May I just point one thing? Clarkson works for the bloody BBC, which is funded by the government, and what exactly is the public sector? An organization which is funded by the government.
@jnorth He doesn't want attention, the guys got grey hair he's bloody old, he was being annoyed for weeks after this, he still is apparently, it's stupid, and yes we pay for the 'beeb' as you call it, the (bbc) but to many millions of people, top gear is like the only good thing they come out with.... fucking eastenders....
He isn't funny!! Even if that was intended to be sarcastic it wasn't funny. He just comes accross as an offensive, old and arrogant dick who wants attention.
@jnorth Aawww, did someone get sand in their vagina? People need to stop worrying so much about being fucking offended. If I want to offend you, I fucking will. Cry about it all you bloody want, but shut the fuck up while you do it.
To all the pretentious, self-pitying, greedy twats who complained about this because it "insulted them" the same week as we heard about 3 brothers who all had muscular dystrophy who's parents can't afford care. Who are you to ask for higher pensions? You already get more than many in the private sector & why should we pay higher taxes to pay for your greed? I'd much rather put my money towards families that can use it to make their children happy while they're still alive. Look at yourselves.
This has REALLY annoyed me because he was actually on te other side of the argument and they said "you need to be fair" do he came up with that, as a joke, because he "needed to be fair"!!! If you watch the whole interview, especially the part before he says that, you will see that he did not actually mean that!!!!!!!
Superb big jeremy tells it like it is, ppl who complain about this crap need to remember people have freedom of speach & fair play to ppl like big jeremy who dont act like a happy-go lucky fanny like all the other presenters on tv
No justification I don't care how good top gear is! What he said is stupid and out of line, there presenting the very freedom to protest which a lot of countries don't have, and your saying to execute them, isn't that a form of silencing? Repression! Without that women Still wouldn't have the right to vote, your all just as idiotic as him same old right wing watered down, war mongering nazis. When will you all learn we're not in the 1700's.
You should have posted the question and his full response. Everyone has jumped on this part and ignored what he said before this. It's fairly obvious he is being funny when you see the clip in it's entirety.
His delivery may have comic tones, but he has a valid point under it! I don't know anyone who supports their cause. The majority of worker haven't had pay rises for years, and have no pension or benefits laid on them. Well said JC!
Common guys, you know Clarkson's just kidding. If he was being serious, he'd have them, stabbed, minced, burned, and then stabbed again for good measure.

