@InsideScoop Not true I live in a state that has a very large illegal community, and yes they do get welfare, regardless of their legal status. and that is because they are not required to show proof of citizenship and the state employees are not allowed to ask for proof

Each state can't set its own rules on IMMIGRATION. (Article 1, Section 8 of the United States Constitution specifically requires a "uniform standard of Naturalization".)

Each state CAN set its own rules on most subjects, including marriage. In fact, it's the Federal Government that has no right to set its own rules on marriage (which is nowhere found in the Constitution).
