  • Allahu Akbar

  • I think the author of this video is trying to express this statement:

"Humans are stupid and we can't understand complex biology, such as the eye. We are so insecure, we can assume that we will always be too stupid to understand the eye in the future. No matter how long or far into the future that may be. Humans are just so inept at understanding this biology, that we can assume we will never have an answer, and therefore lets just resign ourselves to believing god made eyes with his magic"

  • @Futureplanet

You know what, I am totally honest and serious right now, if biology didn't exist, atheism would be much more logical, because what would "be" an eye then? Just an organ that sees, nothing sounds complicated, right? Understanding how eye or any other organ or system works more only demonstrates more complexity, intelligence and consciousness, nothing else. Which are never owned by blind, deaf, dumb and brainless nature, coincidences or random mutations

    Best regards, peace and love.

  • @HighFlyingDutchman You are assuming an eye because it is complicated cannot be made by natural biological processes (even though we have a natural biological explanation, which is much more likely than "it was done by magic")

But, because YOU don't know that process, and because YOU want to assume it cannot be further expanded upon in the future, it somehow supports your God theory.

The fact is, there is NO evidence that God made the eye. Where is his signature "GOD DID THIS" on the eyeball?

  • Since when did evolution create a space telescope that can see into the furtherest parts of the universe?

Scientists haven't come close to developing a camera like our eye, because we don't need to.

We have night vision googles, telescopic lenses, I think we have amazing cameras that function better than our own eyes for specific purposes.

Even if we can't develop a camera like our eye...so what!? Doesn't mean we never will. Cavemen didn't have electricity.

    Evolution is a fact.

  • Subhan Allah Allah is great

  • lets take a moment to thank God , the One and Only , Alpha and Omega ... Who created such beautiful and mind bogglingly complex designs

  • god is really there

  • *sub* :)

  • If I lost my eyes I'm sure someone would be honest enough to hand them in.

  • If I lost mine I'm sure someone would be honest enough to hand them in.

  • If one has the resources to physically realize anything one imagined / designed, then Icould find MANY designers who could create an eye which was far simpler, far less complex, far more reliable and far better than the human eye. Any intellegent entity with the power to create the universe WOULD have designed the eye differently... UNLESS this entity was deliberately trying to decieve people into believing that the eye was a product of evolution and not the product of intellegence!

  • Perhaps there is a god - but page 1 of the bible proves that nothing intellegent wrote or inspired this book! - It tells us that man was created within 24 hours of the sun, moon, and stars being created - we see light from stars billions of light years away, which means (according to the bible) that man has been on earth for billions of years.. The other "holy" books are just as moronic.

An "intellegent" design the eye is NOT! it is a shambles thrown together by evolution. ..

  • So this is basicaly saying that our Body has 50000 Gigs of ram and a 102.4Ghz Proccesor and a Nvidia 1000000000gig Video card

  • We can only see, smell or hear in a very limited spectrum. A dog has better ears, eyes and a better nose than humans. Is the dog Allah's preferred animal? Why can't we sense magnetism, electricity or radioactivity? Are we not good enough for this? Why are there so many defects of our senses?

  • God is awesome

  • Great video. For some reason videos like this upset some people who feel more comfort in believing the eye and brain are poorly design. I think that complaining about poor design in bodies that are amazing as ours even with all the imperfections that come with them, is like being a spoiled sport at an orgy.

  • @benthemiester

I dont see anyone complaining about the "poorly design" - but I do think it rational to state the damn obvious.. EVOLUTION does NOT produce PERFECTION! - If we were perfect, if the 'design' was flawless or even astoundingly intellegent then there would be good reason to doubt evolution and regard intellegent design as a possibility.. BUT - IF WE WERE DESIGNED, THEN THE DESIGNER WAS INCOMPETENT.. And the creator of this universe could not be incompetent - QED.

  • @TherAsynth "EVOLUTION does NOT produce PERFECTION! "

What is perfection and how do you quantify it? and what makes you think a designer would be obligated to make you perfect?