@stevebairdchef..Of course public services generate profit. They also benefit the whole of society in more ways than one, as I have pointed out. Also, this government would not get anywhere near 75% of the electorate voting them in to power, so it is a bit rich talking about trade union votes.
@SuperCUNextTuesday.. (cont) ..These private businesses continue to pay out massive bonuses to executives even though they have proved to be failures yet workers and benefit claimants are demonised for being poor and buying into the consumer society.
@SuperCUNextTuesday.(cont).and services that increase social stability. I agree with your family who resent paying extortionate amounts for private agency workers.
..It really does not matter if the national debt has been caused by giving the banks tax payers cash or using it to guarantee their future debts. We still are being told to accept that debts are to be socialised while profits are being privatised. These private businesses continue to pay out massive bonuses to executives even thoug
@SuperCUNextTuesday.. I realise that companies will avoid paying tax if they can, but individuals and small businesses are clamped down very on very hard if they even attempt it. These large businesses are given every loop hole possible to obtain tax breaks, and avoid and evade paying taxes. They benefit greatly from the education of workers and ensuring they are healthy but don't want to contribute to it. They have also benefited from social services that improve transport and services that in
Why do the public sector feel above everyone else, they don't generate any of there own money... But we the private sector workers suffer when they strike.. Good pensions etc... The government should make it illegal to strike without a 75% membership vote in favour..
@SuperCUNextTuesday..correction.under resourced - not resources. This device often changes words without me noticing. Private banks were actually bailed out to the tune of £1.162 trillion. You should also be aware that leaked Treasury documents in 2006, estimated that between £97 and £150 billion is lost because of tax evasion and avoidance by big business.
They weren't physically given £1.162 trillion of cash. Most of that figure relates to guarantees given against potential bad debts. It is a worse case scenario and will only be such a large cost if everyone of those loans go bad. The figure of £70 billion is an estimate and also includes tax "avoidance" which is totally legal. You will never gain all of the tax you can when other countries offer tax havens but what can be done is being done via new rules.
Do you really expect a company to pay a tax if there is a legal way of not paying it?
Shareholders and people with pensions want companies to be as profitable as possible.
Until world wide tax rules are in place then there will always be mechanisms to gain tax advantages. I can tell you that there has been a lot of new legislation recently to tighten up in the areas that can be improved.
@SuperCUNextTuesday (cont)....when substandard services are provided by a private company - It ends up costing us so much more but nobody seems to listen to workers.
@SuperCUNextTuesday...No matter how you try to package it to make it sound better, that is how much of our money has been used to bail our the financial sector. Maybe you could explain where you think "waste and duplication" occurs in public services? I am sure there are workers who would tell you how they think their service and practice could be improved but I doubt that you would find many who feel they are not under resources. As a tax payer it grates on me when substandard services are pro
I deal with HMRC on a daily basis, generally the most inept bunch of cretins that I have ever seen. Numerous phone calls with no solution offered, promised replies that never materialise and conflicting information sent out at the same time. I have senior members of the NHS in my family, they are appauled by the way that their funds are used and the ridiculous targets set. Agency nurses paid extortionate amounts that can only make a cup of tea.
He is right they have no right to be striking when they live in luxury while people in the world are starving to death. Frankly anyone who says that his comment is arrogant is a bloody idiot. Sure it was over the top to say they should be shot but it was only a joke but it was a FANTASTIC point to make. Then again I am just a 15 year old who puts video games on YouTube
In 2010, Professor Greg Philo of Glasgow University made a simple proposal. He pointed out that the richest six million people in Britain (then) had £4,000 billion in private wealth. Just a fraction of this would wipe out the whole national debt. He proposed a simple one-off tax on the wealthy, to be paid when they die. In a YouGov poll, only 10% of people did not agree with this proposal yet we are being told we must accept service, job, pay and pension cuts instead!
This is a very selective clip. It actually completely misses the joke which was the BBC's obsession with 'balance'. The part where Clarkson says he thought the strike was a good thing is conspicuously missing from the clip and therefore ironically fails to show balance as a result! Surely the people moaning about this have something better to do than extracting cringing apologies from a spineless broadcasting company which should instead be praised for its outstanding productions.
@xxfloydxx21..(cont).. The super rich (who have all the economic power) would rather enforce life-long austerity on workers and wipe out the futures of millions of young people, rather than give up any of their own stashed money and privileges. A minority of people earn more in a week than most workers earn in a year but are expecting the poorest to pay for their continued greed. That is not acceptable to the majority of people even if it is to the people you know.
@xxfloydxx21...we are not asking for bigger pensions. Our pensions are being attacked and we are being told to work for longer and pay more for less of a pension. The directors of the FTSE 100 companies had average pay increases of 49% while delivering pay squeezes and redundancies to their workforces. It is a crime that millions of people's lives and livelihoods are being destroyed in the name of austerity. The super rich (who have all the economic power) would rather enforce life-long auster
@xxfloydxx21 pt 2 read below first then this. When I have served 35 years for my country I will gain around £6-7k pa before tax to live on. there is nothing platinum about that. My income after tax is £12-13k. Nothing platinum about that either. If you decided to work for your country you would understand that this isnt about being greedy it's about stopping the Government from taking away what you have signed up for. Ie a job for life with a pension that was agreed on at the contract stage.
@xxfloydxx21 just so that you can't get me on spelling I will be ever so careful. We protect you from crime, we educate you, we protect the country from terrorism you are saved from death when we operate on you in hospital. We serve our country in many ways. If we are shot like Jews in a Nazzi camp then I guess you not only get a job but have to do all that stuff meantioned above by yourself. I am not lucky to have a job I worked very hard at college to to gain work in the public sector.
@xxfloydxx21..my husband works for a private sector industry and is very angry that he was swindled out of the pension he paid in to for years. For that reason he is glad we are fighting to defend them. Also my pay has been frozen and has not risen in line with inflation for several years. Everyone I know is affected by service, job, pay and pension cuts and supported the strike action by public sector workers.
