We have many misguided ppl like him, the hadith collections are such that if you twist and interpret them long enough you can argue using certain hadiths an interpretation that is so off the mark of the true meaning of islam and its doctrines. Your assumption that his scholarship is not in line with a discourse of scholarship that has gone on for over 1000 years is incorrect and dangerous. You assume that the popular, mainstream view of Islam is a consensus and agreed upon throughout the Muslim world, but this is also incorrect. This man gives clear reference, support, and scholarship for his claims, and I have yet to hear anyone refute him successfully... You seem very sure, so i'll ask you to do it.

Your statement is presumptuous and not based in fact. He does not deny or argue 1 word spoken of the Prophet or Allah. His correction is that of the later Islamic converts from the Persian, Byzantine,and Syrian empires, who eventually over took the Muslim leadership and altered it's creeds to better adopt their cultures and beliefs. Again I don't follow hadeeth but it would seem that Dr. Wesley does not understand that hadeeth. Lisanul-Arab comments about the hadeeth that says:لا شَخْصَ أَغْيَرُ من اللّه؛ by saying:
وقيل: معناه لا ينبغي لشَخْصٍ أَن يكون أَغْيَرَ من اللّه.
Hmmmm. God cannot be seen. He is not physical and is not limited. He envelops all. God is not man, and man is not God. The hadeeth have not religious authority but one cannot deny that the Quran is clear that God has not limited form. Even in the case of that hadeeth, which I don't pay too much attention to but 'form' in Arabic does not just mean physical form, it is often used as 'way.'
@Quranite sorry to disagree with ya, but i think we can see GOD and its your choice if you want to see him or her. Since we don't know, for a fact, the origins of humanity. We have to be open to all possibilities until humanity finds the truth.