Life is incredible, intelligent & amazing, and still not completely understood by a long shot, even by the most intelligent people in the world. If you can produce something superior, or point to a designer that can, then I will happily concede your point. Whether or not it meets your expectations is a another matter.

  • @benthemiester

What is perfection and how do you quantify it? and what makes you think a designer would be obligated to make you perfect?

I am not arguing that "a designer would be obligated to make you perfect" - I am arguing (a) against those who claim we were made perfectly by god (b) that the human body and/or nature in general is "perfect" (c) That there is nothing in the "design" of anything in nature which suggests an intellegent designer of any kind.

    I cannot define perfection.

  • @TherAsynth I applaud your honesty. I cant define perfection in the human sense either, but no one ever said he made us perfect, or we would be Gods, and if we are speaking of the Bible, death decay and disease came into this world the as a result of sin.

I cant speak for other metaphysical beliefs. If we are speaking of intelligent design, then again, there is no rule that says we had to be designed perfect either, even if by an ET or some kind of other superior intelligents.

  • @benthemiester "... decay and disease came into this world the as a result of sin" - This is what it all hinges on, isnt it !? This is THE reason why, against all reason, the theory of evolution is so hated by religeons - The reasons for death, decay, pain, and all the unpleasant things is simple.. it is due to the nature of life on this planet - it could not be otherwise. Evolution is cruel and barbaric.. and without the "sin" excuse - if god created this - god must be cruel and barbaric.

  • @TherAsynth "The reasons for death, decay, pain, and all the unpleasant things is simple.. it is due to the nature of life on this planet"

    Yes you get it. Exactly.

  • @benthemiester

I think perhaps you misunderstand my position - I am not against exploring the intellegent design hypothesis.. but I feel this should be done scientifically. One can never prove anything absolutely - but one can disprove things absolutely.. Eliminate PROVEN falsehoods (the bible's creation story, for example) Look at theories which are not disproven (evolution) and examine possible ID "input" into any / all processes being explored.. Get rid of the bullshit and we may see truth!

  • @TherAsynth "there is nothing in the "design" of anything in nature which suggests an intellegent designer of any kind"

There are many scholars and scientist who have lived on this planet who disagree, as do also. From the cosmological constants to the sequential encoded digital information within our cells. If you think that there is no intelligents in our design, then again, prove it. Create a living cell from scratch or an eyeball that can do what ours can and self regenerate.

  • @benthemiester - "Create a living cell from scratch" .. Not asking for much, are you? ;-)

I am a human - a highly evolved animal - I am not a "god" .. If I was an entity capable of creation by merely 'saying' "let there be light" THEN I could do what you ask. - But the "watchmaker" argument - The idea that something as "simple" as a watch could not assemble without a watchmaker - the watchmaker must be more complex - and, following this reasoning likewise could not just have appeared.

  • @TherAsynth I didn't say speak something into existence. You can cheat, and use all the kings horses and all the kings men, and their finest laboratories and intellects as well. If you think creating a living cell is no big thing, then do it, or tell me why the most intelligent people in the world cant do it. You said that life is not intelligence. And creating a living cell isn't asking for much. Well if its not, then there should be no reason why we cant create one.

  • Comment removed

  • @TherAsynth continued.. If by a "living cell" you mean biological, similar to existing life on earth, then the task is huge - We do not have precise data on the conditions which caused the 'soup' to bring life into existance - we would need to replicate such conditions..

BUT - If we were to create *life* and *intellegence* through some other mechanism - not a biological cell but perhaps a living, replicating, self-aware digital entity .. I doubt that the argument would go away! ;-)

  • @benthemiester - " -You said that .. creating a living cell isn't asking for much.." Sorry - you misunderstood my sarcasm! ;-) creating a living cell will be the 'greatest' scientific / engineering achievement man will probably ever manage.. It will happen - IF the impending apocalypse (the fact that we are facing run-away environmental disaster which is likely to exterminate all highly evolved life on this planet within a century) is averted.

    - continued...

  • this kinda stuff makes me think, "theres has to be higher power out there" idk .. it just works out too perfectly.

    just an opinion...