@queenofshebalala I would be angry too but still doesnt mean that you can continue to sqeeze the public sector finances for your own greed , at this rate they'll be even more job losses particulary if you want a larger pension , the economic bubble has well and clearly burst we are all suffering one way or another what excuses you from being entilled to an enhanced pension ?? believe me alot of people are not supporting this
@SuperCUNextTuesday..(cont).. Yet you are complaining about the pay of doctors and Head Teachers - anyway they only made up a small % of public sector strikers?
@SuperCUNextTuesday..the public sector has actually has bailed out the private banks to the tune of £1.162 trillion. The super-rich gamble billions of pounds every day on the money markets; billions more are silted away in the bank accounts of big business, rather than being invested in new jobs and industry. Banks, sitting on bailouts and newly printed money (quantitative easing), refuse to lend to small businesses or ordinary people. Yet you are complaining about the pay of doctors and Head T
That £1 trillion figure isn't actually true. That is potential exposure to future bad debts, not physical cash paid out. Let's not forget the £500 billion + of taxes paid by those same banks over the last decade.
GP's and head teachers may only be a small minority but the point is that the funds in the public sector aren't used correctly and this has been building for years. There is so much waste and duplication of effort that it is almost unbelievable.
Misrepresentation. Either show it in context or don't bother showing it at all. The fact it is a 15 second clip should hint that it is nowhere near accurate.
@xxfloydxx21..Maybe we should be thankful that we have paid for the privilege of bailing out and subsidising big companies who have messed up but still plan to take over essential services? Maybe you think that people should be grateful for the fact that 700,000 public sector jobs are going to be lost, and we will pay with cuts to services, jobs, pensions and unemployed allowance while being forced to work for private companies in return for even more debt and poverty?
@queenofshebalala Why are you arguing about job cuts ? The whole point about the strikes was about pensions being frozen . Why do the private sector have to pay for our own pensions , when the public sector make next to little no contribution?? Your salary has also risen consistantly year on year at the rate of inflation apart from the past couple of years, yes because clearly working for a private company means your below the poverty line ?
@dubstepHD111 You are a twat and obviously have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. Not all cival servants earn high wages and nor do they gain platinum pensions. You and Clarkeson should fuck each other. I assume you know where your dick is as you must be one big one. ( if however I am taling to a female) then just because you have a cunt you should't talk like one.
@audiotron1003 Why should everyone else suffer because of your selfish act , very pathetic and narrow minded . You should be proud at least to have a job, judging on the levels of 'banter' your dishing out to @dubstepHD111 and that you spelled Clarkson wrong suggests that you are a waste human resources.
I can't believe how many people took the time of their day to send in a complaint about this. People need to chill their beans and stop complaining - it's not like he is actually executing people, it's just a stupid comment.
@drage1862..(cont)...charge customers extortionate amounts and then demand subsidies and bail outs to keep the service running. That is called "bribery", not the struggle to defend services, jobs and pensions.
@drage1862..the 'perks' that some of us had (like sleeping at night and seeing our families) are fast becoming non existent. The reason some of these big multi national companies are able to hold us to ransom, is because they take over vital services that are so essential to our lives and economy that we can't manage without them. Big business is able to keep the profits and pay low wages to workers while executives are awarded massive amounts; run the service down; charge customers extortionat
@drage1862..(cont)..Not accepting that fact demonstrates you are completely in denial and out of touch with reality. It is unrealistic to expect workers to keep on paying for the mistakes of big business and the financial sector.
I presume you do realise that the public sector was out of control way before the credit crunch. Even in the boom times of the early to mid 2000's we were running up deficits of £30 billion a year. When GP's are earning £200k - £300k and head masters are earning well over £100k then there is a problem. Yes you signed up to a contract, a contract offered by the government but guaranteed by the rest of us.
@drage1862..public sector workers i.e nurses, teachers, support assistants, hospital workers, fire fighters, social workers, care assistants etc etc. work and live with their families and friends in the real world. We pay towards our pensions and accepted our jobs with pensions included as part of our pay. The job losses, service cuts, pay and pension poverty affects everyone (inc private sector workers who depend on our services for work and personal reasons). Not accepting that fact demonstra
@drage1862..what sort of isolated fantasy world are you living in? Trying to compare the comments on YouTube to the reality of life for people who rely on public services and the 2 million public sector workers who were on strike is ridiculous. FYI, I stopped supporting New Labour when I realised there was very little difference between their policies and the Tories. Don't even try to berate me for the actions of Blair or Brown who were imitating the Conservatives.
@queenofshebalala People working in the public sector are the ones in a fantasy world, You know it's much harder out there in the real world that's why you're fighting so hard to protect your pampered little jobs. Don't be scared ! You can still have a cup of tea, not as many as you've become accustomed to perhaps, nobody is going to pay for your pension & you won't be able to blackmail people to get a pay rise but hard work never killed anybody ! Happy Days ;o)
"Strikers should be executed in front of their families?" Sounds like something the Cambodian dictator Pol Pot would have decreed. Has anybody else compared this Jeremy Clarkson to Pol Pot yet?
@drage1862.. You even speak like a dirty little non unionised old git who wants all workers to join a race to the bottom. Most private sector workers are glad that public sector workers are finally defending pension rights, and the services and incomes of millions of pensioners who depend on them. You give clear reasons why we should be nationalising all of the major industries under democratic workers control. if we allow big business to continue controlling our economy they will drag us all d
@queenofshebalala " Dirty little non unionised old git " You show your true colours when you resort to personal abuse. I'm not going to rise to it. You don't have a clue about economics, were you demonstrating back in 97 when Gordon Brown effectively wrecked every private company pension scheme in the country, your false pity for pensioners ain't fooling anybody. I don't know anybody who supports the public sector workers & the majority of comments here verify that.

