when you puch it in with your thumb? also is there any muffling? I have to say this the ideal bass sound imo

  • @tranman978 This is an old video, so I'm not exactly sure how it was tuned, but I normally tune the batter head loose to get the low end, but not so loose that you lose response. Then I tune the resonant head a little tighter so it's punchy. If there's one piece of golden advice I can give you, get the Evans EMAD bass drum head. once you use it, you'll never want another head on your bass drum. I'm also using an Evans bass drum EQ pad

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 the problem i have is when i tune tom and bass heads low, i get a really floppy sound although there are no wrinkles on the head. and the bass head always sound too punchy at lower tensions but have too much reverb at high frequency. Another question is, do studio quality drum sets sound completely different live than in recording?

  • @tranman978 Try turning the lugs only like a quarter turn each time you adjust one. I kinda feel the same way and try to find a good balance between punch and reverb. I use moon-gels too for the toms which I think work great. You can get drum rings too. As for your other question, it depends on how you mix it. This video sounds more like the set if you were standing next to it, where as my newer song theres a lot of EQ and compression on the drums to make them sound more crisp and punchy

  • EC2's are the best. I put them on my kit and was so impressed. Anyway, great sound from the mics. Keep it up man!

  • are you left handed?

  • Nice sounds man!

  • *subscribed*

  • how much did you drop on all the mics?

  • Could you tell me what heads are on your toms please? They sound brilliant!

  • @Darkostica Evans's EC2's. Ever since I put these on my toms, I haven't gone with anything else, except a coated version on my floor tom. I love the sound of them.

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 I can see why.... they sound perfect! I want these now, thanks man! Great vid!

  • is it evans EC 2 on your tom?

  • How much did all the recording stuff cost?

  • can you tell me how your top and bottm heads are tuned on your toms?

  • @13of8 I usually tune the top head loose, but not so loose that there are waves or wrinkles in the head, and the bottom head a little tighter than the top head so it resonates well

  • man great sound! can you tell me what eq and compression you put on your bass drum?

  • @Poetavater89 I dont remember exaclty, I was only using the EQ and compression from a yahmaha cx166 mixer, not very high end at all, the tuning of the drums is more important

  • dont get cocky with you playing, the setup is sick!!! a set up like that should have perfectly timed drums

  • does the mics hear theres lika a car driving by your house?

  • what that a dream theater song somewhere in there?

  • @sickbo121 I kinda just go by the recommended tensions in the booklet that it comes with, but then I tune if further by ear, so i'm not sure exactlyl

  • Great tuning HOLY SHIT!

  • @sickbo121 Please be more specific. what are you asking? you mean the drum tuner "drum dial"?

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 he means how you tune your drum with the drum dial. does he even knows if you have one? lol

  • These sound like the drums from one of the system of a down albums O_o

  • perfect ! :D

  • this sounded sick :)

  • The drum sound is nice and solid, including the snare :)

  • What drum kit are you using?

  • @JonnyHeather123 pearl session studio

  • not that they're bad sounds but i didn't really like the snare or bass drum sound, other than that, awsome sounds! the bass and snare sounded like they were recorded on a tom mic, the bass needed more punch and so did the snare, but then again, thats just me...

  • i cant look at people playing "open-handed" - that somehow looks "wrong" - but great sound! :)

  • The style in the second half reminds me of Carter Beauford

  • Sounds amazing! how to you got your mixer running to your interface? i got a peavey pv14 and im getting an audix i5 for my snare, mid tom, and floor tom with a d6 on the kick, and im thinking about getting the same tascam

  • Hey, how did you get your bass and toms so clean sounding? mine always reverberate too much. any tips?

  • @LinkEdwardDrums What are you using to record with?

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 Im using actually 8-9 mics right now into a mixer, and then into a 2-port interface to my computer. I think its just tuning that I need to do.

  • @LinkEdwardDrums yeah I would recommend getting a drum dial. Before using it I really couldn't tune drums well. It gets the tension on the head the same at each lug, but it really teaches you how to tune by ear well after doing it a few times. Now I use it when I put new heads on to get them perfect, then fine tune more by ear

  • If you're looking for a job, I'd be happy to hire you as my drum-tech. :-)

  • dude,, how much are the mics?

  • dude,, how much is the mics?

  • Nice, other than a really bad ring at 170 that's in or triggered by the kick.

  • what kind of heads?

  • What drum heads are you using?

  • @RedSandStudios EC reverse dot on the snare, and clear ec2's on the toms

  • Soooo. I love your snare more then my family. Do you remember what it was and what the head was. The head looks familiar. I just love the tone. You're a great engineer and drummer!

  • @TheOrisApparatus Lol thanks a lot its a pearl session studio 14"snare and the head was an evans EC snare

  • How did you EQ this, Very nice sound

  • @SomeGuyWithABucket I honestly dont remember it was just a 3 band eq and compression. I used a mixer and a digital recorder before now I use logic and protools

  • @SomeGuyWithABucket dont mess to mutch with the EQ,

its just a matter of perfect drum tuning and muffeling.

I find less EQ better and more natural.(like this)

  • hey are those zildjian rock hats? i think i got the same ones

  • @Sublemon7 zildjain new beats

  • these mics sound AMAZING

  • Comment removed

  • fucking eargasm!

  • @Tumabite Haha thanks! BTW nice cover of almost easy! :)

  • love your snare!

  • hey man your drums sound very nice.

are you just using the given tools of the mixer or did you also worked with noise gaits and compressors and so on?! any suggestions for recording drums cause I'm gonna record soon

  • @007seppy Theres compression on all the drum mics buiit into this particular mixer, and I might have EQ'd the entire track in wavepad a little

  • groovy baby, nice sound as well

  • clipping