  • Every time an irreducible complexity argument is made, god kills a kitten. Clearly, this video has killed countless kittens

  • wow and that all came from the big wise flying spaghetti monster! hail the flying spaghetti monster for giving us such awesome eyes, even though other animals have better eyes than us...

  • @Quiestre ..

I do worry about the FSM religeon - Oh, its good fun now.. BUT:

Imagine that thousands of years ago, some folks, so pissed off with the nonsense spouted by believers in (say) Ra, and fed up with the circular nonsense and being forced to study Ra in their science lessons, decided to create an equally absurd, (but much nastier) fictitious god - and invented JokeHova.

Time passed, and a renegrade pharoh adopted JokeHova - leading to the acceptance of this far worse god.

  • I love God.

  • Not a bad video. Keep it up!

  • flame war!!

  • What was the purpose of this video? Biological complexity proves a Creator, perhaps?

    You leave out:

In humans, the nerve fibres are on the wrong side of the retina; We have a blind spot; Vision has evolved independently in at least 40 different animal lineages; Bird vision is vastly better than ours; Evolution of vision is very well understood & has been shown to happen remarkably quickly; Colour blindness & other congenital vision defects.

The list can go on and on...

  • Also out vision has gotten worse over the last million years as our early ancersors had a bigger optical lobe and bigger eyes. If god existed wouldnt we be evolving to get better eyesight? Also if he existed how come our anatomy is full of flaws like male nipples, appendix, coccyx etc. I refuse to believe that an all knowing being would make so many mistakes. Maybe he liked drama which explains giving us free will. Makes me think how flawed the bible is.

  • You are an idiot. A human body is flawless. Your mind is sick and therefore cannot see the beauty of a male body with little nipples and a female body with a breast. No wonder many of chose to fuck an ass rather than a vagina. I wish all of you go to the Hellfire forever. Unbelievable stupidity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "a human body is flawless"

    1. Female pelvis too small for the human baby's head making birth difficult and prone to perinatal injuries to the baby.

    2. Retinal arteries/veins lying on and in front of the retina of the eyes. Many causes of blindness come from this defective design.

    3. Wisdom teeth with secondary abscesses, occasionally dissecting up into the cranium -> brain abscess, meningitis, epidural empyema.

Theres 3 flaws right there and I found then in seconds on google.

  • if the human body were flawless it wouldn't break down. our bodies are shit, amazingly conturcted but shit none the less. another point hell isnt in the bible go have a read of the dead sea scrolls.

  • @poomanonfire fail comment

  • Wow, this is such bullshit. Just because we can't imagine it, doesn't mean its divine

  • hey weirdo!

    whats your problem,huh?

just because your brain doesn't work

    doesn't mean that anyone else's can't...

  • lol, ad hominem. Not even worth answering

  • well,what about "bullshit"?

did that even deserve an answer?

    mr religious Jew atheist?

  • No, hut my comment about the god of the gaps did, as did the one about proving Allah. I'm not athiest, I just think your belief fails in light of logic

  • so correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not really "seeing" my computer screen but I'm picturing it in my brain?

  • yep

    right

if a real copy picture occurs on a mirror,

an electronic copy occurs in our dark and colorless brain

and guess "who" sees it there...

  • Can you prove that or just use the typical "God of the Gaps" fallacy?

  • "so correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not really "seeing" my computer screen but I'm picturing it in my brain?"

Of course you are seeing it, that is the way that "seeing" works. An optical picture is converted to an electrical signal, just like a video camera records something.

Recognition of the environment is not part of the seeing process, but part of the process of interpreting what we see.

  • Not the eye argument again...

  • dislike it? there are thousand other videos.

so you dont need to share ur words of bs with us.

  • where is the argument buddy?

just show me a sentence from the video like "this proves God,that disproves evolution..."

    in fact,there is not

and even an atheist friend down there (joebot1) says this is a great video

maybe thats because his heart is not filled with hatred against,at least beauty and wonder

you understand it as an argument bcs all you think about is finding a hole to tuck your head and shut your alreadily dead conscience down

    ...