These large businesses are given every loop hole possible to obtain tax breaks, and avoid and evade paying taxes. They benefit greatly from the education of workers and ensuring they are healthy but don't want to contribute to it. They have also benefited from social services that improve transport and services that in

@SuperCUNextTuesday..correction.under resourced - not resources. This device often changes words without me noticing. Private banks were actually bailed out to the tune of £1.162 trillion. You should also be aware that leaked Treasury documents in 2006, estimated that between £97 and £150 billion is lost because of tax evasion and avoidance by big business.
queenofshebalala 1 month ago
@queenofshebalala
SuperCUNextTuesday 1 month ago
@queenofshebalala

In a YouGov poll, only 10% of people did not agree with this proposal yet we are being told we must accept service, job, pay and pension cuts instead!
queenofshebalala 1 month ago

That is not acceptable to the majority of people even if it is to the people you know.
queenofshebalala 1 month ago

I am not lucky to have a job I worked very hard at college to to gain work in the public sector.
audiotron1003 1 month ago
@xxfloydxx21..my husband works for a private sector industry and is very angry that he was swindled out of the pension he paid in to for years. For that reason he is glad we are fighting to defend them. Also my pay has been frozen and has not risen in line with inflation for several years. Everyone I know is affected by service, job, pay and pension cuts and supported the strike action by public sector workers.
queenofshebalala 1 month ago
@queenofshebalala I would be angry too but still doesnt mean that you can continue to sqeeze the public sector finances for your own greed , at this rate they'll be even more job losses particulary if you want a larger pension , the economic bubble has well and clearly burst we are all suffering one way or another what excuses you from being entilled to an enhanced pension ?? believe me alot of people are not supporting this

queenofshebalala 1 month ago
@SuperCUNextTuesday..the public sector has actually has bailed out the private banks to the tune of £1.162 trillion. The super-rich gamble billions of pounds every day on the money markets; billions more are silted away in the bank accounts of big business, rather than being invested in new jobs and industry. Banks, sitting on bailouts and newly printed money (quantitative easing), refuse to lend to small businesses or ordinary people. Yet you are complaining about the pay of doctors and Head T
queenofshebalala 1 month ago
@queenofshebalala
SuperCUNextTuesday 1 month ago
Misrepresentation. Either show it in context or don't bother showing it at all. The fact it is a 15 second clip should hint that it is nowhere near accurate.
Bealzbob 1 month ago
@xxfloydxx21..Maybe we should be thankful that we have paid for the privilege of bailing out and subsidising big companies who have messed up but still plan to take over essential services? Maybe you think that people should be grateful for the fact that 700,000 public sector jobs are going to be lost, and we will pay with cuts to services, jobs, pensions and unemployed allowance while being forced to work for private companies in return for even more debt and poverty?
queenofshebalala 1 month ago
@queenofshebalala Why are you arguing about job cuts ? The whole point about the strikes was about pensions being frozen . Why do the private sector have to pay for our own pensions , when the public sector make next to little no contribution?? Your salary has also risen consistantly year on year at the rate of inflation apart from the past couple of years, yes because clearly working for a private company means your below the poverty line ?

@drage1862..the 'perks' that some of us had (like sleeping at night and seeing our families) are fast becoming non existent. The reason some of these big multi national companies are able to hold us to ransom, is because they take over vital services that are so essential to our lives and economy that we can't manage without them.

Trying to compare the comments on YouTube to the reality of life for people who rely on public services and the 2 million public sector workers who were on strike is ridiculous. Don't even try to berate me for the actions of Blair or Brown who were imitating the Conservatives.

@queenofshebalala People working in the public sector are the ones in a fantasy world, You know it's much harder out there in the real world that's why you're fighting so hard to protect your pampered little jobs. @queenofshebalala " Dirty little non unionised old git " You show your true colours when you resort to personal abuse. I'm not going to rise to it.
