  • batman died then only red robin knew he was alive and is trying to get hi back and the antiverse is trying to kill superman

  • Superheroes in the DC U have finally acheived that mythological status with Final Crisis. The Marvel U has gone nowhere near that. Final Crisis is entirely about keeping the constant true mode of reality away from the borders of the fatalistic fallen (satanic) nihilistic idealogy of Darkseid and his lord Mandrakk. The New Gods aren't just metahumans, they really are the stuff of mythological Gods. DC version .

  • Yeah, this series sucked monkey balls. There was no point except to it except to send Batman in the past...apparently with his utility belt...and that's it. Morrison was totally incoherent in his writing and it skipped around so much that it was impossible to follow along unless you had a masters degree in Morrison theology.

  • Hah Im younger than you and you can't even understand a simple comic like final crisis. or youre just ranting for the fun of it because people rants about it too. Talk about wanting popularity through youtube..

  • itestudent. Since you are advanced beyond your years, please explain the series to the rest of us. Not just the parts about Darkside. What were the other story threads about? What are the implications of the ending and how does it effect DC books from this point on? Can you back up your claim of understanding or are you just seeking popularity by ranting about other peoples Youtube videos?

  • I been reading comics since before you were even sperm and I didn't get FC at all. I had to have somebody explain it to me and then I realized because I had missed Superman 3D, I missed alot of what makes it make sense.

  • Dude, I undertastand Final Crisis and it's not to complicated... I mean it's hard to understand if people r the typical marvel reader that only reads shit like secret invasion and that stuff. Kudos for your comment and don't ever get dissapointed by the thumbs down.

  • Here is an equation for you. Final Crisis=CRAP. It is the biggest epic fail in comics that has occurred since the spider man clone saga. Why DC would have a year long countdown and then let Morrison just fuck it up like a champ is beyond me. By far the worst of the crisis saga. A terrible ending to what had been great comic story telling.

  • I criticized Final Crisis on the Something Awful boards and got suspended for it. There are a lot of big Morrison fans there. You should read the threads there to see how much they read into it.

  • Apparently Countdown to Final Crisis doesnt really count as the build up to Final Crisis. The real build up took place in some of the issues of a series called Seven Soldiers of Victory. All the stuff about the New Gods happened in those books. That is where all the details of the Omaga Sanction are. Those books are were people are getting a lot of what they are reading into the New Gods/WTF happened to Batman. But that only answers about one third of the questions from the series.

  • No, Superman sings that note to "cancel" Darkseid's abstract form, outside of Turpin's body (As Superman says in that page, "Everything's just vibrations, really. And counter-vivrations that cancel them out") It's just a bit of Silver Age-style science.

I actually liked that bit. There's some poetry to defeating the god evil with music.

  • It would have jived better if Morison had used Coundown's version of the Anti Life Equation. In that series it was a song that the Pied Piper discovered and played on his flute. Since Morison apparently retcond it in favor of the literal equation we seen in the book. It also would have helped if that was the end of the fight. The stuff with Vampire Monitor still is a mystery to me. We haven't seen him in the main book since issue 1.

  • I don't think it contradicts the Pied Piper song version, the Anti-Life can take many shapes; as long as the principle remains (the Anti-Life is described as: "loneliness + alienation + fear + despair + self-worth ÷ mockery ÷ condemnation ÷ misunderstanding x guilt x shame x failure x judgment, n=y where y=hope and n=folly, love=lies, life=death, self=dark side")

  • Also, the thing with Mandrakk the Vampire Monitor (who is really Dax Novu, the original monitor from CoIE) happened mainly in Superman Beyond 3D (those two issues, it should be said, felt a lot bigger in scale and crisis-er that FC), which also explain A LOT of other stuff. They should have warned that those issues were pretty much essential...

Oh, and I wouln't call Seven Soldiers a build up for FC; FC just picks some elements from that series.

  • Yeah, Sups 3D helps when you read it to understand FC. Doesn't make it better in my opinion, but at least I didn't feel like a n00b anymore :P

  • Grant Retconned by Marvel.

    DC Retconned by Morrison.

  • Yeah, he died. Basically, the story was being told from a little ahead in the future. Superman approaches Darkseid as he is already wounded and dying from the gun Batman used to try to kill him. Then the Flashes come in. Darkseid tries to hit them with his Omega effect while they are being chased by Death. They run so fast that the Omega Effect hits Darkseid and then the Black Racer comes in and finishes him off.

  • Then, Superman, who has memorized the schematics to the Miracle Machine that Brainiac 5 showed him in the future, rebuilds it so that he can make a wish. As he was getting ready to make it, that's when that evil Monitor and Ultraman come in to try to kill him. Then that one good Monitor along with a ton of other heroes come in and kill the evil one. The wish is made and everything is fine with the multiverse once again. Batman is shown alive at the end which should have been suspected from FC6.

  • Simply because the Omega Sanction doesn't kill you, it makes you live a life that's worse than death.

  • Hi! You seem to one of many who left the book confused. :) May I ask, did Darkseid finally die?

  • Yes. That was stated by the Evil Vampire Monitor. But where he came from, what his motivations were, how he went from normal Monitor to Vampire Monitor, and why he hooked up with Ultraman is still a mystery to me. I've been on a lot of message boars, read a lot of articles in the last few days, but I still have only about half my questions answer.