  • Well, who said I am to disprove God? The burden of proof is on you to prove not only Him, but ONLY Him. Otherwise, it could be anything. It could be Zeus, Dionysus, Big Brother, or even an Evil Deceiver. Prove that its only Allah. Prove that nothing else could possibly exist.

Also, keep in mind that while the universe is complex, God is infinitely more complex. Who created Him? And if no one, then why does the universe have to be created?

  • What has conscience got to do with it? The video is wonderfully done - but it only tells a distorted story.. If there is an entity responsible for the creation of the universe - energy, matter, all the laws and mathematics which make things 'tick' .. and if this entity was able to do all this from nothing - creating just through its will.. Then to attribute such a poorly 'designed' , fragile, over-complicated object as the eye such an entity is laughable! A REAL god would have designed better!

  • @HighFlyingDutchman

    >> "just show me a sentence from the video like "this proves God,that disproves evolution..."

it doesnt.. But it presents only a distorted, truncated look at the eye -

Many vitally important facts are DELIBERATELY left out - "Are your eyes REALLY wonderful?" is a question - and both 'pro' and 'con' factors should be presented or, AS INTENDED BY THIS VIDEO, the argument

"this proves God and disproves evolution" is the message conveyed. This is creationist DISHONESTY!

  • @TherAsynth - continued -

Being brought up in an evangelical family, I was exposed to hundreds of superbly produced "science" films from Moody Bible Institute and other evangelical outlets - the only moving image I was allowed to watch until I was 14 years old!

The format is the same - "The WHOLE truth" is NEVER presented by your like.. You would not be interested in ID unless it was a vehicle you could use to promote YOUR particular "brand" of "god".

If the FSM was "proved" by ID ;-)

  • great video!.

  • Keep up the good work. Great video. The immaterial power of the brain to abstract the non physical "evidence" for the missing transitions with the aid of various other designs for eyes is powerful evidence of the transcendent intellect of man. A power potentially to deride God and exalt the stupidity of human science falsely called or the humility to accept intelligent, functionally complex design as the work of an Intelligent Designer. Take that evolutionists.

  • Please dont make assumptions like that. I know the eye is an amazing "piece of machinery", but it is FAR from perfect. Look at this video which explains some faults of the eye and some faults of the body:

    watch?v=CZkPAanGXsc&feature=subscription

If the eye was so perfect, it would not have all these faults. The fact that the eye is the way it is is actually proof of evolution. But dont take my word for it, watch the video by two evolutionary biologists.

  • crackerkiller89 is right, the eye is a very imperfect device, and many of the superior traits of human eyes are trade-offs for other superior traits of the eyes of other animals.

The eye is certainly amazing, but it's also the best that we humans have right now, so it naturally seems amazing. If humans evolved into something else a hundred thousand years from now, THEIR eyes might be monumentally better than ours, and then our eyes wouldn't seem so amazing.

  • Every gradation between simple eyespot and the human eye are visible in nature.

BTW, the eye does not determine distance, the brain does by compositing images from both eyes.

The irreducible complexity argument has been put to rest for several years now.

So yes, the eye IS amazing, but not improbable, nor unlikely.

It is also, however, testament to the power of evolution and any intelligence (if any) that is behind it.

  • Thanks

  • Absolutely beautiful. And fascinating. I think eagle, hawk, falcon, and owl eyes are more interesting but still. Thanks for posting.

  • i believe this is from harun yahya. harun yahya has done some good work , but in reality he is an enemy of islam.

    watch?v=WlqA5eQcvX4&feature=channel_page

  • I dont think Harun Yahya is an enemy of Islam. he might have mistakes in some of his philosophy but he does it out of ignorance not out of deceit.

overal he does more good than bad, many people had their iman stronger after watching Harun Yahya's scientific videos and many entered Islam.

this only proves that u cant take one Imam or Alim as urs, u should go and research urself and listen to many Aulama.

    salam

  • yes brother , i am agree with u. but ALLAH knows best. but for now beware of him.

  • What did he do wrong?
